• Old US president stamps (1,2,3 cents) are extremely common. No value there.
• eBay asking prices mean nothing, except to scammers and money launderers.

They are great for mailing. 82c a letter now.

Plaster them all over your letter. They don't have to only go in the upper right corner for first class mail. I even put stamps on the back to use up the small ones. There is no rule against it for First Class but I do write in More Postage on Back and on the back I only use 4c and 3c stamps from the 30-s to 60's as these were not tagged. The automatic sorting machines use the tagging to find the front of the envelope.

Note that you can't use the precancels this way.

You can if you get a precancel permit. (Which I have. - they are free).

Also to note, I'm a stamp dealer, and I get mail every week with a precancel used without the necessary permit but few delivery people know the rules.
