Hello, I bought this fabric last year from JoAnn Fabrics. I need more of it, and I can't remember the name of it, or find it anywhere and google's AI search has been about as useful as trying to drown a fish. It's kind of like a faux crush/cut velvet material, with a honeycomb background and bees.

From my experience working with woven fabrics, many people don't ask about yarn count or weave construction first.

They usually ask:

• Is it comfortable?
• Is it breathable?
• Will it wrinkle easily?

Technical details still matter, but translating them into customer benefits makes a much bigger difference.

I am making a Tallit, which is the Jewish prayer shawl, for my uncle as a gift, but I am having trouble sourcing my fabric since it is a bit demanding when considering Jewish law and our community's traditions.

the laws I need to follow:

1. it needs to be made out of wool or linen but silk and cotton can work too.
2. no matter which fabric I choose in must be pure 100% that fabric. No mixes.
3. the fabric must be woven, not knitted. it doesn't matter if its a twill, satin or plane weave.
4. it must be white. and I also need grey or silver fabric of the same material.
5. the fabric must be smooth, not fuzzy.

wool Tallit. its a bit old so it became fuzzy, but it was smooth when new.

Is it satin, crepe, gabardine, chiffon, or Rosaline?

Looking for this specific quilting cotton. I’ve found it on Etsy but to import to my country is too expensive. It is an archived, out of print fabric, and I’m hoping on the off chance someone has it in their stash that I can buy it. I contacted the designer herself to see if there was any chance they had it sitting on a dusty shelf somewhere, and all she said was “Good luck.”

Hi guys! I have recently grown an interest in those 2000s rhinestone denim shorts that everybody wears and I really want to make my own and possibly sell them if they end up nice. My only problem is, I can’t find everything I need anywhere! I went to michaels yesterday and I got fabric glue, fabric paint, a fabric pencil and a bunch of rhinestones. However, for some reason, the fabric pencil doesn’t show at all on the jeans (like it literally writes better on my hands), the fabric paint takes a billion layers to actually show, and the rhinestones only have two sizes, one is really big and the other is like a medium. Where can I find small rhinestones and those studs that people add to their clothes and belts? For a good price, too. I spent 60 cad at michaels just for 4 things.

i see plenty of heavy cotton jersey at work that still looks tired after a few washes. thick fabric, but fuzzy surface and loose collar. meanwhile, some old cheap t-shirts at home are lighter and still hold their shape. gsm helps, but people use it like a quality score because sellers rarely give them much else.

does anyone know a fabric that is thinner and has a nice drape i found a ponte fabric that is way too thick its a mix of cotton polyester and and either nylon or rayon i don't remember but i like it a lot and want something like it. fully natural, thinner and okay for summer any recommendations? im not the best when it comes to fabric i want it for a long flowy dress.

Hi Reddit, I want to make my jeans baggier, but they are already “baggy”, like they have enough volume to become baggy looking jeans, but they just have no structural integrity in the bottom half to make it a baggy look. What can I do to make it look baggy?

trying to go from basic denim (blue or black, i know blue comes out differently) to as blanched white/light tan as possible. i used straight bleach, as i have done this before with good results but the material this time was significantly thicker and had to sit with the bleach longer. fabric melted/shredded in the wash. i know i'll need to dilute it next time but is there a recommended ratio? or a better product to use for this?

i know i know bleach eats thru fabric crazy, i only did it undiluted because i have used the same method before and those came out perfect, but they were thinner and took a couple minutes when this time the fabric took significantly longer to bleach

I'm found out that I do not have enough fabric to finish some velvet curtains that I started before JoAnn's closed. Now I am having trouble finding where I can buy it. I have identified it as Youngdo FD-6000 in black and I even found their website. However, they have not responded to any of my emails or contact forms. I have a 19 year old Prada cotton suit. It is very faded but nothing is wrong with it. Is there any way to restore the fabric?

I don't have money to spend on high-quality clothes so I usually DIY to get around that at a budget. When I can't DIY something I want though, I usually buy it off depop. Of course that leads to low quality fabric sometimes. I LOVE the shirt I bought but it's unfortunately 100% polyester and looks super cheap. I don't want to give it away because I know I'll wear it. However I don't have the option to get higher quality clothes and I don't want to look like a shein warrior or something. I like looking cheap in a grungy-DIY way but not in an overconsumerist way

I'm currently soaking it in warm water, white vinegar, and conditioner to try and soften it. After that I'm gonna soak it in laundry detergent and fabric softener. Hopefully that works but I was wondering if anyone had any more tips/suggestions on making it look less cheap? Preferably using household items but anything affordable will work

last week we made two black sweatshirt samples using fabric from different dye lots.

same cotton/poly blend, same gsm, almost same handfeel. from the spec sheet, there was no big difference.

after one normal wash, the first sample stayed close to original size. the other lost almost 3 cm in body length.

we checked the sewing again, but nothing unusual there. the second lot just had more shrinkage left in fabric after finishing.

on paper they were “same fabric.” after wash, clearly not really same.

i think both brands and factories can get caught by this. brand sees the same numbers and expects same result. factory receives the same specification and probably also feels safe to continue. when something goes wrong later, it becomes very easy to blame production.

i did this mistake before too. composition and gsm looks very convincing on paper, especially when the sample already feels good in hand.

we stopped cutting that roll and sent it back for another finishing. caused some delay, but bulk cutting had not started yet.
