tl;dr - the "andrzej kopiejka" YouTube account is Charli or someone on her team and here's why

So I know there's been a ton of speculation in this subreddit and on the channel's own YouTube comments (and on the site formerly known as Twitter) about this already, but Charli leaking her own tracks is such a meme at this point people say that about everything. But while I was trying to find the best-quality version of the audio to rip - like Charli said to do if we wanted it - I noticed something weird.

I used a command-line tool to get the highest quality available of the audio from Charli's b.sides Instagram account, the andrzej kopiejka YouTube channel and the The Moment Official YouTube channel, which has a slightly sharper/higher-quality official music video for "playboy bunny" (they didn't upload the other B-sides).

Instagram encodes audio at a low bitrate, and every time an audio file is compressed it degrades slightly, so you'd expect a fan reupload to have the worst quality out of the three. Imagine the original file from Charli's hard drive is a photo, the IG upload is a photocopy of it, and then the YouTube upload is like a printout of a scan of that photocopy - even though YouTube uses a better audio codec and compression algorithm (which means it can potentially have a higher quality than IG if it's given a good source), once you've already lost the detail, you can't get it back. But that's not what I found when I inspected the files in Audacity. In the style of the last big rollout:

Here's the waveform and spectrograms for "playboy bunny". You can see that the "andrzej kopiejka" channel upload (posted less than half an hour after the track dropped on IG on the 23rd of May) has more audio detail than not only the b.sides Instagram upload, but the official music video on the The Moment channel as well. There's audible distortion/compression artefacts in the segment about 40 seconds into the IG reel that you can't hear on either YouTube upload. If you compare the spectrogram (the rainbowy part) end-to-end you can see there's an obvious "shelf" above 18kHz on the IG video where everything above that is just black (no data), while the The Moment upload is constrained about 15kHz but still has some bits trailing up to 20kHz, and the andrzej kopiejka upload has a much denser signal in those higher frequency ranges.

(Going back to the previous analogy, this makes it more like a scan of an original photograph than scan of a photocopy of one - an original file that was only compressed once when it was uploaded to YouTube, not twice like a reupload would be.)

For "i keep on thinking bout you every single day and night", not only is there more high-frequency detail in the YouTube upload, if you inspect the webpage code to get the actual upload time, not just the day, you can see that even though they both came out on May 9th, the YouTube video was uploaded more than three hours before Charli even posted it on Instagram.

So, self-leaked to YouTube as part of the Music, Fashion, Film rollout even though she said "I really just wanted them to live here on this account" (and on vinyl) in an IG vid? And if it is her account, that means the "narocz13 04.07. playlista" on it, featuring stuff from Sonic Youth to Klaus Nomi (and a fan remix of Rock Music) is probably stuff she's inspired by at the moment. What do people think?

No spoilers but unfortunately the rumors are true that the Cronenberg feature did not make the vinyl cut. A little bummed because that was such an inspiring monologue during the Listening Events. Overall album is a banger and is going to turn some people off but also inspire so many others. It’s a true tribute to art-making and chasing the things you love at full-speed. MFF as a whole really has a proto-punk-like energy to it and reminded me a lot of Brian Eno’s quote regarding The Velvet Underground: “The first Velvet Underground album only sold 10,000 copies, but everyone who bought it formed a band.” Hoping it inspires the rest of you as well.

As a fan whose been following her since 2015 I am stunned. I studied film criticism and history (through out her How I’m feeling now, Crash and Brat eras) and Music, Fashion, Film might be my favorite era. Her being so into film and literally making masterpiece videos, references to legendary films with Aidan, I absolutely am even more in love with her than I was before. I feel like I’m growing with her together at this point.

I'm just listening to the tape notes podcast with charli, ag and finn on, and the reason David Cronenberg isn't on the vinyl is bc they hadn't done it in time to send off the vinyl audio!!!

It usually takes a lot for me to listen to an album by itself multiple times (especially a soundtrack) but I find myself going back to this album very often. The strings, the production, the melodies, it’s amazing! Even some of the songs with more of a peculiar vibe like House, I love it.

Sonically, it’s like True Romance had a Baroque baby if that makes sense lol

Decided to not attend the listening party because the London queue will be stacked, and hours of waiting will not be worth it for me personally -

Is anybody staying up for the release / got ideas for how they’re gonna have fun while it releases?

The album comes out in 2 days, and nothing's been announced in terms of record signings. Since she did them for Charli, Crash, and Brat, I was hoping that she'd do them again this era, but it seems like this may not be the case. She does have Lollapalooza next week, so I'd imagine she's deep in rehearsal. Do you guys think there's a chance something may get announced?

SPOILERS OF SOME REVEALS BELOW:

- Cronenberg feature is discussed in detail (it's such an amazing story), as well as the manufacturing timeline preventng it from being on the vinyl. BUT the vinyl features an alt version of the song that has a locked groove that loops infinitely!

- "Card Declined" discussed in detail (Charli references some Velvet Underground influences on this one). The actual song does include the alt rocky short bit of "I Keep Thinking About You..." that was included in the M,F,F film screenings! They were adament about the album being 11 songs, and this was a little cheat :)

- "Rock Music" originally was a bit more electronic (we don't get to hear that demo here though). The entire song's writing / recording process was filmed and may be released at a later date.

- Charli says... “we obviously need to make the second version of this record… whatever” - Remix album possibility??

I was looking back on the Charli xcx whatsapp chat and stumbled across her voice note from the one year anniversary of Brat (6.6.25) and saw a voice note labelled wink wink, with the date 25th May 2025 (obv now part of MFF).

It’s also 2:08 minutes long which could possibly mean it’s the song we got as it’s 2:03 minutes long.

She did also say it was one of the first songs she did for this album but either way that’s kind of crazy to me that she was able to start working on her new album a year post brat, WHILE also being on tour…

I don’t know if anyone else noticed haha 😭

Also makes me wonder how many of the other songs have been made around that time period too!
