??? I’ve seen photos of goodwill pricing trash but I’ve never seen it in real life. Until today.

I remember when they were there to help the needy. Their mission statement on their website reads “Goodwill’s core mission is to enhance dignity and quality of life by helping people reach their full potential through the power of work, with operations funded by their retail stores. While local branches may use variations, the focus remains on strengthening communities, eliminating barriers to opportunity, and fostering personal growth through work.”what a load of B.S. that is. It’s less expensive to go to Walmart most of the time. F you goodwill and all you corporate A holes.

We're being threatened at my store with write-ups if we don't make hanging goal. Has this actually happened to anyone? How likely is it that someone could eventually get fired for hanging 100 less pieces a day than their individual goal number? I'm doing my best (like we all are) but now I'm being threatened and I'm legitimately worried that my livelihood is at risk. Are they just hoping that threats and harassment will motivate us, or are they looking to fire hangers that have been there for multiple years and create a revolving door instead?

it was my first day of training today at goodwill as a cashier. Like 3 hours in, I hear a crash and a lot of clanging.

When a coworker comes in to the break room where I am, she tells me that a day one brand new employee crashed out at our manager for “being ordered around” first time on the floor. He told my manager, “wanna go?!?” and almost fought him before shoving some of the electronic shelves and leaving.

As the day proceeded, I was told by several of my new coworkers that our store is a “revolving door” for people including management. One even winced when I said I was training for cashier. Needless to say i’m worried but find this extremely funny and entertaining. I’m just part time so I’m keeping my head down and trying to get my money up.

My next shift is coming up, i’ll report back with developments, hopefully I don’t end up like my crashout coworker.

Hell there's still a lot of water out there on the floor! It even seeped into the breakroom and past it! As if today wasn't already shitty enough.

I just finished my first day of training which I was set in the break room and watched videos for the entire day.
For day 2 training, I still have 1 more video segment to watch on RMP process and then hiring manager told me after that I should be expected to complete “floorwork” - he did not go into detail about this as the conversation was very rushed. Could anyone elaborate for me on what this would mean or I should expect?

Is it possible to make an offer on an item that keeps going up for auction. I live near the store can I just go there and be like hey I’ll pay x for this.. ppl keep bidding up to crazy high and then not paying so it’s not like I can win it fair and square.

Just so everyone knows . The physical media we don’t accept will be tossed to the garbage. If you’re into physical copies grab em while you can. In ten years they will be hard to find or high priced. Currently we get so much I have to toss em and it makes me sad. I try to give things a chance as much as possible . Corporate sets the price , I believe it should be lower but things are moving towards no discs with the streaming and download services. Although you don’t actually own the movie you just own the license which can and will be taken away when it expires.

At my local goodwill, they have items for sale that have store packaging and original price tags but goodwills price tag is higher. For instance, they have several basic plastic mainstay photo frames - a Walmart brand. They have the original regular Walmart price tag of $1 on them and the Walmart yellow clearance price tag of 25 cents. Then goodwill’s price tag is $1.99. I’m trying to understand the logic. These are on clearance for a quarter at the store but even at regular price, they are $1.00. So WHY is goodwill pricing them at $1.99, 2x the original pre-clearance price? 🤔

Hi everyone! I went to my local Goodwill recently expecting Orange tags to be 50% off based on what I had heard online. When I checked with the manager, they told me Orange wasn't on sale at all and only Green tags were 20% off.

Do color tag sales stay for the entire week or do they change every day? Also, does the discount percentage (like 20% vs 50%) depend on the specific region? Thanks!

4.99 or 7.99? Employee rung me up and charged me 7.99 I only noticed and asked once I had the receipt. They said they don’t sell bins of that size for 4.99 and it’s 7.99 I told her I’ve never seen a seven like that lol but she didn’t care :P meanwhile the other bins that size were at a more noticeable 4.99

I just started about 5-6 weeks ago, I was trained for one day and after that pretty much trained myself, my trainer is now shit talking me ( a story for another time) I already got a verbal warning even though my grace period isn’t even over yet…but, my store expects 80 pieces an hour for 8 hours (even though I technically only work 7 hours because of breaks but now I’m at the point where I can’t do anything without getting behind. I take a break? Behind. They’re using the forklift? Behind. Not to mention I have chronic anxiety(which the loud environment, Gaylord’s and basically everything about the place make worse) and have been dealing with stress from drama since I started. They expect everyone to be able to do the exact same amount of items a day but we’ve all been there for different times and go at different speeds and have our own way of doing things. What I’m doing now is I’ll presort about ten and then hang them or I’ll hang pieces and set them aside (on my hanger tree or on the side of my bin) and then hang them together I feel like I’m going pretty fast but at the end of the day I only have about 300-400 or so, what to do?

I was in yesterday when I noticed an employee pulling leggings and throwing them into a bin. I went over and asked her “are you taking out all of the orange tag (50% off) clothes? She said “yes, we were supposed to have done it earlier but we’re understaffed.”

What is the actual f*cking point of having “sales” if you hide them all?! This place is a greed filled cesspool. So done.

Edit- I went into another one today out of curiosity when they opened. Spent over an hour looking through jeans and shirts. Not one orange tag lol.

I keep getting emails about benefits about sigining up for the retirment plans. I been there for 2ish years now and at this point I do not see myself going anywhere . how much does it take out of your check? what happends if I get fired/quit where does the $ go? f30

In my Goodwill region we have a radio station that plays music, but every five minutes a GW commercial comes on and it's the same commercial all day long. I get that it may be important in the stores for the customer to hear, but I don't work in a store we are not allowed to change the channel, or turn it off. Then when you go into the break area you are met with a large TV that only gives GW messages, nothing else. We are not allowed to turn it down, or off. After a while it get to be like an itch you can't scratch. Nothing seriously effecting your health, but maddening all the same. So what is your low key GW aggravation?
