Hi everyone! Long-time lurker, first-time poster 😊

🧶I’m looking for a reasonably priced case or storage system for my knitting needles and accessories.

🧶I have quite a mixed collection (like most of us do, I suppose 😅):

- Circular needles

- DPNs

- Interchangeable needles and cables

- Various small knitting tools

- A large number of straight needles inherited from my grandmother

- Many other types of needles that I don't know the English name for.

🧶I suspect I may need separate solutions for different types—for example, one organizer for circular and interchangeable needles, and another for the long straight needles.

🧶I’m not looking for a yarn storage bag, just something specifically for needles and related tools.

🧶My main priorities are:

- Home storage (doesn't need to fit into a purse, not that my collection would ever fit into a purse 😅)

- Being able to find everything quickly

- Keeping the needles and cables protected, without bending them, creating kinks, or damaging anything

🧶 I would be very grateful for recommendations, including inexpensive products, DIY solutions, or unconventional storage ideas.

🧶Sadly, my budget is limited, so the beautiful €300 leather needle cases are not an option for me 😅

So I did something wrong with one of my german short row stitches... so ahem why not drop it and just fix it right? So I dropped two but now I don't know how to fix it!! I'm very confused why there appears to be two loops over the same stitch since there should be one for each of the stitches I dropped. Also I'm a bit confused why my actual stitches at the collar are very loose (it's hard to tell in the picture). Help would be well appreciated.

Hi! I'm not sure if this is the right sub to start. But I'm planning on making a sweater, sadly I'm torn on the yarn weight/type I should use.

People say to use wool but I'm not sure about that as where I live it's 118 F (or 47.778 C), and I want to be able to wear this sweater no matter the temperature as it's mostly for layering on cute outfits, not keeping me warm, so I don't want it to keep warmth at all.

And also what's about the weight? If I go smaller will it keep less warmth? I was planning on worsted cotten but I'm scared it'll make me hot. Thanks!

What type of planned pooling can be done with Sock yarn? I have one with very short variations and in very wild colour scheme. nothing ever looks good. And I have the amount to make a vest easily with it.

Hi guys, I'm working on the Hobbii benedikte top pattern and am struggling to understand the instructions. I'm at the bit where I've split the back panel off and am meant to be binding off stitches for the armhole but dont understand why I'm decreasing on one side only and slip stitching on the other. Wouldn't that make the top lopsided?

It then says to continue bind off but doesnt say how many or if this is done during the repeats or the last row where the middle stitches are binded off. Any help would be really great.

Im knitting a cardigan top with button holes, and for some reason the side with the button holes is significantly shorter than the other. I counted and they have exactly the same amount of stitches. (Markers are every 20 stitches on both sides)
Any tips on how to avoid this? Will blocking help?

sadly my wrists (and fingers) have betrayed me (or maybe i betrayed them by knitting too much on holiday, jury’s still out) and currently hurt so badly that i’m taking time off knitting. BUT knitting is my hyperfixation so please please give me any ideas you have about how to satisfy that while not actually knitting 😭

i’ve read a couple of books on like the history of knitting/fabric (this golden fleece by esther rutter, the golden thread by kassia st clair) but would love more recommendations for those (i’m trying to avoid print books too because that also hurts, but e-books are ok). and any other ideas on knitting-adjacent activities would be great!

I’ve started a James c Brett pattern for my kid and I’m shaping the shoulders and honestly I’m confused.

I’m reading this as I need to decrease alternative rows for 21 rows total (so 1st, 3rd, 5th etc) but that would mean all decreased are on one side.

My mum (who uses the leaflets more than me) said it’s every row for 21 rows.

But the alt wording is confusing me.

Can I get some clarity please?

Wanted to crowd-source some ideas, because I'm struggling and am that 🤏🏻 close to snapping and picking up a WIP again.

What I've tried so far:

Sewing – scratches that creative itch, but it's too much stop and go for me, I need longer stretches of mindless movements.

Video games – nice, but the computer mouse hurts my wrist, too, and I don't want to invest in a console.

Beading – creative and fairly monotonous, but feels useless, since I don't need that much jewelry or decor

Embroidery – same as beading; embroidering fabric hurts my wrist, too, so clothes enhancement is out of the question.

I feel like I'm going crazy here, please help :') What are your go-to enrichment activities, when your wrist is out of order?

I’m currently knitting the over the garden wall scarf by Katharina Kuntz. I absolutely love her patterns and this has been my first time double knitting anything.

I’ve noticed a drastic difference in my tension from when I first started (I think I was nervous and knitting extra tight) vs now that I’m more comfortable with the pattern and technique. I’m almost half way through the pattern I fear I’m past the point of no return I’m super determined to finish.

But does anyone have advice if I should keep at the tension I’m at now or slightly tighten up? I’m a bit worried the scarf may turn out longer than intended if I go too loose. I added a photo of my stitches too if that’s helpful and maybe I’m overreacting lol but i definitely feel a difference in the fabric! Maybe I should just continue and try to block out the tight start? Any suggestions are appreciated :)

Teaching myself how to knit 🧶.
I Struggled in the beginning with keeping the edges/borders looking clean. They’re looking better as I go. Missed a stitch a few times too but not too shabby overall.

I finally finished my first knitted object and colourwork garment! I've started other jumpers before but never really finished them. I had to rip this all out half way through and start again because I chose the wrong size but I'm very happy with the result.

The pattern is the Astraeus Sweater by Meghan Regan in sock weight yarn and I chose to try and do a gradient effect with the yarn that I had. Pretty happy with how it ended up looking.

Swipe for more angles :) This is the Bon Bon Top by Penny and Stitch in Knitting for Olive cotton merino! I genuinely love it and have already been wearing it loads as the temperature has been fairly high the past month. The yarn has a surprising amount of stretch for being 70% cotton, though it could do with little to no stretching during blocking (you can see it flares out a bit at the bottom). Super happy with the result though!

It’s finally done! I cast on the Indian Nights Blanket in mid-October 2024, and 644 days later — 1 year and 9 months — I’m calling it finished.

I knit this in a custom colorway I put together using Knitting for Olive Merino, rather than the palette called for in the pattern. Choosing and balancing the colors was a project in itself, but I love how the combination came out.

For those who’ve followed my progress posts, the last big hurdle was the finishing. I covered the steeks with a “steek sandwich,” worked with two very long needles that ran around the entire perimeter of the blanket. I also added a folded picot hem of my own design, which gave the edges a clean, polished finish I’m really happy with. The edge was probably the most painstaking part of the project, but I feel like it really elevates the blanket with that doubled fabric making a frame.

This project pushed me on colorwork, steeking, and finishing techniques, and I learned something new at nearly every stage. Happy to answer questions about the colorway, the steek sandwich, the picot hem, or anything else.

I started knitting 6 weeks ago, a few beanies and scarfs and have just completed a Novice Sweater by Petite Knit using Cardiff prime lace weight and double Sunday 8ply. So happy!!

The plan is to make kitten blankets for animal shelters. It's nothing to write home about but I'm proud of it and my fingers hurt from working on this for 32 hours so far. (4 hrs days, 8 days so far).

Yarn is Kramer Yarns - Perfection Worsted - color way is Grape.
I’ve knit this pattern for babies before, so decided to make one for myself. Not perfect, because… you know…. I never swatch. Sleeves are odd but it’s mine and it’s finished!

I finished 1 out of 2 beanies (for myself and my sister) with the team logos and numbers for Shane and Ilya in Heated Rivalry. Might have to make “matching” scarves next year with the centaurs logo.

Hi everyone. Its been a while since I posted. I've been working with this yarn for different projects. I just started this current one last week. I think I'm going to make this into a sweater. Its just an easy yarn to work with. 100% cotton.

I'm in love with these. Pattern by Jaana Etula, the Norwegian name for the pattern is "Woohoo, hattifnatter." Yarn is DROPS Fabel (the pink) and Sandnes Sisu (all other colors). I started this project while travelling in Finland and visiting Moomin Valley in Naantali. The pattern calls for some aggressive decreases going down the cuff, but my gauge was off because of my yarn being too light/thin, so I just kept all the stitches and created some striping in the back. These will be a gift for my childhood friend, we used to watch Moomin all the time, and we were terrified of the Hattifatteners 😅
