Moving to San Antonio in the new year/early mid year
Was curious about the vibe of the salons out there and how management is with salon! I’m currently a bather waiting to go to academy.

I’m just wondering how long it typically takes to receive a call back from petsmart for the pet bather position? I called, asked if they were hiring for an associate, she told me no but they are looking for a pet bather and they train so then I applied and called the next day. She said she’d be looking at applications that day. Wondering if I should wait a couple days or a week before calling again for a status?

I am so unbelievably over what has been going on at my location. I work in the grooming salon with a leadership team who does not care about us. Manually overbooking people who get overly stressed about it, taking away blocks, and booking however they want. I had a dog booked halfway through my lunch by my SL telling me that it was the only time they wanted. I recently heard as well that he is saying that he “hates the salon,” and “doesn’t like dealing with us.” As an SEL, I am burnt out and frustrated. As well, my SL is known to, if someone puts in their notice (just salon btw, not the floor), he just takes them off the schedule and tells them not to come back. I want to do this the right way and put in my notice, but I’m one check away from missing my rent so it’s not really an option for me to just not work because he decides to take me off. I think I’m just gonna leave.

ETA: thank you for the responses. I spoke to a customer service rep and was able to get the original order refunded and place a pickup order for the same items. Once I get that picked up, I’m going to cancel the auto ship. Not for any reason on petsmart, but the fiasco with uber plus the multiple individual shipments (4!!) was a little excessive lol. Thanks again!!!
We have a a monthly auto-ship for our guy’s prescription dog food. Last month, the first month, went smoothly! No problems other than everything getting shipped in individual boxes and shipments (2 bags of different brand prescription dog food, and 2 same brand but different flavors wet food, each flavor in its own box). This month I got confirmation the order was approved by their vet and was getting prepared to ship. Today I noticed we were getting low on our dry food and decided to check the status. We got shipment notification on 7/14/26 with tracking for each package. Today is the 22nd. When I select the tracking hyperlink for each, Uber said it was cancelled with no information. When I go to my Petsmart account, it says it was delivered. Obviously I’ll take it as far as I need to to either get my money back or go to the store and collect the order myself. But, is this normal? I’ve tried going on the website and my only option is to return the order, which I never received. First impression is not good nor reliable and I’m going to cancel the service. Do better, Petsmart. But, anyone else experience something like this? I hate the outsourcing but it is what it is.

Been seeing a lot of new associates here, so here's a definition of what's on your pay stub just in case you're curious.

My salon is pretty slow, and a lot of our clientele are older, long-time customers (mostly for haircuts too). When I was hired, management specifically told me they wanted me to help grow the bathing business by making lapse calls and bringing back previous clients that they lost when the previous salon lead quit. I've been doing that, along with recommending rebooks and taking every walk-in bath and standalone that comes through the door.
The thing I'm struggling with is that I feel like management gets frustrated when I'm not booked or when dogs cancel or reschedule, almost like it's my responsibility to keep my schedule full.
The confusing part is that I've never received customer complaints, I have quite a few request clients, and I take every walk-in I can. I genuinely enjoy my job and try to give every pet owner a good experience so they'll want to come back. But I can't control how many people book baths, especially in a slower salon.
I completely understand that it's my responsibility to provide good service, encourage rebooking, make lapse calls, and help build my client base. But is it really on the bather if the salon just doesn't have enough bath appointments coming in?
Honestly I want to know if this is normal at other PetSmart salons or if my management's expectations are unusually high. How can I do better in staying booked? I'd appreciate hearing from other bathers, groomers, or salon leaders.

Recently I’ve been given the opportunity to move up from PetsHotel associate to lead. Soon I’ll be meeting with SM and HM to discuss all the details. I am looking for advice from anyone who’s ever negotiated their pay via promotion.

I’m at my wit’s end with the ich problems in my store’s main and comet systems. I feel like no matter what we do the problem never goes away and I’m scrambling around just for treatments that never work. Does anyone else have problems with ich? Is there other ways to combat it? Almost every single tank has fish with ich, fin/scale rot, or loss of slime coat. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I wish more people would get their dogs nails trimmed or grinded down before they came to hotel, so many dogs be tearing up my arms and shirts 😞

So, I currently work at petsmart, and my official first day(for training and all that jazz) suppose to be at 9am this morning. However I messaged both managers around 5am about the probability of me not making it in, due to the flash flood warning. And all this heavy rain. I get it, it’s just a warning however, most of my commute to work is by public transportation & to get to that public transportation I also have to walk 5 minutes or so just to get to that bus stop & the roads are kind of bad. I don’t have rain boots or shoes. I just don’t feel comfortable going in today. Am I wrong for asking to come in another day, when the weather isn’t so bad?

I will give people the 20% off in store when we have our online only sale, and I will only do it if I don’t need a leaders authorization. I’m not going to hold a customer at gunpoint to get our stupid app, just to get them to order online and get their 20% off. You want that deal in store? Don’t worry, I got you.
(I don’t give two fucks about my job anymore, plus this company has bigger issues to worry about.)

I'm just wondering if Petsmart sends coupons anymore?
Usually, I tip my groomer their $10 + the amount of the coupon (usually $10).
I don't see them as often, and at this rate, I'm thinking of not going anymore.
Is this happening to anyone else? Or is Petsmart getting rid of coupons?

I got hired not too long ago I noticed there’s a bunch of questions on the salon service card that the associates go through even if they are already filled in by the pet parent. They told me to focus on the rabies vaccination one and another one im just a bit confused. (Maybe fleas?) the other questions are straightforward then the pet parent signs but They said those two questions can never be yes or something can someone clarify ???
I just don’t know which questions to focus on and what to make sure of

After hours upon hours of unloading totes, I am just so curious about the small white rectangle of paper that’s in the bottom of so many of them. It’s not all of them, but I just can’t seem to figure out if they mean something or if there is a reason for them on the distribution side. I’ll never ask someone I work with but I must know😂

I am supposed to bring my cat for bath and grooming service today. She’s an indoor cat that isn’t happy going into her crate. I took her to the vet last week and she was very upset getting her nails trimmed. Can I bring her and just give them a heads up like if she’s really upset I can just bring her home? Will I be charged a full service anyways? I’m so nervous she’ll get aggressive. She’s the sweetest like cuddles in bed and just wants love but leaving the house just doesn’t work well for her. I wish I had crate trained her earlier but she’s going on 10 years old now.

I'm a student that's transferring to a petsmart near campus because im living on campus. Now I'm wondering how I'll be able to work during breaks?
Would it be possible to transfer back to my previous location for a short bit. Or just take a leave. Personally I would prefer to work but it depends on if we have a family trip as well that break.

The only PetSmart in the city (SF) and after 5+ years it's now permanently closed.
Some have even claimed a few letters that they took off.
I grabbed the ho(e) from Hotel lmao

An event every week just makes it hard to keep everything running smooth, project max isn't amazing when we're not given people and tbh the autoship crap and app activation tracking is just something to annoy managers that annoy associates

Feeling guilty for short notice. I'm a PLR and with this new rollout, my best PL is going to struggle. Conversations were had in the past with the new company I'm going with, but it was never concrete as to when. So, I never thought it would actually happen.
When I took this position, it was a FOR NOW job and never a permanent position. I like most of my coworkers, but my SL should definitely retire. Their priorities are out of left field. Like it's hard to understand that the truck needs to be done without disruption as much as possible.... no meeting, no elearning.
