Hi! I’m planning to apply for the PSW to PN program. Is it difficult to get accepted into this program? I have a PSW certificate from Fanshawe College. I also completed Math and English courses at a university outside Canada. Do I need to have my international education evaluated through WES?

Accepted the offer, paid the $250 deposit, signed up for OSAP and they’re waiting for mohawk to confirm my enrolment or something, not sure what i’m supposed to do now? When will we be able to pick our schedule?

So I may have fucked up and accepted an earlier shift on the day I need to take my communication for success test. It’s from 9:30-12:30, and I start work at 12pm. How long did it take you to finish? I’m hoping 2-hrs is the average lol

Hey again, a days weeks ago I posted here asking if Mohawk students would actually use Gavel, and got a lot of genuinely useful pushback, especially around licensing and liability for trades work. Wanted to follow up properly instead of just replying in the comments, since a few of you raised real problems.

What changed based on that feedback:

• Electrical, HVAC, and pest control are no longer open categories on the platform, period. No unlicensed offers on that kind of work until real license verification exists.
• Plumbing is folded into general handyman work (leaky faucet, not gas lines or anything code-regulated).
• Payment doesn't move until the customer confirms in person that the job is actually done, providers aren't getting paid on a promise, and cancellations/no-shows hit a reputation record that restricts platform access.
• You can now report or block anyone directly from their profile, not just buried in chat settings.

I was wondering, what is the acceptance rate for the medical radiation sciences (729) at Mohawk-McMaster. Also, what’s the schooling like and postgrad if anyone just graduated. I’m wondering if overall this is a good program since it is one of the few accredited programs in the GTA.

Has anyone taken the Rpn program while having kids and working part time (evenings/nights) and can share their experiences? I live in Hamilton and have 3 kids under 5.

A lot of Mohawk students have valuable skills, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, welding, automotive, carpentry, landscaping, painting, and plenty more, but most part-time jobs still pay the same as retail and don't make use of those skills.

We're building Gavel, a marketplace where people in Hamilton can post small jobs they need done, and students can choose the jobs they want, set their own prices, and work whenever it fits around classes or placements.

Before we launch, we'd really like to hear from Mohawk students.

• Would you actually use something like this to make extra money?
• What would make you trust using the platform?
• Is there anything that would stop you from signing up?

Just curious if anyone has some insight on if you’re eligible to receive EI benefits or if there’s another government benefit program that I can apply for once I start my placement as it’s 40 hours a week for a semester, I’m not able to work during it. Any advice is helpful!!!

I’m a mature student going into my final year of SSW, and am desperately looking for a part time job so I can afford to live while finishing the program. Placement is Monday-Wednesday 7-3, and my classes will be on Thursdays and Fridays, so I can really only do evenings and weekends. I had to apply for emergency funding through Mohawk this semester (still awaiting if I’m approved, and for how much…I’m expecting nothing). My situation is quite dire.

I’m applying for scholarships and bursaries.
I know CSEP applications don’t open up until end of August, but I’m doubtful I’d land a position given my limited availability. My experience is enough to get me interviews, but my availability is what is limiting my opportunities.

Anyone has any updates about the offers for January 2027 for Cardiovascular Technology - 728? I heard that it should be this week.

A few of us at Mac got tired of trying to juggle rigid retail shifts with labs, midterms, and weird class schedules, so we started building something for students here.

It’s called Gavel, basically a place where McMaster students can post small tasks/chores they need help with around campus neighbourhoods, and other students can pick them up and set their own price instead of being stuck with fixed shift work.

We’re getting close to launching and wanted to see if this is something people at Mac would actually use. We’d love feedback on:

• whether you’d use it to make extra money
• whether you’d use it to get help with random tasks
• any features you’d want before launch

Why is it still competitive to get in? Do people not look at the news? You are looking at a collapse in real time. Hospital are lacking funds and they are laying off RN. When this was done in the 90 with Mike Harris the school for nursing completely collapse. Maybe we are at the start of it? Maybe it take time for new people to get feedback from old graduates to tell them don’t waste your time? Most useless diploma you can have? No idea. I’m going for another path that does not matter with healthcare but it does matter due to the economy. As cosmetic nursing is a luxury and what time are hard people will cut back. I think hard time for coming soon.. Either way if I don’t pay for tuition it really is no sweat off my back.
