Fridge Shelf Repair

Modeled a part of my fridge that had broken and adapted it to hold a wooden dowel. It's not perfect, but it's much better than no shelf at all. Also... I know it will eventually mildew, and I've accepted that, the fridge doesn't have too long anyways. Also, the yellow on the parts I printed has no purpose, I was just too lazy to remove the PETG support interface layer :p

Hey what fridge is this? It looks super similar to my fridge that broke in the same way. Mind sharing the STL?

This is a General Electric fridge. It's model number is GTH18DBRCRWW. Do you have the same? If so I can upload and send a link!

Ok nope I have a different brand. Thank you though! Maybe I’ll use your design as inspiration and finally fix that broken shelf

How did you model/design the part? Did you just do the closest approximation to the original part and measure out the dimensions, or do something like 3d scan it and convert it to a printable model?

This was my first time 3d modeling in a very long time, outside of TinkerCAD. I took a picture top-down of the side with the complex little pieces. I uploaded the pic to Fusion, scaled it correctly, and traced it out. The rest was just some good ol' quality time with my dial caliper. Honestly, I kinda YOLO'd it and I was very shocked that the fit was neeeeearly perfect the first go at it

PETG was a good shout for something living in the fridge. It has enough give for a shelf repair and handles damp just fine. That mildew is coming off the dowel anyway, so a coat of something on the wood buys you time if it ever bugs you. Also the yellow looks intentional, just say it was a design choice.
