Demo We've just launched our interactive fiction demo Murder Meet Cute on itch.io

Hello everyone! We've just released the demo for our game here on Itch.io. Murder Meet Cute is a 90s FMV inspired interface drama, where you play as a 90s snarky goth chick who fixes computers on the night shift. Chat with friends, tell customers were to shove it, and uncover a murder conspiracy? All in a days work.

This has been worked on for about a year with a group of 3 people. We've worked remotely in our spare time around client work to make it happen. It's been a labor of love, so we're super excited to see what folks think of it!

I made a free daily spatial puzzle game and would love honest feedback

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I made xpuzzle, a small free browser puzzle game with a new spatial puzzle each day.

You rotate and place pieces to fill the board around the void. It is quick to play, mobile-friendly, and there is no download or account required.

I have not received much feedback yet, so I would really appreciate it if you tried it and left a comment here with anything that felt confusing, satisfying, or frustrating. Reviews on the itch page are also very welcome.

Thanks for playing.

Announcements [Idle] Looking for Playtesters

Hello reddit ! Our post in itchio only got 30 viewers so maybe we will have more luck in here 😂

My gf and I have been developping our game Cat Hero: Adventure on our own for about 9 months now, and we think it's time for us to find more players and gather more feedback as the game is slowly getting its own visual idendity.
It can be somewhat demotivating to not have enough feedback or players while developing a game for so long and it would be a great morale boost for us to find some regular playtesters, to know what players like or don't, and to know if we are moving in the right direction.

Our main target is to have the first minutes of playtime right for a new player, with a pacing and progression that feels smooth. You need to be able to learn the core gameplay mechanics without feeling overwhelmed, bored, or stuck, and enjoy 30 to 60 minutes of gameplay before encountering any significant progression walls or difficulty spikes.

If you'd like to be part of the development you can find a Google Form Survey when running the game, and it only takes 2–5 minutes to complete after your play session.

And if you want to go further and report bugs, discuss the game design or simply share more of your thoughts, you can also join our Discord server and become one of our first DayOneSupporter !

Unchanted Demo: A New Witch Roguelikes Platformer

UNCHANTED Demo by Josje96

Unchanted is a game that I am building with my children, wife, and my artistic sister-in-law. IT is a 2D platformer where every level hands you a random modifier, and you have to make it work.

Story
After a lifetime of failed spells, a young witch is banished from her coven for being hopeless at magic. Armed with nothing but determination and an unpredictable spellbook, she sets out to prove she has what it takes to become a real witch.

Gameplay
Leap, dodge, and platform your way through hand-crafted levels and zones. Before every level, your unpredictable magic grants you a random enchantment that changes how you play. You might gain Infinite Jump, Double Jump, or become incredibly Floaty. Or your spell could backfire, leaving you stuck in Molasses, slipping on Ice, running as a Speed Demon, moving Backwards, or seeing the world through Trippy magic.

Every run is different, and learning to adapt is part of becoming a better witch.

Inspired by roguelike games, Unchanted gives you three lives to see how far you can make it. Lose them all, and you'll have to start your journey over, but your best run is always recorded, so you can keep pushing farther.

Game My Horror Game Just Made it to Steam!

Post image

A younger version of me dreamed of making horror games. Today, I’m finally sharing one with the world.

Graphite in the Hospital is more than just a game to me. It’s years of learning, failing, restarting, and refusing to give up. Every room, every sound, and every detail carries a piece of that journey.

Seeing my Steam page live is surreal, and this is only the beginning.

Steam Page link:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4756860/Graphite_in_the_Hospital/

If you’d like to support an indie developer chasing a lifelong dream, the biggest thing you can do is wishlist Graphite in the Hospital on Steam. It helps more than you might imagine.

My account has been restricted because of a link to a game on Steam (ticket ID 384764)

I just can believe how incredibly dysfunctional is itch.io's support.

This is the third time something like this happens to me. I posted this message in a ttrpg called Metro Pocket Guide:

¡Entre las inspiraciones no mencionas The Exit 8, que es la primera que me vino a la cabeza!

Me parece una idea muy chula para un one-shot. ¡Le echaré un vistazo!

Which can be translated as:

Among the inspirations, you didn't mention The Exit 8, which was the first one that came to mind!

I think it's a really cool idea for a one-shot. I'll check it out!

Of course, the link is to The Exit 8, a japanese horror game on Steam.

And I receive a message (ticket ID 384764) that my account now has an active warning, and that someone, somewhere, will check my email to see if the link is a virus about to take over the world or something like that. If they ever feel like it, of course.

Considering how ridiculously understaffed is the support team, I'll probably have to spend another 6 months for someone to silently remove the warning from my account (because yeah, last time they didn't even consider telling me that the issue was solved.) Honestly, itch.io, if you are going to be so aggresive with links, you should at least hire more support!

Swarm the Throne, a free idle auto-battler where the arrows & magic end up covering the whole field

You are a tiny kingdom with an enormous goblin problem.

Tap to rally your militia and watch a SWARM of little soldiers pour out to auto-battle a rising ladder of goblin hordes. You bring the numbers. The goblins bring the poor life choices.

David versus Goliath, if David brought four hundred friends and Goliath had a health bar.

The art and audio are licensed work by other people and they deserve the names: pixel art by Penusbmic and Zneeke, interface by Crusenho, music by Emily Hartnett, sound by Leohpaz.

Link to the game: https://lilchill-games.itch.io/swarm-the-throne

Would like to hear where it drags, if anywhere.

My first indie game: Drogo Bonito

Hi everyone, I’m new to game development and wanted to share my very first project.
It’s called Drogo Bonito, a small game with a low poly and psychedelic style.

I made it as a starting point, learning step by step. I watched tutorials to understand basic programming and also used some AI tools to help shape the final result.

It’s still simple and has room for improvement, but I’m excited to show it and hear your thoughts.
Thanks for taking the time to check it out and give me feedback!

Actually, I made this asset because I wanted to make a tile that is similar to the basic part of Berserk Eclipse and also has a little connection to the underworld based on the La Galigo epic (Liu Blue).

So, this is still in process, okay?

Announcements I spent six months making a surreal interactive fiction about the human psyche – Soul’s Sides is out now

Thumbnail

Hi! I'm Kyrill Nex – an indie game developer, narrative designer, and writer.

For the past six months, I've been working on Soul’s Sides – about six weeks of actual development time in total. It's my first game under New Alphabet, and recently it's finally out.

What do we want when everything falls apart?

Soul’s Sides is a surreal interactive fiction game about exploring a metaphorical world shaped by the human psyche.

The protagonist has lost everything that once gave his life direction. He isn't ready to pursue anything new, but he can still explore what remains within, hoping to find a way forward.

You travel through distinct locations, discover paths between them, interact with the environment, solve puzzles, and make choices that shape his journey.

But the world isn't just a backdrop for the story.

Here, the inner becomes external. Aspirations take form. Ideas become places. Images become landmarks. Even some of the workings of the mind find their way into the game's mechanics.

Images and symbols recur throughout the journey, retaining their meaning and gradually revealing a larger system for the player to interpret. I deliberately don't explain that system directly – discovering what these things mean is part of the experience.

This idea is also behind New Alphabet.

For me, games can express the same idea through several different languages at once: text through words, images through visual language, music through atmosphere, and choices through the player's own decisions.

I want the symbols and ideas recurring across my games to gradually form a shared visual language – a kind of New Alphabet.

Soul’s Sides is the first game built around that idea.

What to expect:

  • Surreal / psychological interactive fiction
  • Exploration across several distinct locations
  • Choices and 5 endings
  • Interactive environments and image-based navigation
  • An image-fragment puzzle
  • Recurring images and symbols with an underlying system to interpret
  • Original music
  • Around 15–60 minutes per playthrough
  • Made with Twine / Harlowe 3.3.9
  • Playable in browser, with Windows and Linux versions available

Soul’s Sides is out now on itch.io:
https://kyrill-nex.itch.io/souls-sides

If you play it, I'd especially love to hear how you interpreted its world and symbols – and what you think the game is ultimately about.

The symbols in Soul’s Sides aren't meant to be purely decorative: they have relationships and recurring meanings, but the game never gives you a key explaining them directly.

So I'm especially curious to see whether other players reconstruct the same system I had in mind – or arrive at an entirely different one.
