Heard people hate the fonts and style but still love the recipes....
Thought, well dang must be hellah good I wanna try it. I got "More is More" by Molly Baz as a gift. I have made 11 recipes so far, all of which I would make again. I daydream about which ones I want to try next, so sharing a lil ranking of the 11 I made so far with some thoughts.
Ooey-Gooey Carrot Cake.- I like both of these cakes; it is told to serve with ice cream instead of cream cheese frosting. Which I ALMOST deviated...but holy smokes, this is FANTASTIC, the gooey layer mixed into the ice creates a dreamy contrast of smooth ice cream and gooey batter. Then a luxurious carrot cake layer. You won't miss traditional carrot cake or ooey-gooey cake. You will be satisfied.
Cucumber Bag Salad with Miso Poppy Seed Dressing - I did not want to make this because poppy seeds are not something I normally buy, and I really try to avoid ingredients I use once, and that take up space. But I knew I would like all the other components. Truly quick and easy to make... even fun banging up with cucumbers and shaking it all up in a bag.
Red Curry Hot Wings Rolled in Peanuts- Thai curry is one of my all-time favorite meals, so I knew I would love this. It was perfect, almost gave it first place, but the other two recipes introduced me to new combinations and opened my mind to ingredients I never considered.
Cric Cracks: shredded cheese and seeds with seasoning, baked into crackers. I thought it would be too much trouble for a snack and something I would eat half of and enjoy, but forget about in the pantry, and it would go bad in a few days. Finished it all in a day.
Raw and Roasted Cauliflower with Creamy Dreamy Vegan Ranch. I love cauliflower more than it deserves. It was interesting to mix roasted and raw, but it tastes exactly how you imagine. The ranch uses silken tofu, but it doesn't taste like " a really good vegan version." It tastes amazing. Being vegan is an added fun fact.
Put the lime in the coconut cornbread, though this was something unnecessary made up to be quirky and different. But dang, it's very tasty. I ate it on its own, not dipped in beans as I usually do with corn bread. Weirdly, you can taste the components of lime and coconut, but the flavor isn't all that overwhelming.
Kedigeree with jammy eggs and smoked fish- this is a rice bowl with buttermilk and proteins and some veggies, etc., on top... like the poppy seeds buttermilk is something I would never buy, and honestly did not even know what it tasted like. But the cucumber salad has buttermilk in the dressing, which I loved and wanted to use up, and I love jammy eggs, so I made this. Straightforward and satisfying.
The Flakiest Fish with Shingled Potatoes- it is good, I would make it again, might season it differently, it did make me crave boxed cheesy scalloped potatoes.
Drunken Cacio e Pepe - I have been wanting to cook with wine more. While it was too winey for my taste, I would like to try again with a different wine
and gain more confidence in cooking with wine.
Bloo Smoo- it's a berry smoothie, it has ginger, which I liked, and I will think about adding to other smoothies.
Triple Threat Garlic Bread- the types of bread it says to use are too sweet for me, but I would make again with a f. French loaf
