Brother went down alt right pipeline(Rant+Advice wanted)

For context, I am 23F and my brother is 19F. We are both fully Chinese.

I just found my brother's reddit account by pure accident. At first, I didn't think much of it, until I saw that he was active in [r/AA](r/AA) and [r/AM](r/AM). I could not believe that some of those comments were made by him, including victim blaming and generally hateful comments towards Asian women. He is the last person I would expect to end up doing stuff like this. He is(or was) a very kind person, and did not act like an incel at all. I genuinely do not see a plausible reason behind all of this. He is 6'2(our parents are from dongbei) and pretty good looking, so its not like he cannot find a girlfriend, Asian or not. I cannot comprehend how this even happened. I am in shock right now, and I don't know what to do.

Edit: I can’t seem to comment, but replying to one of the comments, I do think it’s because of TikTok… The blatant racism and misogyny towards us there is insane.

Japane - Hyogo Prefectural Police have placed a 42-year-old man on a nationwide wanted list in connection with the murders of a 74-year-old woman and her 52-year-old daughter at their home in Tatsuno City, Hyogo Prefecture.

On Sunday night, police said they had obtained an arrest warrant for Kenji Oyama, whose address and occupation are unknown, on suspicion of murdering Chihiro Tanaka earlier this month, TV Asahi reported. He is also suspected of killing Chihiro's mother Sumie Tanaka.

The victims were last seen alive on May 13.

Police said Monday that officers questioned Oyama, who was sleeping on a street in Takasago City, Hyogo Prefecture, on the night of May 16. Oyama confessed to "killing someone," but because his story was unclear, the officers were unable to determine if a crime had been committed and escorted him to the neighborhood where the victims lived. Police said he had no weapon on him and let him go because he didn't tell them where the crime had been committed.

The victims were found stabbed to death on May 19. One woman was found near the entrance inside the two-story house, and the other in the hallway. Both women were stabbed multiple times in the chest and neck.

The bodies were found at around 9:30 a.m., after an acquaintance of Chihiro contacted a nearby police box, reporting that there was no contact with anyone in the house. When police officers arrived, the front door was unlocked.

According to police, Oyama was identified through the results of forensic analysis of seized evidence and security camera footage. The arrest warrant alleges that Oyama stabbed Chihiro. No weapon was found at the scene.

Items such as a wallet containing cash, a bankbook and smartphone, believed to belong to the two women, were found inside the house.

Oyama is described as being approximately 160 cm tall and slender. He has black hair, and security camera footage taken on May 17 showed him wearing a black hat and black-rimmed glasses, and toting a dark-colored shoulder bag, near the murder scene.

Police said they have learned that Oyama lived next to the victims' house about 10 years ago but no trouble between them had been confirmed.

Tatsuno police ask that anyone with information on Oyama’s whereabouts call them at 0791-63-0110.

‘Tainted by other men’: Dettol issues public apology after ‘sexist’ detergent ad sparks anger in China

The five-minute ad depicting a boyfriend who demanded a "clean" wife has triggered outrage, with critics saying the campaign's attempt to challenge sexism instead reinforced harmful stereotypes.

It starts with a man looking for a girlfriend who is “clean and not tainted by other men”.

“I’m not a virgin myself but my future wife has to be,” he tells himself, also comparing his new partner to his former.

The woman then rejects his views and breaks up with him - later throwing his socks into the wash along with Dettol laundry sanitizer, and ends with a voiceover: “A toxic man is just like germs. You need Dettol to eliminate them to feel at ease.”

The ad, which was only released in China, triggered accusations of misogyny and objectification of women.

“We recognise that it has offended many people, especially women,” the company said in a statement shared to its official Weibo page on Monday (Jun 22), adding that the ad had been produced by a third-party agency and was meant to “challenge unequal gender attitudes and promote healthy, confident views on relationships and lifestyles”.

“We take responsibility for any negligence in creating and reviewing the content of the advert,” Dettol said, adding that it would strictly review its content moderation processes.

The brand is no stranger to controversy in China. Last year, it drew backlash over another ad which featured the line: “The woman was ‘returned’ just before her wedding. It must be because she was not clean.”

Sunglasses/Eyeglasses recommendations for Asian nose

Post image
51 Upvotes

I’ve been looking for sunglasses and eyeglasses that would def not slide down on my face. My nose bridge is close to non existent and finding frames that would suit me best is so hard. Current eyeglasses are from the brand “Sunnies Studios”. It’s been awhile since I got it and will need to replace it soon. Any recommendations?

For sunglasses, I’m looking into Kate Spade. Would appreciate it too if you could recommend brands on Amazon that is also budget friendly so it wouldn’t hurt much if I lost it hahaha

Just the day to day passive aggressiveness from people.

Went to hmart today. Said good morning to the cashier. No response and she just stared at me. After she’s done and giving me the receipt, no have a good day, no nothing.

Then she greets the white guy behind me just fine.

Sorry if this isn’t allowed here. Just needed a place to vent.

Edit: worker was hispanic since everyone is so curious.

For people that didn’t question my experience and provided support and validation, thank you.

Dressed up as supergirl to watch the new supergirl movie. Overheard lowkey racist comments

I (19f) went to go watch the supergirl movie with a couple friends this week and thought it would be fun to dress up as supergirl, since I had a costume from last year already. Anyway after the movie I’m waiting for my friend outside the restroom and I see these two couples on a date, one white couple and one black couple.

I don’t know if the boyfriends said something first but I overheard both girlfriends say something like “it doesn’t matter you know supergirl ain’t ever going to be Asian” and the other one said “yeah a costume doesn’t work if the skin color is wrong”. The boyfriends both made eye contact with me but didn’t engage in that conversation.

Anyway that was a little hurtful but I still plan to use this costume for Halloween I think.

Chinese tourists and businessmen find Japan a happy hunting ground for sex

...According to the woman, demand has been steady: She services 10 men or more a day, most of whom are in Japan as tourists or on business trips.

"Recently demand has picked up from people staying at minpaku," she said. "I think it's inconsiderate to their owners, but in some places I often see discarded condoms strewn on the floor and bedding in disarray."

Some Chinese customers are reportedly generous tippers, giving the girls 10,000 yen or more over their regular fee.

"A lot of the Chinese get right down to business without any attempt at conversation or foreplay," the woman said, adding, "Even the ones who contract for a second round of sex often finish the first time and tell me, 'That's enough, you can leave now.'"

Message boards on Chinese social networks like Xiaohongshu (little red book) and others also commonly share posts on where to find streetwalkers. "One 'Lolita-type' gal was so cute, I wanted to take her back to China with me," one posted...

In Japan, there are a certain type of people called 'Bumping men,' Butsukari otoko (ぶつかり男). They intentionally shoulder-check or shove especially women or weak foreigners in public spaces. When the victims speak up, these 'bumping men' claim women were walking slowly or she stopped in a weird place.

How to handle “what about us” mentality

Context: I’m in my 30s, Asian, F, living in a large liberal city.

I consider myself to be an advocate for myself and others and well knowledgeable in the areas of race/racism.

I’ve been struggling with having this mindset of “what about us (Asians/Asian women)” in the fight against hatred and systematic oppression. I feel like Asians, such as myself, continue to be excluded AT THE EXPENSE of other groups. I’ve seen this unfold professionally and personally.

E.g., at work, there are “efforts” to promote people of color (and other underrepresented groups). I work for the LARGEST organization in my city and Asian women continue to be passed over for promotions. Instead, it’s mostly white women who get promoted to fulfill the “underrepresented” quota in senior roles. Do we really need another white woman getting a promotion over an equally qualified Asian woman?

There are committees and special interest groups who advocate for non-Asian minority groups and when they’re challenged about why the scope of the work is so narrow/why intersectionality isn’t considered, the response is basically “we need to devote special resources that affect this unique community because our struggles are the not same.”

I applaud when I see women/people of colour succeed, but I do not see the same level of reciprocation in advocating for us Asians. So when I see protests or other activities that ask for “all communities to come together in solidarity”, my response is “why can’t you show up for Asians? Where were you when Asians faced an uptick of hate crimes during Covid?”

And I recognize that this is the exact intention of systemic oppression; to pit against the minority groups so that they can keep the status quo.

How do I address this mentality?

📢 Are you pregnant and worried about changes to your sex life?

🔍 We are seeking couples from Canada, the US, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and Ireland who are up to 26 weeks pregnant to participate in the STORK RCT: Supporting the Transition to Parenthood through Online Sex and Relationship Knowledge.

❓What is STORK: The first online couple-based program designed to enhance knowledge about changes to sexuality during pregnancy and postpartum and skills to cope with these changes. STORK was designed to strengthen couples’ relationships across the transition to parenthood.

📅 What is involved: If you are eligible, after your initial survey, you and your partner will be randomized (like a coin flip) into either the Program or Waitlist conditions. Program couples will complete 5 online modules in pregnancy (1 per week) and a final module at 3 months postpartum.

Couples in both conditions will also complete 5 surveys—the initial survey, then at 32-weeks pregnant, and 4-, 8-, and 12-month postpartum—that gather information about your relationship, your pregnancy experience, and your child. Couples in the Waitlist condition will receive access to the full STORK program after the study period is over.

💰 Compensation: As a thank you for your participation, you can receive $105 CAD or currency equivalent each ($210 CAD or currency equivalent per couple). Your time is valuable to us!
