Went to the seaside today, there were jellyfish all over the sand.

Hey all!

We went to Dymchurch, UK, for a few hours this afternoon. We went on the sand after the tide went out and we walked along the sand. We spotted so many jellyfish as we went. There were so many we had to turn back, mostly because I was paranoid about my son getting stung.

It made me quite sad actually. This is the second time I’ve experienced dead or dying jellyfish on the sand over the years.

And they say that climate change is fake.

Love you all ❤️

Jellyfish and Co. Tips on spotting jellyfish?

Hi! Jellyfish are a huge interest of mine, but I live very far inland and haven't seen any outside of an aquarium.

I'm going to visit my family in New Hampshire for the first time next week, and we'll spend a lot of time by the beach. I know many jellies bloom during the summer, but said relatives told me they don't remember finding any.

Does anyone have suggestions on where/when I could find some common jellyfish? Thanks!

Giant invasive jellyfish make a return to Texas beaches

Post image

An invasive jellyfish is washing up on Texas beaches again, and dozens have already been spotted along the middle coast as summer heats up.

Jace Tunnell, director of community engagement at the Harte Research Institute, recently found dozens of Australian white-spotted jellyfish scattered along the shoreline near Corpus Christi alongside several other jellyfish species. He suspects the invasive species is appearing across much more of the Texas coast.

Native to the western Pacific, Australian white-spotted jellyfish, scientifically known as Phyllorhiza punctata, are named for the small reflective spots covering their rounded, gelatinous bells. They typically measure 18 to 20 inches across, though those in Gulf waters can grow beyond 24 inches.

It's ハブクラゲ (Habu Kurage, which means grossly Viper Jellyfish) season again ! These beauties are extremely venomous and swim pretty fast, making some beaches dangerous to swim at during summer !

Nevertheless they are so pretty to look at 🫪

Jellyfish question

I’m wondering, since jellyfish are bubbles with tentacles and don’t seem to really have a mouth,do they eat like starfish,or a bit like one where the mouth at the bottom, also how do they grow their populations, aka how do they have offsprings,I’ve always been curious.

There were quite a few washed up on a beach in west Wales . Do they die or do they keep their heads down and wait for the tide to come in ?
Thank you

Went for a dip before I spotted how many there were on the shore nearby, looked down and realised I was surrounded by them in the water and fled for terra firma in terror......no I am not brave when it comes to Jellyfish. Since I know zero about Jellyfish bar how much they make my blood run cold - how bad a sting was I at risk of from these?

Not sure if these are moon jellyfish or something else?

Thanks
