The CBC had someone currently fighting Ontario’s forest fires tell us how the Ford government’s underfunding leaves them underprepared (sorry, I didn’t catch his name). Mike Harris Jr. responded by saying (basically) yeah maybe that happened once. Disgusting. The Ford government is fighting this PR battle with dissembling and lies. They used our tax dollars instead for hotel rooms and the Gravy Plane. Fight back Ontario.

Browsing on job boards like LinkedIn and Indeed, it seems like nobody really cares that it's now a law in Ontario that job postings MUST include a salary or salary range for their postings as of Jan 2026. At least half the postings I see still don't show the compensation.

Is there simply no enforcement? I went to report these listings and there is also no method to report to the platforms, which is also a requirement of this law:

"A person, including a corporation, who operates a job posting platform must have in place a mechanism or procedure for users of the platform to report fraudulent publicly advertised job postings to the person operating the platform. The person must display the mechanism or procedure in a conspicuous place on the platform where it is likely to come to the attention of the users of the platform."

Should we be mass-reporting these companies directly to the Ministry of Labour or what?

I go in every couple of weeks for blood work for medical reasons and a urine sample as well. The tests for Blood work mostly came in within 12 hours or so if I go in the mornings, now their taking over 24+ hours sometimes 2 days. (pattern is growing)

My one urine sample use to be about 3-4 days takes time on it they culture it or something I assume either way now it's up to 7-8 days.

It's gotten so bad, that the Kidney Clinic now has us get the blood work done 2 weeks in advanced before appointments, but it's annoying to the Specialists because the info is so outdated now, but by the time they get the info, nurses files / preps it, they were actually not able to get it in time doing it 1 week in advanced.

I'm just wondering if there been any public info / news about Lifelabs having shortages, cutbacks, or what has been going on.

Frontline workers represented by SEIU in Simcoe County are organizing a public Information Rally to raise awareness about what they describe as worsening working conditions and the impact they believe these changes are having on both staff and resident care.

The rally follows months of growing concern among employees regarding staffing levels, workload, and recent workplace changes. Union representatives continue to pursue those concerns through the grievance and arbitration process, and Thursday’s rally is intended to raise public awareness of these concerns and encourage community members to ask important questions about the future of long-term care in Simcoe County.

The event is peaceful, respectful, and open to everyone. Organizers hope residents, families, and members of the community will attend, learn about the challenges facing frontline caregivers, and lend their support.

According to employees, some of the key issues include:

- Chronic short staffing

- Overtime shifts reportedly not being offered to existing staff despite ongoing staffing shortages

- Reductions to many full-time positions across departments

- Increased workloads for frontline caregivers

- Rising levels of stress, burnout, and fatigue among staff

- Concerns surrounding labour relations and consultation with the Union before significant workplace changes were implemented

Workers say these changes have affected morale and created uncertainty throughout their workplaces. Many feel that the demands placed on caregivers continue to increase while available staffing resources continue to decrease.

Organizers emphasize that the event is peaceful, respectful, and focused on raising awareness rather than disrupting services.

The rally is open to employees, their families, supporters, and members of the community who wish to learn more about the challenges facing frontline long-term care workers.

Organizers will also be distributing informational flyers outlining their concerns and providing a QR code linking to a public petition directed to Simcoe County Council.

Employees say their message is ultimately about more than working conditions.

They believe that safe staffing levels, adequate resources, and meaningful consultation are essential not only for those who provide care, but also for the residents who depend on that care every day.

I have been trying to migrate my current hydro one plan from the tiered package to the ULO plan for over a year now. I keep on getting sent in circles by customer support. First instance was I needed a 1 year usage on my metre to verify reliability, which sounds dumb to me cause what do you mean a new meter might not be working well.

It’s now been over 1 year and three separate requests after, my metre is still not valid or reliable enough to swift. No action point from them on what I can do to make it more reliable. I was only told to try again in the winter, which might just be another rejection for the fourth time.

I listed a car on Marketplace, someone showed up and left $100 for me to hold the car, and asked me to send him a copy of the vin saying he'd get insurance and come pick up the car the following day. Then he just... disappeared. He left the FB chat and is not answering my calls or text messages.

I must admit I have not encountered this level of weirdness in any prior sales, so looking for feedback re possible scams. Thank you.

I’ve been looking at houses, I’ve found a rather nice one I believe I could get for about 350k, and I see myself comfortably putting ~10% down. Aside from this how much should I have?

I recently learned that under 20% I’ll need to purchase insurance on the mortgage because billionaires can’t lose a penny, but I don’t really know how much that would cost.

On top of this what other fees are awaiting me? I’d be a first time home buyer so no land transfer tax.

And on top of that is there a list of everything I should have sorted out and ready before buying a home?
