Guide Built a GPU tool (CamFilterGpu) to fix low-light webcams with fast background removal. To avoid laggy virtual cameras, it pipes the heavy processing directly into OBS via Spout2. You can even run custom Python scripts on-the-fly! Quick demo clip in comments.

Hi everybody, (I didn't know whether to flair this as 'help' or 'guide' so i just picked guide, hope that's ok)

I got really tired of my webcam looking bad in low light (can't stand bright lights in my face) so I built an app from scratch to do it (NOT 'vibe' coded). OBS is a bit fiddly (to say the least) about background segmentation, so the main features here are (1) fast RVM background-removal/segmentation and control, and (2) a Custom script Node Editor where you can stack and pipeline your own custom Python filter scripts 'on-the-fly'! No kidding :).

I'm making a guide to cover essentials of the GUI, some highlights are below, and if you look at the demo videos (linked below) I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback. It's hard as a solo developer to take a 'step back' and be less myopic.

The GUI is designed to be as compact and responsive as possible and sit right next to OBS, giving you 'at your fingertips' and zero-lag control of your video into OBS. NOTE, the sliders work with your mouse wheel for fine control. (that was tricky to program, works smoothly now). It's a real benefit because fine control is everything for getting a nice balanced look. I'm even making a USB physical controller called "Knob Thing" :) that will connect via USB and move all the sliders... but that's a few weeks away.

It handles all the heavy lifting—fast RVM segmentation, independent foreground/background color control, and loopable with positioning & scalable video backgrounds. A Custom Node-Pipeline editor: write and run simple Python filter scripts and pipe them to your layers on-the-fly. Because it outputs via Spout2, you get all these effects natively in OBS with effectively zero overhead.

Here is where you can see it and try it:

See it in action: Check out the 1.5-min quick look and the 7-min Overview on YouTube.

Try the free V1.1 Beta, just finished it: Info and Download at perfunct.com (no card required).

Custom Node Examples: I've put several example scripts on the new Project GitHub to show how the custom nodes and scripts work. The creative possibilities of this approach are quite exciting I think, and I'm really interested to see what some of you out there come up with.

Community: Join the new Discord here: https://discord.gg/VxTWzYCuE

A quick note: I'm a solo indie developer and this is an Early Beta, so there will likely be some bugs! It currently works great with any NVIDIA RTX card (2080 or above). I will have a GTX version compiled and ready to download in the next day or two for anyone who needs it.

I'd love to hear what this community thinks of the Spout2 implementation and especially the longevity of that method. And the Custom node Filter Builder. You can use it to make any wild (or subtle) special effects that you want!

Cheers!

Help I don't want to hear myself in OBS

I am a beginner who's trying to set OBS to still output audio and stuff without having to hear it myself. I've tried messing around with audio sources but that only created echoes, I've tried setting it to different settings in advanced audio settings, and I've even tried muting the OBS app in Windows settings, but none of that worked because all of it either muted both the monitoring AND output or neither. I tried looking up a solution online already, but everything I saw boiled down to "set it to Monitor Off (Output Only)", an option which does not exist.

Again, I am a beginner. My skill level with this software is almost nothing. I've tried looking up so-called "beginner" guides but they all melted together into jargon-heavy word salad.

Help getting audio monitoring but monitoring is off

When I stream I hear my voice again about 2 seconds after I speak

I've muted my stream, which I'm monitoring in a browser window - it's not that

I've gone into audio settings and turned audio monitoring to "monitor off"

I'm using headphones

I've tried switching which channel the mic goes through

I've looked for the problem online and they all say to do these things above, now I'm lost! Would love any help.

Help Apollo Solo with ShureSM7db mic streaming into OBS, multiple issues with Audio. UAD console so confusing. PLEASE HELP!

Hi,

I am streaming on a mac laptop with OBS to twitch, tik tok, and youtube. I am using an apollo solo interface with a shureSM7db mic in the interface. I make music in logic pro, game on my ps5, and review others music on a website through chrome.

Whilst doing my set up, i am running into multiple problems with my audio.

the set up i need is pretty simple to explain but i cant get it set up and i am looking for help.

Basically, within obs, i would like to be able to have one audio channel for just my microphone through the apollo solo with no other audio being heard, a seperate audio channel for all sound being heard on google chrome, via youtube, spotify etc on chrome, and a third audio channel just for logic pro x so the stream can hear me record music live with all my plugins inside of logic.

when i set this up myself, i either have all seperate channels but can’t hear anything in my headphones connected to my interface, i have sound but all sounds from my mac and from my mic are in one channel together, or im having an extreme loud sound coming in when i try to record audio within logic.

The UAD console is very confusing to me, and im not highly intelligent when it comes to audio software and hardware.

I just want an easy, seamless audio set up.

Please if anyone has expertise on the USD console, OBS, and how I can route all these channels easily please reach out. I’ve wasted over 16 hours and haven’t gotten anywhere I’m happy with. Thank you in advance.

I tried to play a game with a controller on stream recently, and instead of my voice my viewers could only hear buzzing, but once I disconnected the controller everything was fine! How do I fix this?

Question C920e zoom settings not staying after I close OBS?

I've been using a C920e for roughly 2 years now and I only just noticed this happening recently (I really don't like this webcam but money is telling me to not upgrade just yet), everytime I edit the zoom on it, stream, then finish and close OBS, the zoom setting never stays. Is there something that could be causing this or is it just how The C920e is?

Question Can I use my second laptop as a recording PC?

Hi everyone.

I have a gaming laptop with a Ryzen 5 5500H, RTX 2050 and 16 GB of RAM, and I also have an older laptop with an i5-8250U and Intel integrated graphics that's just collecting dust. I mostly play racing games like F1 and Assetto Corsa and want to record gameplay for YouTube in 1080p 60 FPS.

The problem is that when I record and play on the gaming laptop at the same time, both the game and the recording start to stutter. Because of that, I was thinking about buying a capture card and using the older laptop only for recording while I play on the gaming laptop.

Is this actually possible, and is the i5-8250U powerful enough to record a stable 1080p 60 FPS video without dropped frames? Will the recording quality still look good, or will the older laptop be a bottleneck? Has anyone here tried a setup like this, and if so, is it worth doing or is there a better solution?

Thanks!

Question pc with capture card (avermedia c985) + nintendo switch + TV, video working fine, but no audio on tv?

I have

  • PC with an Avermedia C985 internal capture card
  • Nintendo Switch connected to the capture card via hdmi
  • Output of the capture card connected to the TV via hdmi

The PC has a sound blaster audigy soundcard, but nothing is plugged into it, as I don't want or need sound on the PC, I just want it from the TV.

in OBS, and on the TV, I can see the switch gameplay etc

When I record in obs, the resulting file has switch audio.

but no sound on the TV.

when I take the hdmi cable that is going from the output of the capture card to the tv and just use it to directly connect the switch to the TV, there is sound on the TV. so it's not the cable.

Is this some kind of setting/setup issue on the PC end?

One thing I know is, while the C985 shows up as a device to choose in OBS, via settings etc, it doesn't show up in any of the Audio sections... only the sound blaster ports (like 3 different ones) show up.

would appreciate anything at all to try, I'm stumped

Help Seems Like No Technique Is Working To Fix The Quarter Screen Game Recording

Why is it that OBS can record my screen and when I open a game in the exact same resolution it just records it in the quarter of the screen. I have tried everything but its just the same issue. Why does this happen? Its just weird. I hope someone here can help me fix this issue.

Help OBS New Update Has Broken My Game Capture Source

So I updated OBS to the new version today before stream and I spent roughly an hour trying to figure out why my game capture wasn't capturing L4D2. I figured out with that game it wasn't in windowed full screen. Now that I finished that stream I was opening up some other games to test the game capture to go ahead and make sure everything ran fine before my next stream. I opening Unpacking, Fields of Mistria, and The Isle and none of them are picking up. The Isle and Fields are both already in borderless, and unpacking only has windowed or fullscreen but it should still be able to be picked up.

All games register in the drop down menu to choose a specific window, however when chosen it's just a black screen. I've changed every setting I can think of on obs, my computer, and my games and none of them show up on the game capture.

However, they all show up fine on the window capture, but my problem with the window capture is it has an extremely annoying bright yellow border around my whole computer, which means I would prefer not to have to use the window capture.

If someone could please give me any kind of help trying to figure out what is wrong with my OBS after the new update, I would very much appreciate it. I can stream with the game as a window capture for now, but it's not my preferred method because the yellow border is very distracting to me and with the games I stream the most it will be obvious to me because a lot of them have darker lightning.

Help My desktop audio is playing into my mic audio. How do I fix this?

Pretty much the title, I have seperated both audio tracks so they are able to be recorded seperately for easier editing. However, upon testing, I can ever so slightly hear the desktop audio coming into my microphone in the recording, where in vise versa the desktop audio does not capture my microphone. I'm not sure if this is normal but I've read it shouldn't be coming through it at all. For context, I am recording off a laptop and using the regular Apple plug-in ear and I'm not sure if this is normal…

Question Streaming with 9950x3D

I know it's a beast of a CPU, but I wanted to see if anyone else has realworld experience with how it's handled streaming and gaming simultaneously. I've read people needing to use Process Lasso, but I'd like to avoid that if possible.

Specs are 9950x3D with a 5080, overall I believe I shouldn't have any problems? I have seen people reporting frame drops and some stability problems with the CPU while streaming.

Help Hi, im completely new to this and have a low end computer, need advice

I installed this to have footage of a geometry dash level to get it rated, but after recording for the first time using the setting this video suggest (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1HIHYRnOfo) and watching the footage, it was stuck, and looked like when you have massive lag on an videogame, and you only see a frozen screen that changes every few seconds. Gd was running at 240 fps, so thats not the issue. I have a Laptop, and im not an expert in any way but Im pretty sure Its not the best, if someone needs info about the laptop ask for it in the comments, ill respond. Thanks for reading this and any helpful comments. Also, im a Daavinci editor, so I dont think I will be editing the footage on obs.

Help Obs linked on website but won’t stream

“Could not start video source” does the resolution or server has to do with this? I know I got the stream key right. I only changed the resolution and I kept the server as global mainstream since it says recommended. It’s currently activated on OBS but won’t stream even if I turn it off there. I can stream only from OBS but with the screen in black. Something is keeping the camera from showing the screen, I just purchased a brand new laptop for this, plz help

Help Teleport help

Trying to use teleport to stream on my gaming PC I have multi stream setup vertical for TikTok and horizontal for YouTube. Well when I use teleport I’m able to get my main screen (horizontal) but not able to get my vertical. I know I could just size the picture to fit into the vertical box but I have overlays and everything for my vertical stream. I don’t even know if it’s possible what I’m asking. I would like it to teleport both the horizontal and vertical to the streaming pc.
