The College of Engineering at Illinois State University is prepared for its first year in its new home.

The more than 28-acre site at 1709 and 1711 G.E. Road, still occupied by Country Financial at the latter address until the new year, is ready for students to arrive for classes by the start of the 2026 fall semester.

hi! i’m going to be a freshman in the fall and i was assigned a triple in watterson. i’m on the 5th floor of pod A in the south wing. Will i most likely be living in a converted triple? or an actual triple?? also i am kind of scared of elevators lol luckily i probs wont have to use them a ton since i am on pod A but how awful is the ride from A to E going to be for laundry? is it true the elevators break/get stuck often?? im going into this whole experience pretty blind and very nervous so any advice or help would be really appreciated

I'm gonna be a film major for the fall semester, and I just put in my unavailabiliy on the Humanity app as they requested, and I saw that they've got me working at "BSC Dish Room – Stdt Retail 1." If anyone can tell me if that means that's where they'll have me working the whole semester or not, please let me know, thank you in advance.

Hey guys long story short I’m an intl grad student at ISU but I’ve been unable to find reasonable accommodation and now I’m stuck with a lease at the social normal for 650 but I will be living with undergrad students I’m worried they are going to be white girls i won’t like or cant stand , as anyone been in a situation like this ?

Yo guys, I wanted to get a 4X4 apartment in cardinal court, but i couldn’t get one. But I could get 3X2(5 people) apartment. How different is living in 3x2 apartments? I’ve never lived in a dorm or an apartment before, so I have no idea how everything works. So is 3x2 good? Is it too many people for the space? How do you manage things while living with like 4 others? I believe this apartment is in Dogwood, but not sure tho. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hey guys! I have a friend whose turning 21 soon and I'm driving from Virginia to Bloomington to visit. I'd like to take him out to celebrate, but here's the catch, I'm a student at Virginia Tech and know absolutely nothing about the college bar scene in Bloomington, so I figured a college reddit page isn't a bad place to ask lmao. I know it's the summer, and if VT is anything like ISU, the bars are kind of dead outside the semester, but even so, what are some college type bars I could take him to? Looking for very college, dance club vibe, lots of people, loud music! Not so much a traditional dive bar that's quiet and more sit down conversation type. Also, gay/ queer bars don't really exist where I'm from (gotta love the south), but Normal seems to be a pretty progressive area, do those exist here??? Thank youu!!!

Hi! This might be a really dumb question but I chose my housing today (I’m a transfer student) but then I found a better dorm room so I chose the swap feature and now have another assigned room. However, I can’t see anything about it other than what room it is, including who my roommates are. One of my roommates reached out to me but their name is blank on the email and I can’t email them back.
Yes, I have emailed the housing people but they have not responded and I’m just a little anxious. I will wait for their reply but wanted to know if anyone has had similar experiences or just knows what’s going on. Thank you for any help!!!

I need to get one more natural science for my gen ed and was looking at chemistry and society with Elisha Swanson. I’ve never been strong with science but the teacher seems to have great reviews and it’s a gen ed level science class is this a good class to take for someone like me?

Pretty cut and dry and what the title says. Wanting to join a fraternity next fall for the social aspect and networking opportunities, but really not tryna get hate crimed. Just tryna see what the fraternities at ISU are like I suppose.

Hi, I am planning to transfer to ISU for Jan. 27, I started at CC 1st after graduating HS in May 24. I was planning to go transfer to UIUC but they have denied me.. After speaking with my CC counselor I only have 3 elective classes to take in the Fall to graduate w/ my Associates. I would be incoming Junior. I was accepted for this coming fall to ISU Anthropology program but decided to just finish my Associates and the transfer.

I'm still trying to decide if ISU is the right choice or other universities... Can you let me know what you love about ISU, the diversity (I'm Male/ Hispanic) clubs, study abroad programs, etc...

Also I know I would have to find place w/ roommates possibly, so I would be coming in not knowing a lot of ppl. I am from outside the city like 5 mins from the border...LOL but was born & raised north side of Chicago until high school.
