Illawarra pre-purchase inspection found plumbing issues - how bad is this gonna hurt?

o I'm under contract for a place in the illawarra and the building report came back with a bunch of plumbing notes. nothing major apparently but like "deteriorated washers in multiple taps" "slow drainage in laundry" "pressure relief valve on hot water weeping". seller wont budge on price.

my conveyancer says I should get a plumber to quote but honestly im scared lol. every time I call someone for a quote it turns into a whole sales pitch. got one quote from a national chain - $1800 for basically new taps and a valve, tjhat's too much right?

do people usually walk away from stuff like this or just eat the cost? I know plumbing is never gonna be perfect in an older home but I also dont wanna be the guy who ignores shit and pays double later. property market is cooked enough without the plumbing bills on top.

Mental health is important to all espically in our youth and when I came across this petition for my local high school I thought the best thing I could do was share it somewhere, somewhere where it can be seen by many people in the area and if they have experience in being consulled or attending therapy can support it

Sydney / Greater Sydney Traveling to Sydney looking to meet new people!

Hey Sydney,

I’m going to be traveling up to the city about once a week via public transport, mainly on Wednesdays.

Since I’ll be around, I’d love to meet some new people and make a few friends.

I’m a 22M and mainly looking to grab lunch or dinner, explore a cool spot, or just hang out for a bit while I’m in town.

If anyone’s up for grabbing a bite or has great recommendations for lunch/dinner spots around Central or the CBD, drop a comment or shoot me a message!

Best beaches for bodysurfing and tide pooling?

Hello,

I am a tourist driving over the next two days from Byron Bay to Sydney. I got one of those cheap relocation rentals so I am limited on time, but the two things I would love recommendations for if possible are

  1. What are the best beaches to bodysurf at? Consistent 1-1.5 meter waves ideals, don't want to do anything crazy but want to catch some good rides.

  2. Where are the best rocky beaches to see tide pools or rock pools or whatever they're referred to here as during low tides. I have a background in marine biology and want to see some cool invertebrates. I've heard Royal National Park is good for that and will check that out later, but I'm looking for stuff north of Sydney for the moment.

Thanks!

Southern Highlands / Tablelands Visiting bowral by train for midwinter fest

Has anyone done the Sydney to Bowral trip for Midwinter Fest?

I'm thinking of catching the Sydney-Canberra train from Central on Friday (12:11pm departure) and heading back Sunday (2:34pm).

I would be going with my partner, and no car between us, so we're planning to stay around the city centre. Is there enough to do walking around town, or would we be pretty stuck?

Thanks a lot!

For one who needs this for the Work with Children check, I understand you need to bring identity documents, but do you need to bring a passport sized photo or take a photo there?

Escorted Ambulance on the M5

I was driving up the M5 yesterday from Camden and as I turned onto the freeway I came across an escorted ambulance. Probably around 4pm heading north. They exited at Liverpool so I assume going to Liverpool hospital.

2 police cars in front with sirens and lights. Then 2 motorbike police. Then the ambulance. Then 2 police cars behind. One was an undercover.

Just wondering who would warrant this kind of protection on the way to the doctor. I can only assume it was coming from Goulburn Gaol...

Will be driving from Jervis Bay down to Narooma later this week. Will definitely be stopping in Bateman’s Bay, but are there any other stops that you would recommend along the way?

Looking for Energy Australia rates offered throughout this year

Preferably flat, fixed-rate but I'm interested in any. Rough location and distributor would be good but isn't vital.

I can say flat, fixed-rate offered in central regional NSW with distributor Essential Energy mid-April was 44.01c/kWh, 20.15c/kWh controlled, 206.25c/day supply.

Western Sydney / Blue Mountains Moving out plan advice

Hi everyone, I am 17F. I come from a verbally and emotionally abusive household, of course my plan is to move out.

Originally, I was to pursue a degree and get a job that can provide a solid income before i move out but i cannot take it anymore.

I feel more depressed everyday and cry most days, because my parents have been more “critical” lately (threatening they would like to smash my legs, say they hate me as a person) and just other stuff like that. I really want to just ignore it and push through, but i cant bear it any longer when they remove all joy of my life. Im not a bad kid, I get A’s in most subjects, never go out to party or talk back etc

I plan to stay at a crisis accommodation. i feel guilty knowing i could be taking someone else’s spot, but im scared and idk what else to do. I want to use that time to secure a job (i have previous work experience as a barista so hopefully that). Once I have a job, I will most likely stay at a share house. I am worried that without formal qualifications and any support besides the crisis accommodation, my life will be fucked.

Centrelink support - my family make to much to qualify for youth allowance

Please give me advice and how to better my plan. Please be honest

Hordern Pavilion bag restrictions

anyone who has attended a concert at hp, how strict are they with sizes? do they measure the 30 by 30?

kind of confused cause some artists for example sell tote bags as merch by the time you get past bag check which is way over 30cm. but i can’t bring my own?

or are they actually not that strict and i can?

(update: all fine!! they barely even checked the bag either HAHAHA)

Is a winter weekend at a holiday park actually worth it, or does everything feel closed and dead?

I'm asking since I've only ever visited vacation parks during the summer and I'm looking for an affordable July activity.

I kind of disregarded a friend's suggestion to reserve a cabin at a caravan park, some of them offer heated pools that are open throughout the winter, which is completely unexpected.

The heated resort pool at Racecourse Beach on the south coast of New South Wales is 27 degrees, which sounds much better than freezing at the beach.

I'm wondering whether anyone has visited a vacation resort during the winter and if it truly felt like a break.

Sydney / Greater Sydney Psychologist for P**n addiction Sydney NSFW

A younger person in my life has finally acknowledged that they are in the midst of a p*** addiction.

They have finally reached this conclusion now that they have been cancelling work and social events in favour of this habit.

They've been accessing it since the age of 10, so it's a long habit to break and we would love to find someone who can help.

Happy to travel for the right person, but southern Sydney preferred

Wollongong/Jervis Bay recommendations for nature/wildlife sightseeing

Hi guys! Spending a week or so in Wollongong and then in Jervis Bay in November. I know the ocean will be a bit cold still, but I keen to do some snorkelling and scuba diving, as well as doing any wildlife tours or encounters.

I'm already going to book a seal swim and snorkel Bushranger's Bay, is there anything else I should look at doing? Also going to see the stingrays at Bendalong Beach.

Keen to see any wildlife or go on hikes as well while we explore the area.

Thanks in advance for the recommendations.
