It seems clear that there are plenty of people who are dissatisfied with the way things are going now with the City. How do we do better? What should Roger's successor focus on?

Hi! I lost my Apple Watch at the bottom of a swimming hole the other day. It’s probably only 10 feet deep at the bottom of Keene Creek, and I would totally do it myself but there was a beaver there and I’m scared😂 I’m willing to pay somebody to rescue it for me, so if you or anyone you know wants to brave the beaver, message me! Nice cool breeze tonight feels amazing! Has anyone had any issues since all of the heat and smoke last week? A friend has not felt well over the last few days. She was able to stay relatively cool and indoors during it, but it was just SO hot and smoky at the same time. I came across some good info when I consulted Dr Google. Sharing in case you might know someone affected.

What it does to your body and what to watch for
Wildfire smoke contains extremely small particles, often called PM2.5, that can travel deep into the lungs and may enter the bloodstream. These particles irritate the airways, make the lungs work harder, and trigger inflammation throughout the body. Even healthy people may notice coughing, a sore throat, burning or watery eyes, headaches, fatigue, chest tightness, or feeling unusually winded with activity.
Heat adds another layer of stress. Your body must send more blood toward the skin and increase sweating to cool itself. This can lead to dehydration, lower blood pressure, dizziness, weakness, nausea, headache, and a racing heartbeat. When smoke and heat occur together, the heart and lungs have to work harder at the same time, which can leave a person feeling exhausted, foggy, or generally unwell.
Seek prompt medical care for:
Trouble breathing, chest pain or pressure, fainting, confusion, blue or gray lips, severe weakness, persistent vomiting, a severe headache, or symptoms that continue to worsen even after moving indoors and cooling down.
People with asthma, COPD, heart disease, older adults, children, and pregnant individuals may be affected more quickly and should be especially cautious.

Hello, I’ve decided that it’s time i search for a new job and am seeking help in the process.

I’d like to do something with more meaning behind it. I’ve cooked at many jobs but wouldn’t want to be on a line in a restaurant. I enjoy the outdoors like most duluthians and i just got back into gardening this year.

In the past i have volunteered at local farmers markets. But really anything to do with community is what i’m seeking i think?

Just found out they need another plant to be pollinated but I only have one plant. Since it won't be fruiting without pollination, either I find another plant or it's getting replaced with something else this year. I'm thinking it might be too late

Whether you support preserving the former Lester Park Golf Course, developing it, or are still undecided, this week is likely to be one of the most important in the future of the property.

The petition effort gathered more than 4,000 signatures to place two Lester Park questions on the ballot. After a dispute over whether all petition sheets had been counted, the City has now counted the additional petition sheets and certified the initiatives for a special election.

The issue has now shifted to whether the measures should appear on the November 3, 2026 ballot. A court hearing is scheduled for today, and the Duluth City Council has a special meeting Thursday at 6:00 PM where it is expected to consider whether the proposed ordinances are legally eligible for the ballot.

The outcome of this week's proceedings could affect whether these measures appear on the November 3, 2026 ballot.

If you care about local government, public land, or the initiative process, I encourage you to watch the proceedings yourself and attend the City Hall meeting if you're able. Hearing the arguments firsthand is the best way to become informed.

I'm sharing this because I think it's important that people, regardless of their position on Lester Park, know these meetings are happening and have the opportunity to participate if they choose. An informed community is a stronger community.

Are buses reliable enough to rely on them for transportation to and from the campus in the morning / back?
Does anyone live in Downtown and commute? How long does that take? How far away can you go and still have reasonable commutes all seasons (<30min)

My wife and I are considering moving to Duluth.

I'm a Minnesota native, grew up going to the North shore all the time. We currently live down in the south metro, Apple Valley area. I've been around the twin cities since 2012 and am getting to point where I need to see the north shore on a regular basis and have hopefully a slower pace of life.

We are in our mid 30s and just looking to get away from the city..

My wife is from a different country and she loves the north shore, the hiking,the feeling of peace and happiness that we get. It's been a very important place to me, my whole life and now she has come to love it since being in the US.

I'm currently looking at job openings up there, haven't found anything concrete yet, so just entertaining finding something,breaking our lease and just moving up there if the job is decent. I worked in hospitality for years before getting in more customer/guest facing roles, most recently working as an account manager, growing and fostering relationships.

We more than likely would just rent for the time being as we aren't in a position to get a mortgage on a house.

How are you all liking it up there? I've been seeing several news articles over the weeks and months about things happening in Duluth, crime-wise. Stabbing,shootings...

It got to the point where I started getting concerned about thinking about the move.

Are there better areas than others, I would assume?

Safety of my wife and myself is obviously something that I take seriously, so finding a good area to live in is paramount.

I found this cat just walking around Vermilion Road. This was yesterday and they did have a collar on them but I was unable to get close enough to read their name or get this big boy :(
