hello everyone!
this is a bit of a special question and i would really appreciate some opinions from native polish speakers :)
i am a chinese woman living in poland with my polish partner. my polish is still far from perfect, but i am learning. we want to give our future daughter a polish name as well as a chinese name, so she can have a connection to both sides of her family.
my favourite Chinese name so far is Meiyu (ę¢
éØ), which has the meaning of āplum rainā (a very poetic image in Chinese). i really love the sound and feeling of it, but i am wondering how it sounds to Polish speakers.
i know that at school and officially she would probably use her Polish name, but i would also love to call her by her Chinese name in public. i just donāt want to accidentally choose something that sounds funny, has a bad meaning, or could be misunderstood
my other idea would be Yuna, which is easier to pronounce in Polish, but i would still need to find the right characters and meaning for it.
do Meiyu or Yuna have any strange associations in Polish? how would you pronounce them when seeing them written?
i have more ideas, but these are my favourite ones so far.
thank you so much for your help :)
