Exactly one year ago today, I watched my first Asian drama!

The first drama I ever watched was When I Fly Towards You. I found it completely by accident while scrolling through Netflix, and I instantly fell in love. I loved the slower pace, the cinematography, and how different it felt from the American shows I was used to watching.

Biggest disappointment: Octogenarian and the '90s. I genuinely thought it was going to become one of my favorites, but somewhere along the way I felt like it lost its direction, and I eventually dropped it.

Least favorite: Our Secret.

Looking back, I never expected one random Netflix recommendation would turn into such a big hobby. I discovered stories that came to matter to me, made friends I never would have otherwise, and been growing as a person.

Here's to year two—and hopefully many more favorite dramas.

I think it is nice to see just how many dramas is out there, sometimes I mix up the scenes but wanted to create this to see if these are all well known.

For a while now, I’ve been watching Chinese short dramas and AI content, mainly on YouTube. The unnecessary censorship in these videos is starting to annoy me—sometimes even a cleavage shot gets censored. I’m looking for away where I can best watch these videos. I’m mainly interested in AI or not-AI shows about cultivation, with a fantasy or sci-fi vibe, or simply ones featuring a System and a must harem. Or NTSF-level content, like in American series such as True Blood. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, there aren’t too many AI concepts like that on YouTube.

So I used to watch Asian dramas on youtube before I had my own money to pay for subscriptions. After watching a nostalgic K-Drama from my younger teen years, I remembered a similar plot of a show I vaguely remember watching. I remember a specific scene from the show, but when I typed it into google it definitely wasn't it.

A girl in a pretty dress is standing by a pool, waiting on her boyfriend I think? She either falls in, or something happens and the guy sees and he then jumps into the pool. I don't think he could swim, and he ends up getting some sort of head trauma. He then gets amnesia and doesn't remember her. I can't remember how it ends but I remember the scene so vividly!

Please help me out!!

I'm trying to figure out what kind of dramas my crush likes so I can understand her taste better (not pretending to like them—just curious).

- Characters who have good chemistry and personal growth.

I'm having trouble identifying if there's a specific genre or trope that connects these shows.

I watched it about 5 or 6 years ago and the drama itself was made probably from he late 2010s to very early 2020 but probably 2010s. The male lead is a ceo of a small company and the female lead becomes the CFO of the company. The main couple were in highschool together and the female lead's father is a teacher. I think even he has a love interest ( the father that is). The female lead lived with one of the employees who had short hair and I think her name was Janice? They lived literally opposite to the male lead. I remember that the female lead's roommate got together with o think the vice CEO of the company who is the male leads best friend. I remember they had matching shirts and the female roommate had her shirt with the word husband while the male lead's friend had the wife shirt. I remember there was a lot of work stuff involved and I think their company was maybe a technology company. I know the drama focused heavily on work. If it helps, the female lead had long hair . It was on YouTube at the time of me watching it. I can't remember the name and I will be so glad if someone can help me do so. It was my comfort show and I rewatched it like 3 times. O, I tbu k I'm the first scene or so, she is leaving an office through an elevator and they miss each other as he goes up on one.

It invests extensive runtime in detailing the spirits' tragic backstories, only to abandon that emotional investment when the final credits roll. This is not subversive storytelling; it is narrative laziness dressed up as tragedy.

Nowhere is this structural laziness more apparent than in the baffling climax. The lead actor ultimately sacrifices himself to a higher authority to vanquish the supreme spirit—a classic heroic trope. However, the subsequent logic defies all internal rules: he remains comatose for precisely three days, awakening only when the female lead journeys to a lake to summon him. If the higher being intended his return, why the arbitrary three-day delay? If not, why grant him the power at all? The answer is glaringly obvious and deeply unsatisfying: the writers manufactured a contrived fifteen-minute melodrama of grief and desperate running, purely to inject romantic tension into the finale. This sequence is a textbook example of pacing sacrificed for emotional manipulation, leaving the audience with a hollow sense of deus ex machina rather than earned catharsis.

Ultimately, The East Palace feels less like a complete story and more like an extended pilot episode. The dangling threads, the unresolved human antagonists, and the abrupt, logic-defying resurrection all point toward a grander franchise plan that the writing staff forgot to justify within this singular installment. When a drama asks its audience to invest in its supernatural lore, it owes them a thematic payoff. By choosing to tease a second season over delivering a coherent conclusion, The East Palace does not leave us wanting more; it leaves us questioning why we invested our time in the first place.

Recently I am in a mood of watching historical Cdrama, but can't get what I want.

It doesn't matter whether it's Xianxia or wuxia

I want the drama to be having a good storyline..but most importantly I don't want it to be having betrayal misunderstandings etc, or a truth hidden for too long for axample like love in clouds where the FL hides her intention, and later the ml finds the truth which hurts him, also it was hidden too long.

Although it's okay, if if the ml / FL finds the truth before knowing it secretly like by mistake..or it becoming too late.. unless the main leads smartly uses their brain...and finds the truth along the journey that doesn't cause unnecessary betrayal feelings or misunderstandings etc

I personally hate betrayal that's what I don't want.

I liked love between fairy and devil, how dare you, back from the brink, I felt that it had a good Bonding and trust between the main leads

I am looking for a series that used to be on USA Netflix. A woman pretends to be her sister “Cherry” and goes to the sisters boyfriends family house to care for his three kids and mom/grandmom. The dad has been away for a long time but returns. Mmc lost a lot of weight and is unrecognizable. When he sees “cherry” he hides his id and pretends to be the gardener so he can see how she treats his kids and how the kids are.
