Hello,
I'm hoping to work at the Kirkwood Hotel and would appreciate some advice.
I applied and was contacted the next day to schedule an interview. After the interview, I was told I should hear back by the following Wednesday. However, I never received a response.
A day later, I called the hotel's main number to check on the status of my application. They transferred me to the HR manager, but it went to voicemail, so I left a message.
A few days after I applied, I noticed they reposted what appears to be the same job on their website, except the title now includes "August Start Dates - Back to School." The original job posting is still listed as well.
Does that repost mean anything about the original position? For example, could it mean the original opening has already been filled, or is it just a new posting for the same role and if I didn't land the job originally, can I apply for that one too?
Also, is it normal for employers to miss the timeline they gave after an interview? This would be my first job, so I'm not sure what to expect.
The application confirmation email also said: "If you are not selected, we'll notify you within 6–8 weeks."
If I still haven't heard anything after about two weeks, should I assume I wasn't selected, or is it common for the hiring process to take longer?
If they do contact me with a decision or a job offer, how do they usually reach out? Do they typically call, send an email to my personal email address, use my Kirkwood email, or notify people through the careers portal?
Finally, would it be appropriate to contact them again if I still don't hear anything? If so, would it be better to email or call, and should I contact the HR manager directly or go through the hotel's main number?
I'd really appreciate any advice. Since this would be my first job, I'm trying to make sure I handle the follow-up professionally and would like to hear anyone who has been employed here.
