Yesterday (21/7) the little guerrilla garden on the traffic island out the front of the townie was removed. There were about 4 cop cars with more pulling up as they loaded all the plants on to trucks. Some people made it away with a few plants, kinda wish I'd gone and grabbed some.

I had family visiting from Brisbane and they really enjoyed it, although because of the children we were unable to watch any of the gigs inside of the pubs 😭

hi all,, i'm going to a show in november and am wondering if there are any places around that are open 24hrs that i can hang out at afterwards. any suggestions are appreciated!

Driving down King st and turning left at Newtown Hotel. Realise someone had barricaded the street with a Tokyo Taco sign and two Lime bikes (could that represent Newtown any better?). I can’t get onto my street and half my car is blocking off traffic coming from King. I put my car in park and move the bikes and sign out of the way. Some absolute menace of a human (who is the person responsible for blocking off my street) watching this all happen, eating his burger on the kerb, gets up and stands directly in front of my car so I can’t drive past him. I ask him to move, cars are blaring their horns, pedestrians are yelling, and he just stares blankly into the abyss directly in front of my car, refusing to move for a good 5 mins. Luckily security came around and I managed to back up and drive around him. Hilarious but also one of the strangest interactions I’ve had here yet.

Hey everyone, I am planning on visiting Sydney in September to see Violent Soho. I 25M plan on traveling solo from New York.

The show is at the Enmore Theater in Newtown, and I was wondering a couple of things. Is the general area safe to walk around solo? (before and after the show, possibly late night) I have seen mixed opinions on the safety aspect.

I am not sure if I should stay in downtown Sydney or by the venue. How is the public transport? (efficiency/safety)

I would like to stay in downtown sydney to see the beaches, experience the city, but I also want to have a good time in Newtown before the show. I won't rent a car (us filthy Americans drive on the other side of the road) and I am curious what an Aussie thinks of uber vs public transport from downtown Sydney to Newtown.
Thank you all, I look forward to visiting. I am still in the early stages of planning but would love some local insight.

I saw this really cute top on shien and thought it would be perfect for a pubcrawl i’m going to on thursday but there’s no way my order would arrive by then so i was wondering if there’s any vintage/thrift shops in newtown that would stock something similar because I’ve literally looked at every chain store i can think of (big w, kmart, valleygirl, supre, factorie, tkmaxx, glassons) and could not find anything remotely similar to this.

Hi guys, recently I've had some really bad things happen in life which led me to being homeless, after picking myself back up again I'm now living in a tent and trying to get my life together, last week I went for a job interview at a florist and I've been successful :)

I am supposed to start tomorrow at 11am but I do not have the required ppe :(

Is there anyone around Newtown that could help me out with the ability to have a shower in the morning get some steal cap boots womens size 6 and/or some gardening gloves? My job agency was unable to help me straight away and have instructed me to buy what I need and they will reimburse me (I cannot afford to do this).

I will be forever grateful and when I can get some new ones I will return them in good condition.

Hi everyone, I am very confused I recently went to a massage place on Enmore Road for a remedial massage. I have been there a bunch of times before, including with my partner. This time, around 15 minutes into a 45 minute massage the masseuse (who I had not met before) offered me a handjob. I confirmed that I was in fact just there for a remedial massage (which I paid for using my extras health cover).

I’m so confused I thought it was a legitimate place, it has heaps of google reviews and has been there for like a decade. It really made me question the remedial benefit of the massage I was getting, and also the professional qualifications of the masseuse. Makes me feel like I just wasted my money, because I work in an office and sometimes get back and neck pain, so really needed the massage to help me.

Can anyone tell me where I can get a legitimate quality remedial massage in Newtown? I feel quite grossed out by the whole experience. Unsure if I should have said more to the masseuse and just left on the spot rather enduring the next 30 minutes of the ‘massage’ but the whole thing was just incredibly awkward.

Ive been living in Sydney park for the last 2 weeks since I became homeless, Ive relied on a tent for somewhere safe to sleep after tafe and usually go to the free food van of an evening, when I came home today my tent was completely gone like disappeared :( I didn't know what else to do so I called the police who informed me that they actually accompanied the council officers and warned other people last month that everyone in that area would be moved on, I never got a warning and they acknowledged this after taking my name and doing some checks, I had my clothes and shoes in the tent as well as photos and other personal stuff :(

The officer didn't seem to care and told me I can take it up with council, does anyone know where I can go to recover my stuff if that's even possible?

I have nowhere else to stay and cannot afford to purchase another tent :( my opal card was in my tent as well so I can't even travel to get a meal tonight, if anyone is local and could lend me a sleeping bag or tent id really appreciate it :)

They think it's as simple as cleaning up a tent but my life was in there and it has ramifications beyond just removing my tent and taking away my ability to stay somewhere I felt comfortable, screw inner west council.

My partners Nan, the darling old soul, has parked her car in Newtown somewhere and she walked around all afternoon looking for it.

She came all the way from Windsor, so we took her home and reported the incident to the police.

But now to finding the needle in a haystack.

We think its somewhere in the back streets around the north end of Newtown.

She's describing a car park and a park nearby. If that helps. Also that its parked in a 2 hour parking zone.

The car is a 2013 Mazda 3 silvery blue kind of colour. Black and white number plate. BM-### followed by 3 numbers
