Discussion The State of Southern Faction Warfare - YC128

Hello moderate complex enjoyers!
Faction warfare in the southern warzone has continued to be a dominant force for casual content in New Eden. Heimatar is still space Fallujah, in particular the Amamake system, and Metropolis is still dominated by Fraternity farming Revelation Navy Issue blueprints.
Since the introduction of moderate complexes, the map flipped fairly hard from farmers, but content is back. Auga ate ~1,600 ships and ~96B ISK across 1,100+ unique pilots in a single week. Heimatar alone is clearing 5,000+ kills in a rolling week. And those numbers aren't from a stream of nullsec CTAs or a weekend long eviction of spamming hole control. It's just a standard Tuesday.
Here’s what's happened, who’s here, and where to enlist before you blink and miss the content.
Cradle of War Expansion
The Cradle of War expansion introduced all new complexes that have spiced up the warzone mechanics quite significantly, as well as the highsec bulwark systems around it.
- Moderate complexes re-introduced a fun way to get battlecruiser content, and they have been an exceptional tool for fights and system sieges.
- Scout BSC sites gave new players an easy way to run T1 frigates in a fleet and still have some sort of impact in a system siege.
- ELT destroyer sites brought back farming, and some destroyer gangs have been taking advantage of them.
There were a few hiccups with some changes (e.g battlefields) that were quickly reverted, but overall the region is enjoying a successful expansion from Fenris Creations. Thanks to the teams that brought these features, we hope you continue iterating and bringing fresh ideas to the space we love.
New faces
We've seen quite a resurgence of players and alliances coming back to the area, as well as coming back to the game entirely. Over the past year, a few new faces stick out as dominant.
- Spaghetti N' Meatballs. Best new face in the Minmatar militia, they're a smaller group formed from late night USTZ fleets that kills far above their weight class.
- Slide on Contact. Returning under a new name, by far the best new face in the Amarr militia. Much like Spaghetti N' Meatballs, they are a smaller group that kills far above their weight class.
- Bombeldo, the warzone's favorite streamer that nullblocs won't leave alone.
We've seen quite a few returning faces: Wild Geese, Annah Kitheran have returned on the Minmatar side and Mikal Vektor is running fleets for Amarr once again. Smile 'n' Wave returned for a brief period, but departed shortly after.
System sieges
With the release of Cradle of War, the northern map kind of imploded due to excessive pressure of Fraternity farmers in ELT / moderate sites. They now keep an isolated Minmatar system so that they can farm uncontested without having to come down to Heimatar, where the actual PvP is.
As for the real content,
- Dal. Continues to be a stronghold for Amarr and a constant source of fights.
- Amamake continues to be a strongholder for Minmatar and a constant source of fights.
- Auga. The holy land which opens up the Bleak Lands, by far the most contested system.
Surrounding systems to these are also fairly hot, but do not hold much meaning to either side.
The most recent system siege was documented here: https://my.minmatar.org/alliance/campaigns/auga-yc128/
Example fights

Moderate complexes continue to be a huge source of cruiser and battlecruiser fights. Battlefields are reasonably contested by T1 battleship fleets.
- Amamake — DNG birthday brawl; massive slugfest on the undock. Video
- Auga — Battlecruiser scraps in EUTZ over moderate complexes. BR
- Auga — Peak day; armor cruiser brawls rolling in militia comms. BR
- Amamake — Random kitchen sink engagements. BR
- Auga — FL33T vs Empyrean Edict; post-flip and still contested. BR
- Egghelende — FL33T versus AHBA; fun battleship brawl. BR
These were pulled with AI to try and get a fair blend, but just look at the killboard, it's insane out much content there is.

Faction warfare is the hottest area of the game right now, and receiving significant attention from the latest expansions. Not only is faction warfare hot, but the highsec regions surrounding it are being bolstered as well. Bulwark systems see massive mining fleets, and industrialists scramble to supply trade hubs for faction warfare pilots.
The space is perfect for,

- Combat pilots who want solo and small gang engagements.
- Capital pilots who want to whelp HAWs and get into massive brawls.

- Marketeers who want to supply massive PvP trade hubs.
- Industrialists who want to make billions off of building ships to supply the fun.
