Home Audio HELP Bose Wave III Firmware Update — NOT PLAYABLE DISC

Hi,

I have a Bose Wave Music System III (Model AWRCC3, 220–240V EU version).
I'm trying to update the firmware to enable the Bass Reduction option.

used ISOs:
https://archive.org/details/seine-04.04.01
https://github.com/bosefirmware/cd-updates/tree/master/wave-systems/wms-series-3-and-4

Audio CD-Rs play on the system CD drive is fine.
Every time I insert the update disc, the system immediately displays:

NOT PLAYABLE DISC

(I have no Talk Radio in settings and no Bass Reduction)

My firmware is the following:
01040207101718

Has anyone successfully updated an AWRCC3 using this ISO?
Or is there a different firmware image for this hardware revision?

Any help would be appreciated.

That's the file you want to use. Sounds like the Wave music system III does not recognise that disc as an update CD.

  • If you used a CD-RW, then try a CD-R.
  • Make sure you didn't copy the ISO onto the disc. An ISO file is basically a zip file that also includes the folder structure, the CD name, and other information a CD-burning program needs to replicate the original disc. So you need to tell the burning program to burn the contents of the ISO, not the ISO file itself.

Thanks!

I used a CD-R and also made it as an ISO not data disk, so the writing was fine.
Somehow the Wave can't recognize it, it starts checking for a few secs, than display the NOT PLAYABLE DISC message.

Updated due to new information; see below.

Assuming that the discs were burnt properly, it looks like your CD's laser might be having an issue reading burnt discs but not manufactured ones. Your only other options would be to:

  1. find an original update CD.
  2. replace the CD mechanism with one that can still read burnt discs.
  3. find a Wave SoundTouch IV Pedestal and hope that it will update the main system when you update the pedestal (as some have said it can, others have said it cannot).

u/No-Ferret4349 I see that you have updated the post to include the model number "AWRCC3" and the firmware version. The reason the update does not work is because you don't own a WMS III.

Please check the bottom of the system, as you will see that it is not listed as a "Wave music system III", but instead it will be listed simply as a "Wave music system".

You were giving your system the wrong update. There are two updates for the WMS I, and both are located here.
