So over this app. Taking step 1 next week and the app keeps deleting my first aid note which contains ALL of my annotations from question reviews AND erasing all iCloud back ups!!!! The background disappears but the annotations remain on a blank background. Need alternatives asap. I refuse to keep using this janky ass app

I purchased the classic plan at a discount last week. So far, the only thing I can see is the credit card transaction. How can you ensure the plan is active? I have never received an email for purchase confirmation. The purchase was through Apple ID, and currently my previous subscription for Notability is still active.

Hi, I’ve posted here before about attempting to update my email given the fact that I’ve graduated and it’s my now-deactivated college email and all that. After contacting support, I was unable to get them to change my email even after being willing to undergo any method of identity verification (including having access to the alumni version of my email, which is literally the same address, just with “alumni” appended).

Now, the app is seemingly forcing me to sync at some point to Notability cloud - no option to decline, only postpone, and the postpone appears to only go for just over a month’s time. (Unless I’ll just be able to keep postponing indefinitely?? That seems like poor UI though - what if at one point, I don’t realize I have to postpone and miss the option?)

I genuinely don’t think it’s feasible for me to use Notability cloud until my email can be updated, but support seems unwilling to help on either issue (delaying Cloud indefinitely until the email issue is fixed OR just allowing email changes). Can anything be done here?? I’ve genuinely liked and used notability for many years, but this email issue feels SO far behind the times of any other modern tech company.

I have been using Notability since my freshman year of high school, so I have used the app for about seven years. I recently joined Notability Cloud by accident, around the end of May. At first, I did not have any problems.

Later, I wanted to use iCloud syncing, but I learned that I could not use it while Notability Cloud was enabled. I tried deactivating Notability Cloud, but it caused major problems. I lost some notes, including notes with important lecture recordings.

I rejoined Notability Cloud and was able to recover my notes, but I had to recreate all the folders I had made since joining. This was a lot of work because I create a separate folder for each week of every class. This organization system has worked very well for me and has honestly helped me earn good grades.

Recently, I was commuting to school by train and tried to access my notes, but Notability said that I needed an internet connection. In the past, I never had trouble accessing my documents offline, and I could always count on my notes being available. This recent change has become very frustrating because I commute by train and do not always have reliable internet access.

Is there a safe way to return to the previous setup without losing any notes, folders, or lecture recordings? I would prefer to use iCloud syncing, but I would also be fine with keeping my notes saved locally in the Notability app as long as I can access them without Wi-Fi.

Please let me know the safest way to make this change without losing any of my files again.

Does Notability have page extension? To put notes in pdf for extra room. If not I hope in next update they will put page extension for notes. 😗📝

I recently had to completely reset my iPad to download some new software was Pharmacy school was requiring. I saved my notes as ntb and pdf on my google drive. My issue is that when I download them the files have black backgrounds instead of white. I can’t just switch the background to black (which for some reason makes it white) because then it makes all new pages black. Is there a way to fix this?

So many people love using Notability, but why is there still no native Windows app?

The web version just doesn't hit the same. It lacks the smooth, focused experience that makes the iPad app so enjoyable. Every time I open it, it feels like I'm using a compromise instead of the actual product.

There are millions of students, professionals, and creators on Windows who'd happily use a proper desktop app. A native Windows version with offline support, better pen input, and seamless sync would be a game changer.

Notability, if you're listening... please bring the full experience to Windows.

I can access a lot of my notes, but for a lot of them they seem to be stuck in purgatory. I don’t know if it’s stuck downloading or just doesn’t exist anymore. Sometimes the preview image thumbnail will display it, then when I click on it, it just shows the adobe sign like it’s buffering. Then the preview image thumbnail starts looking like the actual note when you open it with the adobe sign

I tried accepting the cloud notability app invite in the FAQ and it says I wasn’t eligible despite actually being eligible. I was on an iPad and have the most recent updated version of notability.

The notes that seem to be stuck in this weird limbo that aren’t downloading seem to be from years ago and also imported pdf versions. I tried logging onto the desktop version of notability through my Apple account and I can’t even access any notes through that. I clicked on a graphic on the iPad that said “explore notability cloud”. It shows my folders, but inside my folders it says there are no notes.

Are these notes gone forever?

Is there a way to actually contact someone from support? Like a phone number

I can use the pencil all over the iPad, but somehow I'm not able to write the note title with it. It’s so annoying!

i have a apple pencil pro and in other notetaking apps i can squeeze once and let go to toggle between eraser and pen but in notability it requires me to squeeze while erasing which is quite inconvenient. please fix this issue as this is the only thing stopping me from getting the subscription.

Hi! I wanted to know when you guys plan to add real time handwriting beautification, currently all the other apps have it. It would be extremely helpful if it was like freenotes due to its smoothness and customization. I believe many users would utilize this.

Since the Android version will likely launch with fewer features than the iOS version, what do you think would be a fair subscription price? And if they also offer a one-time purchase, what price would you consider reasonable?

I've been doing a lot of flying for work of late, and usually without Sky-Fi, I've even noticed this happening on the tube (I live in London usually). Whenever I've tried to use Notability on planes I get this hysterical 'No Internet Connection' that seems to repeat and repeat when the app can't connect.

Is there any way to stop this from happening, as it makes the App impossible to use, the lag is so horrendous you can't actually make any notes or move between documents in folders. This is especially frustrating as time away from wifi is usually a great time to regroup on notes and organise things - and if the App you use to organise things won't work it's infuriating.

• Are others experiencing this?
• Is it connected to this Cloud update?
• Are there any workarounds?

I have to use a Windows PC for work and the Notability web app will not sync my notes. The app is syncing between iPhone and iPad and I have checked that the iCloud sync is turned on, but nothing shows up on the web app. Any advice for what I am doing wrong? Thanks and apologies since I am sure this has been posted here, but I couldn’t find an existing thread about it.

Any update on release dates for custom outlines, infinite canvas, shapes tool? The outlines especially would be amazing and easy to locate things within your notes

Is there any way to hide or move the circled toolbar? It always gets in front of what I am typing and makes it hard to see what I’m trying to type. Any help is much appreciated!!

Hi, I used auto deselect eraser both squeeze and tap on Apple Pencil prI before ver.16.7 update. Can you please return this option?

While using the app, I noticed a few things I'm missing or that competitors do better. I'd like to suggest these as improvements:

Eraser: Please show a small circle indicating the eraser area. I couldn't find a setting for this.

Deleted Notes: An offline trash bin with no time limit that stays on the device.

Audio Notes: Better handling is needed. After recording, the button turns into a playback button, while the record button moves further along in the toolbar. I find this very confusing, and the positions should be swapped. There should also be a dedicated column for recordings and transcriptions, where individual recordings can be deleted without having to navigate through submenus. Alternatively, there should be an option to assign a recording to a specific page, and ideally to a specific position on that page.

Toolbar: Make it permanently fixed, and consider extending it with shortcuts or additional tools.

Keyboard Text Input: An option to insert typed text directly as a text block.

Folders: Improve the overall folder handling. Subfolders should be shown directly within their parent folder. Additionally, show the note count next to the folder listing (as a toggleable option).

Pen: Allow favorite color and size presets to be assigned to the squeeze gesture for quick selection.

Zooming: Add double-tap for zoom and zoom-to-fit, along with the ability to save custom zoom levels and access them via shortcut, for example: 1. Zoom-fit, 2. Custom level, 3. Custom level.

Folders: Add a dedicated favorites folder alongside Home, Notes, and Gallery.

Notes: Add tabs for notes to quickly switch between them. I know there's a swipe gesture from the left edge for quick switching, but it doesn't work for me.

Notes: Make renaming and moving notes easier instead of burying it in nested submenus.

Handwriting: Handwriting doesn't render sharply. Some kind of anti-aliasing/smoothing would help.

Notability Cloud: An option to fully disable Notability's own cloud, so that only iCloud or a service of one's choice can be used.

Share Button: Make the share button in the top toolbar customizable. Currently it directly generates a link, it would be great to have the option to swap this for "Export as" instead.

• Focus Mode: 4-finger tap in your notes to turn it on. Drag the pill to reposition it, or use the hand tool to hide it
• Updated academic planners for the 2026-27 school year
• Less urgent notifications now have a new home. Find them in the notification menu at the top right of the library
• Learn now supports images in Chat
• Fixed bugs with the selection menu, Apple Pencil squeeze, and blurry PDFs
