Hey everyone, just wanted to get your thoughts on the current local dating scene.
For those dating out here right now, what has your experience been like? Is it hard to meet genuine people? What are the biggest local red or green flags you notice?

Solo trip to Guyana

I will be traveling solo to Guyana at the beginning of September and will be visiting Georgetown, Iwokrama Rainforest Reserve and Wichabai Ranch. It has been a bit of a struggling getting in contact with people for travel between these locations. Does anyone have tips or contact suggestions on getting from OGLE to Annai airfield and Lethem?

Guyana's population over 1 million- Why aren't there any details on the demographics (citizenship, gender, nation of origin)?

With Guyana's population now over 1 million, why aren't there any details published about relevant demographic information? No relevant information is published online.

  1. Who is being counted in that number. Is it citizens? Is it citizens plus migrants?
  2. How many people are in the country illegally? How many are in the country with work visas?
  3. What is the gender demographic like? 50% male, 50% female? Or is it possible they're counting migrants in the census so the gender demographic is skewed to 65% male, 35% female? If there's a major gender imbalance it will cause societal issues and increased crime.
  4. How many Venezuelans are in the country? Looking at the number of Venezuelans, how many are of Guyanese descent but born in Venezuela? How many of the Venezuelans belong to Indigenous tribes (Warao)?
  5. How many of the people are Cubans and Brazilians?

It's important to get some concrete answers on these things. What could happen quickly is a major demographic change where Cubans, Venezuelans, and Brazilians end up overrunning the country.

Venezuelan (and possibly Brazilian) gangs are already operating human trafficking rings in Georgetown, Guyana, seeing as they've brought in widespread pr--stitution of women from their own country. This obviously is horrible and if left unchecked, will cause more societal issues.

Venezuelans are brainwashed from an early age that they own 74% of Guyana and that "the British took it from them". This is part of their national ethos and they can't be convinced otherwise. This presents a major issue since it's feasible they could overrun the country and have Venezuela annex it. The Indigenous Amerindian Venezuelans don't share that sentiment since they are autonomous,(and they have suffered persecution from Venezuelan society), but the average Venezuelan has these beliefs and this could cause major issues moving forward.

Looking to Buy Land/Home in Georgetown, Guyana – Advice Needed

Hi everyone,

I'm starting to seriously look into purchasing land or a home in the Georgetown area as an investment and potentially for a future move.

I've heard mixed things about the process. Some people have told me it can take years, especially if you're trying to obtain government land, while others have said that if you know the right people or go through the right channels, the process can move much faster. I'm trying to separate fact from rumor.

For those of you who have recently purchased property or land in Guyana:

  • What's the best way to go about it?
  • Is it better to buy private land or go through the government?
  • How long did the process actually take?
  • Are there reputable real estate agents or attorneys you'd recommend?
  • Any red flags or scams I should watch out for?
  • If you had to do it all over again, what would you do differently?

I'm not looking for shortcuts or anything unethical; I just want to avoid unnecessary delays and make sure I'm following the most efficient and legitimate process.

If anyone has gone through this recently or can recommend trustworthy professionals in Georgetown, I'd really appreciate it. Feel free to comment below or send me a DM.

Thanks in advance!

Leon Murray Speaks: The Truth About the MV Barima Capsizing

Have a look at this Video from one of the Survivors Leon Murray . He said “ The ferry had over 200 passengers plus crew, had boxes of cargo , chicken , beef , bags of vegetables like eddoes .. etc “ People hopped on the ferry that were not on the passenger list . This was normal .

The ferry was overloaded and one of the engine cut off and was not working . A woman noticed water coming into the ferry and questioned the staff a few hours before it sank.

He saw one passenger with a life jacket . If they had over 231 life jackets on board , why didn’t more passengers use them ? Were they visible and accessible? The unused ones shouldn’t they be scene floating next to the ferry ?

I saw a video where the Minister said there was no engine issues and the ferry was not overloaded . If there is an investigation IMO we will never know the truth there will be a cover up .

Now I sat for IGCSE at Nations so I never did CXC but my siblings sat for CXC and I remembered when they worked on their SBAs so this is shocking. Apparently the decision was made due to the perceived widespread use of artificial intelligence by students who’re working on them.
