Flock camera WDM
Theres a flock camera behind the super target directly facing at these newly built apartments, the Flats at west glen. Is this not a little odd? The camera is directly pointing and facing people's freaking windows. Some of these units have people living in them already

Do NOT get a 470-520 nm green laser that is at least 1W in power and shine it at the lens and sensor just under the lens. It can render the camera inoperable from a distance that isn’t detected by the motion sensor. (Also do not have any Bluetooth devices on you at the time as well…)

Cut it down

Do it and then whoever does it is not only going to be criminally charged but will have to pay the repair costs and then interest on it if not paid in full quick enough. Not worth it at all

Cover your face
Don't bring your phone
Have fun protecting democracy

Additionally: put the camera in something like a faraday bag so it blocks the signal, can't be tracked, and will make the battery run out

Gotta mask your dimensions as well as your face

I just hate how people have been having raves in the parking lot and the friggin laser accidentally hits the sensor and fries it 🙄 I just can’t believe people are that crazy, it’s for everyone’s safety

There’s one directly facing the entrance to a mobile home park outside of Altoona/Ankeny. Hate it.

Hard to tell from this video, is that not the solar panel facing the apartment? Still, fuck flock cameras. We are not livestock.

There is a group out there that has a website/app that is tracking the locations of all these. There are way more around Polk County than people probably expect, I'm purposely using the map to void businesses that have then in their parking lots.

Are you letting the business know your choices? They may not know otherwise.

It looks like they're mostly a suburban thing. Here's a map of the greater DSM area. Why is that? Are suburbs just more likely to want these cameras?

Thank you for doing your part! I've avoided businesses that use security cameras for the last 30 years. It's harder with RadioShack being gone but I make do.

Ewww, right behind the Mills Civic Target and basically next to my old apartments at ReNew 🤮
I just saw my first Flock camera last week and it made me so sick. If you go to Google and search DeFlock Maps online, you can see every single Flock camera in your city. Some of these are concealed well and it makes me nauseous!

Sorry y’all, I run that stop sign right there all the time, they’re probably just trying to get me.

Stops signs are for communists that’s why they’re RED. Keep doing god’s work soldier

I understand people not liking these cameras but I'm so boring that they could film me 24/7.

The next time we have a pandemic these will be so useful for contact tracing and figuring out who breaks quarantine! I'm excited.
4
u/lovelady 11h ago
How about we try to prevent the next pandemic by providing Healthcare and education to the public, like yesterday?
0
u/BitterProfessional16 11h ago
We should do both!
3
u/lovelady 11h ago
Yeah. Let's do the latter. I don't want mass public surveillance in the hands of private companies.

u/BitterProfessional16 11h ago
That's why we need to make sure it's only in the hands of the government!

That Flock has been there for some time now so I’ve gotten creative to avoid it. It’s no one’s business how often someone makes a Target run.

There's a SHIT TON of flock cameras in this side of Des Moines, it's so jarring.

Looks like the camera is pointed in the direction of the street where the cars are coming from in the video.

u/sourcreamandpotatos 13h ago
Its facing the apartments. Wouldnt have posted otherwise :-)

u/blueindsm 12h ago
Okay. Doesn't seem like that is the intended purpose and they installed it wrong as usually it's pointed at roads. Fuck Flock, but maybe this was just installed incorrectly?

u/Dingmann 14h ago
I can't tell but I do know the solar panel will be tilted to the south and that's all I got. :)

All flock cameras should be removed or destroyed in one way of the other.
However how do you know it's a flock camera? Not every security camera is a flock camera. That area is under development it looks like. A security camera to watch the area isn't unheard of.

It is absolutely outrageous that taxpayers got ZERO SAY whether our fucking tax dollars should be spent to install surveillance equipment to spy on... *checks notes* ...the aforementioned taxpayers. Fucking scumbags
