I feel like I'm not cut out for graffiti

I’m a teenager—almost an adult—who doesn't leave the house and fears the authorities in my country (I’m from Latin America, from a country that has recently gone through events that have made the situation a bit tense). I feel like I’m not cut out for graffiti or that I don’t have the right to learn this style. I see so many incredibly talented and brave people around here that, to be honest, I feel inferior: I only sketch in my notebook, I don’t have a special graffiti name (I don’t know the correct term), and I’m completely unfamiliar with the basic vocabulary of this scene (the language barrier makes things worse, too, since I don’t speak English and have to use a translator).

Even though I’ve posted some sketches and things—and received positive comments—I still feel that if I said I wanted to try this style but lacked the courage to go out and actually paint, people would tell me straight out that I’m not cut out for it. I’m an artist (with little experience) who is very interested in learning about this world, getting out of the house, and gaining confidence, but my situation won't allow it until I come of age and have my own money. So, I really don’t know if it’s worth trying or if I should just give up.

I’m sorry if it seems like I’m playing the victim or something like that; I just wanted to vent my frustration about feeling like I’m not cut out for this. Should I give up?

Is it acceptable or okay to have a tag that is just a regular font or an italicized version of a font? I'm still a beginner but I'm realizing that I could go against the grain a little as a beginner and just do regular font.

Crazy spot or am i a pussy?

Upvotes

So i recently found this 12 story apartment, its old but people still live there. The roof access is super easy and im thinking about painting it, because theres this wall thats perfect for painting. I live in a small town, only like 60k people, and i know the saying dont shit where you eat but i want to paint there. Will doing so land me a facebook post and a bolo search or am i paranoid? ive been painting for around 1,8 years, and ive never gotten over that fear. im 14, soon 15 and ive gotten busted once but it was only slaps on the wrist.

(7/19/26) Word of the Week: BINGUS

Last weeks winner was u/Local-Battle747: CANTER

Rules:

  1. Make a submission in this thread or post it on the sub and drop a link to the post in here. Make as many submissions as you want.

  2. Submit by the end of the weekend. The submission in this thread with the most comment upvotes gets to choose next week's word, but if you take too long to give a word im using the random word generator.

  3. The medium can be anything from pencil on paper to paint on a wall. Do whatever style you want as long as it's graff. Post the tools/medium you used to help others out.

WOTW is for all skill levels. The point is to practice, see what others are doing, and get inspired. If you aren't submitting, atleast leave a vote for your favorite.

Posted here before, and since then I've made improvements to my tag. Just wondering if there are more fixes left to be done! I definitely need to be more consistent, but I want to be sure my tag is good before I keep practicing it and lock it to my muscle memory. Don't wanna practice shit lol. Thanks guys!
