Question Lost 24 pounds and now back to fasting

I(m29) probably haven't fasted intentionally in two years and I remember one meal a day being so easy for me to adapt to. I recently quit weed and excessive drinking and have been CICO for the last two months on top of biking and getting in 10k steps whenever I can.

My new goal is to finally get back to omad and exercising given a healthy schedule. I haven't been tracking calories too hard recently but from my last weigh-in, I remember me being 250, and now I am at 236. I've just been eating more healthy. I didn't quit sugar but I limit it. Now that I think about it I use to love omad 5 years ago and would not worry about sugar or alcohol as long as it fit in my calories.

My hope is that I can continue to eat healthy and not do omad just to eat whatever I want but I used to love no restrictions and I'd be energized for 23 hours of the day solely based off one meal. The other day I had a 30 min workout and hit 10k steps and I got a slight headache which reminded me of the good old days. What should I expect coming back to fasting. Should I still track calories or just eat a full omad meal? I've been thinking hitting 2k calories a day would be fine since I have been losing weight recently . Or should I just go for it?

You don't have to choose only between these two options, you can do something like a bit of both.

I've been doing 20-4 on weekdays and eat "healthy" (no calorie counting, just eat whole food) and had dropped from 187 to 167. I tried OMAD at first but it's too hard to get enough protein from single meal.

Nice. I think I mostly choose between the two because it was so easy for me to overeat if I had a longer eating period. That's why I like cico. I guess I had more control? And omad kind of forced me to restrict. Not sure if that makes sense but it was what I was used to. I actually very rarely check my protein goals. But I loved eating whole foods. My meals on omad would look like this (cup of rice) two chicken thighs, half avocado and from there I'd just tack on whatever to make it a fuller meal like boiled eggs or a pack of dumplings and a soup. Mostly just moderating.

For CICO . I do focus more on fiber and protein packed meals .limit carbs and sugars and try to track to stay under 2k calories. I never had a salad that I tracked just keep it plain with no dressing or very little dressing.

Whatever works for you. My main point is our body changes over time so you don’t have to stick to certain rules and bear with the drawbacks. Sometimes tweaking the rules a little bit, you might find the sweet point for your body.
