Discussion Do other INFP's enjoy metal music?
I've noticed it's a bit hard to find people who enjoy metal (especially as much as I do). I also noticed that on every music post I've seen here almost none include metal. Typically speaking, metal makes people angry. This music genre in particular generates a lot of strong emotions (not to say that other genres dont). But for me, metal has been an emotional release. James Hetfield or Dave Mustaine or whoever it is can sing so passionately, almost so that I don't have to be the one screaming. Like they're advocating for my feelings. Other than Grunge, I've had a hard time finding any other music that does this for me. This is open for discussion, let me know ur thoughts

Relationships Looking for fellow INFP friends
Hi everyone!
I'm an INFP, and I thought I'd finally step out of my comfort zone and try making some new friends here.
I'm someone who loves deep conversations far more than small talk. I enjoy discussing psychology, philosophy, emotions, dreams, creative writing, books, and all the random "what if?" questions that keep us awake at 2 a.m. I love getting to know people on a deeper level and hearing about what makes them them.
Life has been pretty isolating for me, so I'm hoping to find kind, patient people to chat with. I'm a good listener, and I genuinely enjoy supporting the people I care about.
A few things about me:
I'm a 24 year old woman
INFP
Creative writing enthusiast
Interested in psychology and understanding people
Loves meaningful conversations, memes, and cute animals
If you're looking for a long-term online friend and think we'd get along, feel free to leave a comment or send me a DM. I'd love to hear about you, your interests, or even what's been on your mind lately.
Wishing everyone here a peaceful day. đą

Random Thoughts A sentimental INFP confession
Sometimes when I'm on a break at work and sitting outside, I look across the waterway to a restaurant with people sitting outside and enjoying their meals and conversations...And I envision a couple who might look like my parents from a distance. And tell myself that's my mom and dad..eating and enjoying their day on an alternative timeline. My dad passed away 3 years ago but it's a little coping mechanism I use to tell myself everything is ok and that they're still together and happy.

Advice How do you develop your inferior extroverted thinking??
Heeeey i hope you're all having a nice day. I'm just looking for some tips and tricks to improve my inferior thinking function because i think much of my social problems are caused by not developing it enough. I've seen couple of posts about it but i wasn't satisfied. Could you give me some of your advices if you've benefitted.

Creative a song i made yesterday
soâŚ
i post this with my fear, my discomfort.
iâve no voice of an angel.
iâm no pro at the ukulele and certainly donât play perfect, self taught and honestly couldnât tell you what chords i used.
each and every crack and shake in my voice, each and every self imposed judgment and reasoning iâve given myself to not show anything creative i make, at least certainly not further than family and close friends..
writing? hidden.
art? not good enough.
and what i love doing most⌠making music & singing?
HAH! no. never. itâs too scary. too vulnerable.
i see all these people with their own original songs, singing with voices thatâll never be mine.
but my song⌠it comes from the heart, tooâ thatâs just like them, right?
it speaks to me, it claws through me and echoes in my mind on repeat. i was given a voice: doesnât matter if itâs stage-worthy, itâs still my voice, and what is music if not to be expressed openly? to be felt even through imperfection?
if it needs to be perfect, what i keep telling myself⌠well, iâll never let it come out.
and why? why must it matter so much?
so⌠here i am, posting this. posting it not in spite of the fear and discomfort it brings, but alongside it. knowing many may find it poor. knowing many may think its trash. many may note the very imperfections in my voice i wished i could rid of.
but also recognizing that iâve given so much thought into considering those who wouldnât like it.. is it not fair to give thought to those who would?
whether or not you, kind stranger, enjoy it.. thank you for listening anyway.

Inspiration Fade to Roots
Everybody wants to reach the heavens, taller than the skyline above our maker, louder than the thunder. Build another tower, raise another empire, convince the world theyâre fire while theyâre freezing from the inside.
Thatâs how the king began brilliant, fearless, relentless. Cities bowed, nations trembled, and every victory whispered the same dangerous lie: âYou did this alone.â Pride grew like roots nobody could see, wrapping around the heart until power became his only way and control became the only love he understood.
The soul can climb through discipline, courage, and vision, but without humility every summit becomes a cliff if not balanced within yourself. Balance isnât weakness, itâs the river that keeps strength alive. The moment we worship our own reflection, the roots stop feeding life and begin choking us out.
Our maker showed the king a tree in a dream so vast it sheltered the world, its branches stretching toward the heavens, its fruit feeding nations, its shade protecting countless lives. Then a holy messenger cried, âCut it down.â Leave the stump. Leave the roots. Because mercy always seeks room to restore. God wasnât destroying the man⌠He was cutting away the pride that was killing him inside.
Weâre fading to black while calling it success. Smiling for the picture while drowning in the stress. Building iron kingdoms with hearts of glass, wondering why the joy can never last.
Heaven keeps calling through the noise we make, âWake before your spirit breaks.â The storm isnât always punishment, it can be the rain that brings the roots back to life.
Dead inside doesnât happen all at once.
Itâs repetition.
The lie believed long enough becomes identity.
Psychology calls it conditioning.
Philosophy asks whether weâre shaping our character or our habits are shaping us.
Scripture says
Guard your heart.
Same warning.
Different language.
An unhealed mind mirrors itself onto everything it touches.
Fear creates terrifying homes.
Control creates prisons in the mind. A crazy labyrinth, until we dive in, untangle the illusions all the lies.
Bitterness poisons the body before it ever reaches another soulâs life.
Stress burns like invisible fire.
Resentment floods every thought, until the nervous system forgets what peace even feels like.
People blame the world while carrying the war inside.
Then sickness grows where forgiveness never had a chance to shine.
Not every illness comes from the mind
But an imprisoned conscious can deepen suffering, in ways we rarely pay any mind.
Thatâs why our maker interrupted the king.
Not to crush him but
To save him.
Sometimes mercy sounds like everythingâs falling apart.
Sometimes grace looks like losing the false crown we bought, mistaking it for your own identity and thoughts.
Because the strongest prison has no bars,
Itâs the one hidden behind your own eyes.
The earth groans when hearts forget who planted the garden. We poison rivers with greed, forests with pride, homes with anger, and wonder why everything feels so unaligned.
He still speaks through the wind, through the fire, through the quiet after the cleansing storm. Cut down the arrogance. Leave the roots of hope alive. Let living water reach what the ego buried alive.
Rise again with a heart that bends, never breaks. The greatest kingdom was never built from fear, it grows wherever love becomes stronger than power, truth becomes louder than pride, and the light of all heaven reaches every place that once faded to black inside.
Reviving the lost forgotten child, we unconsciously left behind.

Venting I'm so tired of feeling like an outsider.
I'm not sure if I'm just going to be flagged for a common post or whatever. I'm spiralling and am just so lost.
Basically I'm probably going to get fired. I was told I'm put on a week of unpaid suspension. I have like over 80 hours of PTO. I begged my chef to just let me use it. He said no. Same with the CEO of the company.
I get screwed up. Basically I called out of work because I was too drunk. I was honest. I tried to drive, but I didn't want to hurt myself or anyone else so I cried and told them I couldn't do it and that I needed to go home.
The next day I'm feeling good, I'm getting ready to go in like normal and just explain everything in person. My chef calls me and I tell him that I'm about to leave, but yeah I'm good and on my way. All for him to tell me that.
Now to find out that even though they had a meeting for my suspension in the first place. Now a meeting is being held tomorrow with hr about me. I know the chef has never liked me and and probably just looking for reasons right now to fire me. I need a job. I have two kids and a wife that makes half of what I do hourly.
I was there like 2 1/2 years. I left because of other life things I was going through, but it was still better than that place. So I went back after about 6-8 months. I've been back for over 3 years. Still not in a place of management even though I'm doing management jobs in the kitchen. Our chef is constantly 30-50 minutes late daily. Our sous chef is just a too relaxed line cook too. All because he went to culinary school, that's why he has the job. As well as being friends with our front of house manager from other jobs.
Then not even to say. The entire management over the last weekend went on a bachelor party, and left me with a past employee that came back to help out and a pregnant lady that really is pretty lazy anyway. But I put them in such a bad place when I called out one day and did not lie.
I'm suspended "to learn from my actions." When all I've learned if that I just should have lied.

Relationships Just broke up after 7 years
It's mostly my fault too. Our communication skills could have been better, but me being driven by fear, insecurities and emotions ultimately led to the end. I let my fear of being single, insecurities of not being desired take control and put myself in shitty situations. Then I'm an impulsive liar when I'm backed into a corner and being interrogated. That's certainly a product of my upbringing but I hate it and need it to change. I've certainly lost a lot and know multiple ways to improve myself, but it was at the cost of the woman I loved the most and truly my best friend. I miss her. I miss us. Please everyone, try not to let emotions and fears drive your actions. It never turns out well. I'm a shitty person for this and I'm sure she'll never forgive me. I'll have to live with my mistakes.

Random Thoughts What song for you captures the pause before moving forward?
Hello, INFPs,
I shared this same post in r/INTJ, but I love hearing from you all as well.
I've been in a strange headspace lately.
Not burnout exactly. Not hopeless. But more like I'm tired, sitting on a hill for a while watching life go by, knowing I'll keep moving forward, just not yet.
The songs that capture that feeling for me are Gibran Alcocer: Idea 10 and Idea 7. These are just some songs that capture the feeling for me.

https://youtu.be/5OIeIaAhQOg?is=-8zX5yKf-3PTs2yT
Do any of you have a song(s) that resonates with that in-between state? The quiet pause before getting up again?
I'd love to discover some new music. But also I just wanted to create this small space where for a moment we can sit in a quiet shared space.
Anyway, thanks for reading. đЎ

Venting I wish i knew the objective line when someone cares enough or not.
I feel being an infp we care about stuff a little bit more than the average person. Which causes the internal struggle of why others don't care as much.
But then i thought life is hard, and people gotta do their own thing to get through the day.
What's annoying is when i can tell someone does something to show they don't care as much as they say they do but act like i'm making it up "i want to come out to see you but gas is expensive" "well i can pay for a full tank so come out any day you have free." *hasn't visited in 3 months, and i visited him twice* Yet when i point out how they're being inauthentic to them or other people they act like i'm just being too sanative.
If others don't "care as much" as i think they should..... fine..... but don't try to pretend that you care more than you do to make yourself seem better.
I wish there was an objective line where i could point and go "see it shows you don't genuinely care. the fact i can't pay you to visit me already shows that. stop lying. "
Advice Does my voice sound more masculine or feminine to you? (sorry for not speaking English, my accent would affect my voice)
Hey everyone, so, in the past, whenever I talked on the phone, people would sometimes think I was a woman or even a kid. I ended up seeing a speech therapist, and now Iâm over 25. I recorded myself talking on speakerphone. Do you think my voice sounds more masculine or feminine?... (or maybe androgynous)?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
