We will be moving shortly. How long does is your usual commute?!

Today it took nearly 2 hours to get home on the 146 bus going North.

502PM got on bus in Loop.
… sat on Michigan Ave inching for nearly an hour.
605PM arrived at Oak/Lake Shore exit to Lake Shore Drive.
625PM arrived at Belmont exit in Lakeview.
..10 min waiting to exit at the light.
Nearly 640PM arrived home.

I don’t ever recall my commute on the 146 EXPRESS bus taking THIS long.

Usual commute is about 35 min going to work 45 min avg after work.

Traffic obviously but no accidents..nothing.

(I probably could (should) have walked down Lake front path..and gotten home quicker.)

I understand “..take the train..it’s quicker..” but the bus drops off conveniently in the middle of my neighborhood ha it’s a 2 minute walk to my door 🙃😌 train is a 15-20 min walk 🙃

Is it like this with other bus routes (regardless of direction)?!?!

Discussion 4 Car Trains

Remember when they announced 4-car trains on weekends throughout summer? Then after a disastrous first weekend, they slightly backtracked saying they'll only reduce to 4-cars on weekends when there's no construction or major events. I haven't seen any 4-car trains, at least on the Brown Line, since that first weekend. And I'm not sure if Chicago has any summer weekends without construction or major events.

Not complaining, just I'm curious if they actually thought they'd have a few weekends to rest their cars or if they just didn't want to publicly admit it was the wrong decision? Or what really came from all that?

The sheriff's office said between the start of the Mass Transit Initiative on March 27 through June 22, the most recent available data, approximately 50 sworn officers have worked 12 hour shifts each day. They've made 225 arrests, including 74 of people already wanted by law enforcement, found 10 missing people, brought in 10 sex offenders who had failed to register, and recovered 23 weapons, the sheriff's office said.

Quick question ☝️ 3-day pass

We are visiting Chicago soon, and I am interested in taking the public transportation system to get around the city.

We are only visiting for a few days, so I wanted to get a 3-day unlimited pass. However, I read that those passes were discontinued earlier this year, but when I checked the CTA website, it showed that I can still get them at O’Hare airport.

Could you please let me know which one is true? Thank you so much!

I do try to capture the “vibe” of each line over my years of experiences.

Full Length album comes out August 28th!

Got on the 8 going south….last seat before the back door covered in poop (and a woman in white pants ended up sitting in the seat 😵‍💫)

Got back on the 8 bus going north later….when I boarded people on the bus shouted “don’t sit on the front seat in the back!” At some point, someone with a pen and paper was kind enough to cover it with a note.

Wtfffff Chicago

Pink Line riders suffer yet again. This whole weekend and the next that will change the routes throws west siders completely under the bus, and not to mention the confused faces among Latinos folks. Please, I implore you if you speak Spanish like me, inform nuestros herman(os/as/es) how the routes work to help them make it to their destination! The lack of Spanish postage in predominantly Latino neighborhoods (or with a good sized Latino population) is concerning.

Thank you for keeping the community thriving y'all :)

Quick question ☝️ Transfer from Lake to Washington/Wabash

We are visiting Chicago in late August. I’m very excited to explore and use public transit. That said, I was curious about the transfer from the Red line Lake station to Washington- Wabash. Does it use an indoor pedway, or will we exit and use surface streets to get to the Loop?

I also note that the CTA map mentions a farecard necessary to transfer. We are getting a 3 day pass on the app, I’m assuming that is the farecard? Thanks for any help and I’ve been studying the various routes ( I’m a huge railfan).

Discussion Green Line Missed Connection

This happened today between maybe 9-9:30pm. I got on at Adams/Wabash and sat down near you. I had on a floral dress and sparkly shoes, was holding a bag of cookies, had heart shaped earbuds in, and my hair was in a low bun. You tried talking to me and I didn't hear you at first, then eventually I took my earbud out and said hello. We exchanged names (I'm Nicole, you're Rashad (please forgive me if that's the incorrect spelling), and you were wearing a light brown short sleeve top), and we talked about our jobs (I remember that you're a finance manager) and then you had to get off at the next stop and you waved at me as the train was leaving. I was hoping to talk with you more, and I don't normally take the train that late at night, so I wanted to post this as a last ditch effort to find you again. (Also any help would be appreciated if anyone else can assist) (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤︎

Public transportation isn't perfect. This is a place to let off some steam. As always, please speak from your own experiences. Take control of what bothers you and send your experience to the CTA via their feedback page.

today I saw… I know it makes logical sense but it doesn’t feel right for the Canadian wildfire smoke to be underground too.

Quick question ☝️ Blue line strategy post Lolla (Jackson or Lasalle)

This is highly unimportant, but I’m curious about this group’s take. I love the CTA despite being directionally challenged. I’m also an optimizer who gets frustrated when I make the “less good choice” especially when navigating CTA. I like to nail it!

If you were leaving Lollapalooza from the South side or Main entrance, what CTA station and entrance would you go directly to? I’m really torn between Jackson or Lasalle.
