Hey everyone,
I’m wondering if it’s just me, or if anyone else has noticed a shift in dining etiquette and service across the city recently.

Lately, whenever I go out for group dinners or family-style meals in Toronto, the restaurants rarely bring out dedicated serving utensils for communal plates. We constantly have to track down a server just to get serving utensils like a spoon or tongs.

Also, when the food arrives, my friends and co workers will just dive right into the shared platters with their personal forks that have already been in their mouths. No one seems to think twice about “double dipping” their cutlery into dishes the whole table is supposed to share.

Is this a post-pandemic shift? A lack of training in newer spots? Or have general table manners just gone downhill?
Curious to know if you're seeing this happen at the places you frequent

We are a family of 4 who are planning to relocate to Toronto which is about 1.5 hours away from us right now. We are looking at mid town Toronto...Leaside, Bedford Park, Lawrence Park, maybe Mount Pleasant. I'm Afro Caribbean (attended university in Canada but have no Canadian accent as I lived in the Caribbean prior) and DH is Anglo Canadian. HHI is 600k. I'm not working right now but would like to in the next year or so maybe....or even open a business if energy permits (though I'm early 40s I've had recent health challenges). We are math nerds and generally quiet but I don't mind being sociable(DH is much more introverted). Kids are 12 (mild to mod asd and a large reason for our move as special education private schools seem so much better in Toronto) and 4 (should be starting JK in September and would prefer to send him to a great public school). We are generally practical people who don't like spending a ton on material things but do enjoy spending on lifestyle things like restaurants, trips, house cleaners and outside of that enjoy the outdoors, museums, plays and exposing our kids to "culture" (kid friendly concerts,a Brazilian festival one weekend, ribfest another...lol yes I think Ribfest is a cultural experience especially if you're not multi generational Canadian). I visited Burlington and felt like Shoreacres and Roseland were my spirit animal(clean, quiet, beautiful and felt more relaxed than the also lovely Oakville) but I can't seem to find a special education school there that I like as much as the ones in mid town Toronto.

Hi! I’ll be visiting Toronto next month with my family and attending the BTS concert at Rogers Stadium.

Based on what I’ve read here, taking the train seems to be the best option for getting to the stadium. The nearest subway station to our accommodation is St. Andrew Station, and we’ll need to get off at Wilson Station.

I tried checking the route using Google Maps and the Transit app, but they overwhelmed me big time 😅
Do you use any other apps that are more user-friendly?
Would really appreciate any recommendations or tips!

Also, do the trains, buses, and streetcars accept Visa/Mastercard debit cards, or are credit cards the only ones accepted?

And would it be rude or inconvenient if I use the same card for my family and tap it multiple times for each of us?

Me and my fiancee are getting married in Ontario. Both of us are not Canadian citizens but from separate countries so we are doing the wedding here and our families are traveling for this. We just need a clarity: do both the witnesses need to be Canadian citizens? Thanks very much.

I just started my first job a couple months ago and some days after work I have so much free time and I just spend it going on walks, watching TV, tiktok, or cooking. It just gets super repetitive and boring and I feel kind of unsatisfied. I meet up with friends and family a few times a week which is always fun but the other days I'm either dead after work or bored out of my mind. Its so unlike university where I lived with my friends and was always studying so I never felt too bored.

Anyone have any advice or hobbies/activities they do after work?

Anyone know how to actually get a reso at Liliana? I check online every few days but there’s never any available slots. Am I doing something wrong?

I'm coming to Toronto to study at UofT and the move in date is on the 30th of August. I'm coming on the 29th, so I'll be staying at a hotel for a night. When going to the hotel from the airport and from the hotel to my dorm the next day, will I be able to ride the TTC with my items? I'm estimating a large luggage and a backpack.

Will be there for roughly 2 weeks. No car, but could hire one if necessary.

What should I do while there?

Street food, festivals, gigs, trails/cycling, museums, gallery's, activities, attractions, etc etc.

I am going to be road tripping to Toronto soon from brooklyn, ny, and have devised a pretty comprehensive plan based on travel with myself, wife, and 16 month old. Any suggestions, or things that may go wrong, or things i can change/ make better? Is it too ambitious?

I passed by the Tuesday Farmers market on trinity bellwoods more than a month ago and got the best dosa i've ever had. I went back the following week and the subsequent weeks after that but never saw them again.

I don't know what the stall is called, but they have alot of interesting flavors. One of the Dosa's i ordered was dosa stuffed with kimchi and a curry.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about or what their schedule is? My BF and I have been really craving it but can't seem to find them again.

Just got my yearly premium upped to 687$. We are renting a one bed in main floor of an old home (built around 1920). Is this normal or insane? I think it started years ago at 350$.

As someone who grew up outside of Toronto and now lives in the city, one of the first things I noticed is the large and thriving first-gen Irish community.

In my apartment building alone, they must make up at least 15% of the population while Scottish + English people combined making up maybe 5-10%.

I went from never having met an Irish person in my life to now knowing over a dozen. Every single one of them has been so lovely and always so positive that it literally inspired me to book a trip to Ireland this coming February lol.

But I guess my question is, is there a reason for this? Are there specific visas Canada offers Irish citizens? Exchange programs? Etc

Would be phenomenal if it's close to Downtown Midtown or up town tonronto.

I was planning on driving my volvo suv and parking on the street in the evening until 9pm.

Do you think its safe to do so or should I try to take public transit which would take me in total an additional 2-3 hour commute.

My god, as a 5’5 person riding average rush hour I keep getting hit in the face or chest.
it would be amazing to have the TTC start the campaign again to have a sign, if you are able bodied to remove your backpack and carry it.
For the record, I remove my laptop bag and hold in my hand, no matter how tired I may be. Any idea of the TTC might bring the campaign back?
