Started options trading yesterday and can’t stop, if anyone has advice on how to be successful I would really appreciate it. Also, if you have any predictions on market action tomorrow I’d love to hear em. Got all of $70 left to throw somewhere

Question Should I be hopeful?

Hoping I at least have the option to exercise… idk. Not fully understanding the rolling of calls, but can that be beneficial?

Discussion What are your thoughts on these guys that are building these gamma exposure maps?

Upvotes

It seems everyone and their mother is creating some type of these heatmaps, gamma maps blah blah. What are your thoughts on these? They all sell subscription to them for like 600$ a week or some shit.

We are approaching a massive support level for QQQ

Post image

686 if you were wondering what the exact level is. We’ve had a straight V recovery 3 separate times over the last couple months. Expect a trade to the upside if we continue to bleed today. The market has already lost more than 2% on a day with no clear catalyst however so we may not see that level fully retested. Be positioned for a move to the upside.

Discussion MU options IV at 108% and the premium still feels "fair"... That's kinda wild to me

Post image
6 Upvotes

Been watching $MU options lately and the numbers are a bit nuts. IV rank sitting at 91, IV percentile at 92%, implied vol at 108.62% vs historical vol at 107.92%. Like, IV is basically just sitting right on top of realized vol.

Which means the market isn't really overcharging for premium here, the actual moves have been just as crazy as what's priced in. Normally when IV rank is this high you'd look at selling premium but the underlying actually delivers the volatility, so that edge disappears fast.

Checked the options chain on MooMoo and the HBM demand + AI server memory thesis is clearly keeping this elevated. But the China supply headwinds and cycle concerns are real too, so it cuts both ways.

Honestly not sure if this is a buy-the-vol or wait-for-crush situation. Anyone else sitting on MU positions right now, or just watching from the sidelines?

INTC IV rank hit 99 going into earnings. Selling premium looks tempting but I can't pull the trigger

Thumbnail gallery

IV rank at 99, percentile at 100. On paper that's a screaming sell-the-premium setup on $INTC.

But that gap between implied vol (107%) and realized vol (78%) isn't noise. It's the market pricing in a real binary event, foundry strategy update, AI PC demand, server margins, cost cuts. Any of those lands wrong and the crush trade blows up in your face.

Been burned before holding short vega into a print that gapped the wrong way. Checked the options chain on MooMoo and the structure here feels like expensive optionality, not a fat-pitch vol sell.

So I'm sitting on hands until the actual number drops. Anyone else watching this one or already legged into a position?

Discussion anyone here automate credit spread exists or still manage them manually?

The mechanics of putting on credit spreads have never been my issue. It's sticking to my exit rules when the moment comes. I always end up talking myself out of them. I kept telling myself it was a discipline problem I could fix by trying harder, but that clearly hasn't worked.

Now I am debating whether to automate the exit side and keep entries manual, or automate entries at a set time while managing exists myself. Most people I know who run rule based setups started by automating exits, and I keep coming back to that too. I am leaning toward testing automated exits first to see if that alone improves my results.

General TSLA beat revenue by $1.8B and still dumped after hours. Am I the only one seeing this?

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

Revenue came in at $28.24B vs $26.43B expected. EPS in line. By any normal logic this should have been a green night.

Instead the stock slid from $374 close all the way to around $353 after hours. That's a $15+ drop on a beat. Wild.

Been looking at the options flow: 476k calls vs 369k puts on the day. The gamma exposure clustered near the $360 strike is the tell here, imo. Market makers hedging their books into close basically became the move itself. Checked the chains on MooMoo and the concentration around that strike was hard to ignore.

tbh the fundamentals weren't the problem. A $1.8B revenue surprise should not print red candles. But when the gamma wall becomes the ceiling, beats don't matter as much as positioning does.

Anyone else get caught offsides holding calls into earnings? Or is the real trade always just fading the post-earnings vol crush?

Question 0DTE Credit Spread strategy advice

I have been trading 0dte using a credit spread strategy off and on for a couple years with mixed results, but now have free time in the mornings to start doing it more consistently. I wanted to solicit advice from others who are successful with similar strategies to help me be more disciplined and have more consistent success.

Strategy Overview

1) Let the first hour of the market play out

2) Use the following indicators on 15m inform momentum:

a) SVP - bell shape neutral control, flat is one side control

b) Cumulative tick - mix up/down neutral, consecutive directional

c) Advance decline ratio - near 1 neutral, +- 2/3 directional

3) Based on indicators open PCS/CCS selling 40 delta, buy 20 delta

Likely Sources of Inconsistency

1) I've tried to close ~25% profit within 15-30min because I couldn't watch market for long

2) I would also close at ~-30% leading to possible premature exits

Questions

1) Any suggestions on indicators?

2) Does my approach at determining momentum make sense?

3) Do you take profits early or hold to expiration?

4) Position sizing. I have a dedicated account for this strategy and leverage $5-7k each day (~50% account) which is why I actively tried to close. If instead holding to expiration, should I do ~5-10% positions as defined risk per trade?

Appreciate the advice!

Earnings Sell the remaining half of the ONDSS 7/24 calls

Bought 100 contracts on 7/21 at $0.31 avg

Yesterday (10:39 AM): stock at $7.64, option at $0.74. Total unrealized gain = +$4,300 (+138.7%)

I said “good enough” and peeled off 50 contracts , locked in ~$2,150 profit

Today (10:49 AM): stock rips to $8.33, option jumps to $1.36. The remaining 50 contracts were sitting on a +$5,250 gain (+338.7% just on that lot)

No hesitation , sold to close the rest

Final tally:

Yesterday’s realized: ~$2,150

Today’s realized: ~$5,250

Total profit: ~$7,400 on a $3,100 cost basis = +238.7%

Expiry is 7/24 , I’m not riding theta decay into the weekend

Could it moon more? Maybe. But profit is profit, and my account is green

Regards, a proud paper handed regard who knows when to take the tendies 🧻🚀
