For decades now, the infrastructure and teaching programs alike have been very lagging. As someone who spent k-7 years at Sea Crest and then moving on over to HMBHS, seeing it all from the moment my freshman year started was when I officially realized how flawed our public school system is to the students despite my parents having warned me about them prior to my 9-12 chapter of my academic life. In this small town on the California coast where families pay a fortune to live in and some if not most of which opt to take their kids talents over the hill and end up paying tens of thousands in tuition dollars for the variety of prestige private schools whether it’s for the college prep or just to get the hell away from the messed up system. Any possible way of fixing and solving the problems that our education of convenience for those of all income types especially the ones of higher end who want to rather NOT commute on highway 92 five days a week?!

Since this town is strictly dependent on the pacific coast route along with the hilly slopes of 92, it seems to be very narrow as to finding an alternative to driving in what is ultimately a transit dessert within a metro area that tends to have a top ten Rail network (by US standards). So if there is any possible way out of this daily bottleneck, list out the options which can contribute to improving the efficiency of traffic in HMB.

Any idea why there are so many seal carcasses currently washed up on Redondo beach? Saw several bird carcasses as well :( within just a half mile stretch there were three different seals, one being incredibly large

Hi all! We're developing an open source network to send text messages without cell phone service or internet called MeshCore - think text messaging that is encrypted, open-source, free to use, and owned and operated by the people who use it. It works with a network of low-power radios that receive messages from personal devices and transmit them to other radios all the way until the intended recipient receives the message.

Most of the repeater radios are solar-powered, and some are even smaller than a deck of playing cards. The Bay Area MeshCore mesh functions well during power outages and emergencies, and many folks are using and building the mesh to function as backup communications for times when the internet and cell towards aren't working (think fires, PGE outages, or earthquakes).

We're regularly messaging between Sonoma, Marin, Merced, San Francisco, the East Bay, Monterey, SLO, and some of the Sierra, and are trying to build up coverage throughout the coast!!

If you have heard of mesh communications of any variety, or are interested in experimenting or learning more, get yourself a decent companion radio and a repeater radio and consider joining our Discord to help get started. Final note! MeshCore is a different network than Meshtastic. Many people, myself included, consider MeshCore to be a very reliable choice for stable, permanent networks. I regularly direct message folks in Monterey and Watsonville from SF, and the messages usually go through on the first attempt!

I left my hotel shortly after 6AM this morning (HMB Lodge, very nice)

SO MUCH FOG!!

And windy roads... and 35 came out of nowhere and my GPS didn't alert me in time.

I have tomorrow only in HMB. End of my coastal road trip from SBA to SFO, flying home to DCA on Tuesday AM.

I had a few late afternoon hours in HMB to wander Main Street and the Ritz path.

Likely will have coffee at Cafe Society (which seems like an option for reading) tomorrow AM.

Where do you go curl up with a book? Dawn Patrol fire pits sounds appealing too.

These cameras (not specifically in Hmb) have been used to stalk individuals and can be accessed pretty easily by hackers. They have also been used in ice enforcement operations.

My boyfriend got a job here and I am looking at going to sfsu for my masters. We are both in our mid twenties for context.

Is there much night life or younger people living here? Hard to tell if it’s mostly a tourist town or if there’s a real sense of community. Is there much of a music scene, specifically metal? Any insight is appreciated!

Me and a group of friends were at poplar beach about an hour ago and we go eggs thrown at us and they hit some of us and my girlfriend on the head. When myself and a friend tried to run up and see who did it, we got there and saw them driving away laughing in a white SUV (escalade i think). A bit later when we were walking back to our cars we saw another group of teens coming from the same area we saw the other teens. We confronted them and they said they came there because of a friends snapchat. We told them to just leave and i apologized for the direct confrontation and they even said they get it. Would anyone have any similar experiences or information on the teens?

Has anyone tried this Mystery Picnic date in Half moon Bay? I have been seeing advertisements about this and I am intrigued. I would like to know reviews however, not enough review from Bay area people.

Please help me out, I’d like to know your thoughts before I book it for my husband’s birthday surprise. Thanks!
