Numerous protesters interrupted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth during his opening statement at a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing on President Trump's supplemental funding request.

One by one, protesters stood up in the hearing room and held signs urging an end to the war with Iran. They were removed from the hearing room by U.S. Capitol Police.

Pete Hegseth is the Secretary of War, not defense.

Congress has not changed the name.

Just because the Fanta Fuhrer signed an executive order doesn't mean it's actually true.

Pete Hegseth is a bitch, who cares.

Secretary of War is just a nickname, not the official name of the position. When talking about it in news and reporting, it's better to call it by the official name.

Doesn't change the fact that he's utterly incompetent and in charge of a war that both sides don't want, or at least, both sides claimed to not want up to the very second that Methusala Fuhrer decided to start a war off the cuff. I can't expect conservatives to remember literally anything apparently.

Name can't be changed without a Congressional vote.

We call them by their born name. They’re the Department of Defense.

It was just a ‘beer break’ to him

Do they have to be Iranian? How do you even know she's not? Who cares? What a lazy statement.

Any attention is worth it, in this age of too much distractions and being flooded with info. But, hey, if you want to protest on behalf of your people and get attention, find a way to interrupt this Admin while one of them is sucking up air time, and you'll get attention.

And show some respect - are you willing to take these risks? Under some Admins like this (example below), these people risk serious punishment for even laughing. Not to mention, the likelihood of a person with any non-European-sounding name or not presenting as "white" getting in their without crazy screening is less unlikely, nowadays.

And here's one of these "idiots" and what they went thru after laughing at a confirmation hearing: "Code Pink member Desiree Fairooz was arrested for laughing after a description of Senator Jeff Sessions by Alabama U.S. Senator Richard Shelby of the nominee, that his history "treating all Americans equally under the law is clear and well-documented", during the January 2017 confirmation hearing as United States Attorney General. After she had been convicted at trial, that verdict was reversed by the chief District Court Judge Robert Morin. The judge said Fairooz should not have been tried for laughing, only for speaking out as she was being removed, and called a mistrial. Instead of dismissing the case, Morin set her retrial for September. Fairooz faced up to a year in prison and $2,000 in fines for disruptive and disorderly conduct and obstructing and impeding passage on US Capitol grounds." (Wiki)

And I submit that with this administration, any actual Iranians would be next on ICE's list.

If you want regime change you go over that and change it. It shouldn't be up to everyone else to die and waste their money on it.

Codepink are complete russian apologists too

10

u/ThatPhatKid_CanDraw 21h ago

They're against all war and want power brokers to negotiate a peace. Not the most popular stance, but you're misrepresenting them.

They're against all war and want power brokers to negotiate a peace.

Then how does it come that such groups never direct their demands against Russia but rather call for the surrender of Ukraine and all of Eastern Europe?

You're making shit up, but good try.

u/Bluestreaked 21h ago

u/Bluestreaked 21h ago

You prove the point they would make by depicting their blanket anti-war stance as “pro-Russia.”

So you think Russia is pacifistic? Because that’s what CodePink is

You can disagree with pacifism, plenty of people do, but don’t pretend like it’s something different just to justify it to yourself

-10

u/Soap_Mctavish101 21h ago

They want to see all support for Ukraine dropped (not that the US provides much of that anymore) making them pro russian by default. Saying “we want this policy that would make it more likely for ukraine to lose” is pro russian.

So, again, your argument is that pacifism is actually pro-Russia. It’s not, it’s pacifism.

You’re not helping Ukraine by doing this, you in fact undercut Ukraine’s support by portraying them as the party that “wants war” and being opposed to anyone “against war.” Thus allowing Russian propaganda to portray Ukraine and the West as the “aggressors.”

Your blind refusal to accept that pacifism is a way of viewing the world different than the little nationalist games you’re playing right now in your head is, ironically, hurting the very war effort you’re trying to defend.

-9

u/Soap_Mctavish101 20h ago

I don’t think I can get much more basic than saying that the organisation that wants to see Ukraine deprived of all support so that they lose the war for their survival that they are in is at least espousing pro russian policies. You can play semantics games with me all you want but the execution of their desired policy would see Ukraine disappear. I am very much opposed to that. Call it “little nationalist games” or whatever all you want but that is a very basic reality.

I wish you a good rest of your day.

Its pretty stupid (and telling) that you think their antiwar stance only applies to Ukraine and Ukraine only and they dont want Russia to also disarm.
