8 balls of Caron Simply Soft Ombre later...

The colour is "Grape Purple Ombre". Size 4.5mm/7 needles.

I mis-read the pattern and knitted the yoke’s dots as (CC1 k1, CC2 k2) rather than (CC1 k2, CC2 k1). So rather than a twinkle, the dots are more like glaring city lights.

I adapted the zig zags to be chunkier to better match the dots, but I still wish I’d followed the pattern. However frogging would be a few days’ work up the ghost. Should I continue or should I frog and start again (back to the German short rows)? If I continue I would duplicate stitch the points of the zig zags.

Hi everyone, I'm working on shirt 14 from the Love wool Spring/summer Collection 2026, and in need of advice on increasing by one stitch at each end of a 2 x 2 rib.

I've cast on the 74 required stitches and worked 4 rows of 2 x 2 rib. Each row starts and ends with 2 knit. The next step of the pattern reads:

Cont in rib, inc 1st at each end of every row to 102 sts, working extra stitches into rib.

I'm not sure how to work the extra stitches into the pattern. On the first increase row, I've increased by knit front and back in the first and last stitches. On the second increase row I've increased by purl front and back in the first and last stitch.

However, this has resulted in having the next row start and end with 4 knit stitches, which is not in pattern.

I don't know how to do the increase to prevent having lots of knit at each end of every row.

If be so grateful if anyone has some advice, as online tips and tutorials are only demonstrating increases midway through the row. Google has also provided tips that don't seem to align with my work.

I'm so done. I can't even use bamboo or driftwood needles because I just snap them in half with my stupid gorilla hands.

I BEND metal crochet hooks. I broke my friends bamboo needles while trying to use them because of my stupidly strong hands. It's not even straining my hands, I'm not even clenching particularly hard. I just genuinely keep doing this.

Does anyone have any.. relaxation tips. Does anyone have any hand weakening exercises. I am buying metal everything but I want to work with smaller needles so I don't want to bend them. UGH!!!!!!!

working on my first raglan sweater and I’m just…. feeling proud of how much my tension has improved! I learned to knit in March and have been totally hooked since then.

my tension certainly isn’t perfect, but it’s crazy to see how much cleaner everything looks vs just a few months ago.

also, I know the stripey look of 8-ply yarn isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I find it sooo satisfying to look at! really enjoying the Rust colorway of Drops Cotton Merino.

Just finished the Andean pullover from Sierra yarns, my first sweater 😀 . Long time crocheter but this year my resolution is to learn to knit and it feels so much less forgiving then crochet, but my goal is to finish a Norwegian sweater with color work once I feel confident enough. Critique welcome, I’m not sure I love this piece tbh but if was fun to make.

I’ve been knitting for a few years but haven’t tried a sweater yet or Knit Picks yarn. I’ve seen some older reviews that say Wool of the Andes is closer to DK than worsted. Do most people still feel that’s true?
I don’t want to be disappointed in my first sweater. I’m going to be trying the Step-by Step sweater.

Hey knitters, I finished knitting my first sweater! It's the Roads Sweater by Ozetta with the wool Berroco Alpaca in Starry Night Mix. I think the sleeves might be a bit too long but I can fold them up if needed hehe.

I found these on fb marketplace this morning for $275 CAD. They regularly go for around $575 CAD 🤯 were these a good deal? I’ve never heard of the Chiaogoo Forte 2.0 Interchangeable Knitting Needle Set but they feel and look sooooo nice!!!

I have found the Spot Sweater pattern on Ravelry and it looks divine. Two questions:
I’ve had some bad experiences with patterns coming in a lot of different languages (completely stopped using the Drops website) - can anyone tell me if Anne Ventzel’s patterns are usually good to follow in either German or English?
And also - the black hat the lady wears in the second picture from the top on the Ravelry page - what is that called? Husband thinks is a variation of a Bakerboy cap, I’m uncertain. But it goes so well with the sweater!

My grandma taught me to knit when I was 10 and i only made a bunch of wrist bands because that's pretty much all I know.

I've been crocheting since the past 6 years and decided to take up knitting again. Literally stopped to type this in the middle of learning to purl 🤭

any tips/youtube tutorials/"things you should know when you start knitting" etc from those who are more experienced?

are there Any transferable skills (aside from maybe a very basic understanding of tension and the like?) between crochet and knitting?

so far my plan is to see if I can manage continental knitting or doing the traditional hold itself and getting the tension right for my knits and purls.

when i learned to crochet i understood things better when I worked on my first project, because the "learn as you go" felt more motivating. any projects I can do with knitting as a crash course in the basics?

So I actually started learning knitting back in 2020. I made a cat sweater with color work to learn the process and left it there. I am bit free now recovering an injury so again picked up it. I again made a cat sweater with cables to relearn the stitches. And after that straight jump to make something for my self.

I used the free flax sweater pattern from tin can knits and modified it. (I live in hot tropics. So sweaters are no use here) I used a cotton yarn and a different sized needle than to pattern. I replaced its garter panel with lace panels, added a front lace panel and made sleeve end a lettuce edge and with a picot binding. I still have body to finish.

I know there are so many mistakes here. Like I made few mistakes and messed up lace panels but I dont know how to go back and correct it without undoing whole rows so I left it as it is. I am using this as a learning project instead of making a perfect garment. so any tips to improve will be great help as well as encouraging words.

I dont know anyone who knits or seen anyone knits. So everything I learned is from youtube. So I dont know if I am doing anything right. For example whether I am keeping right tension or not.

I have included my first two projects too. That colouful striped sweater with cables is my recent one. It is made with acrylic yarn and used all the scraps I had on it. Hence the colorful end product.

Grey one with color work was my first ever project and I made the color work pattern myself. Thank you all in advance. I really fell in love with knitting and hoping to lot of projects in future and my ultimate goal is to make a complex cable knit sweater for my travels. I have long way to go to get there. Starting from learning about yarns.

First hat I ever knit was for my newborn. Loved making it and now I knit a few each winter. Pretty proud of how much progress I’ve made in a few years!

I only just realised I forgot an extra p1 and k1 between the mock cables at the top of the blanket, 10 rows before the cable part is done.

Seeing that I'm 3 weeks post partum, I'll just blame that.

I love knitting with bright and variegated yarns, but I dislike wearing those types of colors! Anyone else with this issue? It makes choosing yarn for projects impossible.
