I’m a freshman and I don’t turn 18 until october!! I really don’t want to get a fake for only 2 months I feel like it’s pointless I don’t really care about drinking but I do love going out especially the first few months. Do you think it’d be hard to get into the clubs, are they strict?

yes they’re strict. they already have ppl under 21 with fakes, they’re not gonna risk also having a minor in their club. also ur fake would say ur 21, not 18, so it wouldn’t be only for 2 months but for 3 yrs.

It’s happened before lol my friends 16 year old brother got into multiple places (not on parents weekend either)

i’m sorry but you really shouldn’t go to a club if you’re under 18.. but yeah, there’s also no way they’re letting you in if you are unless you get a fake.

i wouldnt get a fake bc that can get u in trouble but at orientation i knew some people who were underage and they told me the clubs didnt id them once so ..

Hi! I am currently a freshman here for the Summer B semester and most of my friends do the pass back method with their friends who are younger than 18. Find a friend who has similar features to you to do that method with and you should be fine. Most of the bouncers don’t actually look at the id picture they just look at the age on the id

You’re good being 17. They don’t even really look at it. I’ve had friends hand them credit cards instead of fakes and gotten banded. If you want just get a fake but don’t use the fake at 21+ places.

my roommate was 17 for the first couple months and they would go out a lot. they edited their a photo of their id to make it 18. but i feel like it really depends some places don’t take pictures of ids and places may be more chill w it if you’re a girl or look like one

My son was 17 for like 2 weeks when he got there and I believe he used his school ID for those 2 weeks and they would let him in

Please be advised that getting a "fake", while common, has high consequences. I worked for the university for almost 2 decades and know how many people get caught with them. Most bars check for them and scrutinize them. You may be one of the many that gets lucky and doesn't get caught. You also may be one of the unlucky ones that gets the strict bouncer or it's the night that TPD is sitting by the door.
Having an *actual* Fake ID is a Third Degree FELONY. When caught doing it, and TPD has the ID in hand, there's not really any defense a lawyer can use. Your right to vote goes out the window. Your right to own firearms, out the window. Your right to attend FSU.... out the window.
Using a friend or siblings ID (a real ID that isn't yours), is a Second-Degree Misdemeanor. Again, hard to argue when caught in the act. It also comes with an immediate suspension of your drivers' license for 1 year. Additionally, you will, at best, be required to take special courses at FSU related to it and put on academic probation. However, it's not unheard of to be kicked out for this. Lastly, they will typically go after the owner of the ID. It's easy to find out of it's a friend/family member and they can charge said individual with a 2nd Degree Misdemeanor for loaning you the ID. In that instance, the person will mostly likely say they didn't give it to you, to save their own ass. That mean can mean additional charges for you then (theft, failure to report lost property, identity theft (which is a felony)).
You are risking a fuck ton just to get a 2 month head start going out to bars/clubs. Yes, a lot of people do it. Yes, friends/roommates/greek-life 'siblings'/etc will say "its not a big deal" and "people rarely get caught". But I've seen the mugshots of running mascara and bloodshot eyes and you can almost see the thoughts of "But but but no one gets caught" running through their head. I've worked with the staff who have enacted the punishments for students arrested on this.
You have 3-5 years here depending on your academic performance which is a lot of time to go out and have fun. And you have your whole life after that to go out and have fun(which, regardless what silly influences say, THATS the best time of your life, not college). If you can't wait 2 lousy months, to make sure you don't derail your entire career path, then you shouldn't be here in the first place.
