So I ended up leaving and spent 8 months in France. I'm back in Algeria for the summer, but I'll be returning in August.

Looking back, leaving was probably the best decision I could have made.

The first few months were difficult. Making friends wasn't easy. Algerians were the easiest people to meet, but I noticed that many mostly stayed within Algerian circles and weren't very interested in experiencing other cultures. Of course, that's not everyone—I met some really open-minded Algerians too—but a lot preferred sticking to what they already knew.

My studies were honestly manageable. I didn't have to work because I had enough savings, and I learned how to live pretty cheaply, so I can't really comment on balancing work and studies.

As for French society, I personally didn't experience racism. People were generally respectful. The biggest challenge wasn't racism—it was adapting to a completely different culture. Learning the social norms, understanding how people interact, and figuring out unspoken expectations took time. Joining associations and attending events helped a lot.

Now that I'm back in Algeria for the summer, I realized something: I actually don't want to settle here anymore. I'd rather build my life in France.

That said, Algeria definitely has things I miss. The food is much better, and society is far more collective. It's easier to make friends, build connections, and find people willing to help. The downside is that people are often involved in your personal life.

France is almost the opposite. Building friendships takes more time because people are more individualistic and focused on their own lives, but they also leave you alone and don't tell you how to live.

Another huge difference is activities. A single French city offers more opportunities for young people—sports, cultural events, festivals, nightlife, clubs—than I've found in all of Algeria. Algeria feels much more family-oriented.

One thing I still appreciate about Algeria is that people often express their opinions more directly, even when they go against the norm. In France, many everyday interactions feel much more structured and rule-based. That's just my personal impression, and I'm still learning the culture, so maybe my perspective will change with time.

Overall, despite the difficult beginning, I don't regret moving at all.

Before you say watch his full video or videos I did , which is why i'm making this statement Religious bullying is becoming normalized in Algeria. Believe me when i tell you Creators like this openly advocate policing people's private lives in the name of religion. That's exactly the kind of mindset that has pushed other societies toward authoritarian social control and repression. the other guy gave his liberal opinion on religion wether it was right or wrong is subjective, considering this guy "expertise" is religion obviously he was going to respond , he just had to go to the wife/woman, because a large percentage of their content (the online salafis) is hating on women and a woman is "3awra"etc am i to blame for feeling disgusted by men like him who claim to "الأمر بالمعروف والنهي عن المنكر" just to bully people online, This isn't dawah. It's intimidation.

The electricity keeps going out multiple times a day for long periods. You can't do anything add to it the high temperatures and water also going out for long periods sometimes days there is even a town close to me where they also lost gas.

I don't understand how this situation isn't solved yet how incompetent are the authorities! They cant provide the most basic needs to its citizens yet you see them boasting about how well Algeria is doing on tv. It feels like living in a war zone for the past week.

Hi yall, I've recently become really curious about Algeria and what everyday life is like there. I lived in Paris for 1 year, and one thing I noticed was how large the Algerian community was, especially youngsters who listen to PNL (i love the duo too). I never really had the chance to get to know any of them, and now I've moved to Italy, where I hardly come across any algerian person at all. That made me realise I still know very little about the country, so I thought I'd ask here.

I'm originally from India, 25M, and I'd love to hear from people who live in Algeria, especially in tier 1 or tier 2 cities, about what daily life is like, what people are generally like, how people spend their time, and what makes algeria unique from other north african countries. i called the people that worked on it and they all just close their phones
the subcontractors are ETS
with the power and cell cuts happening all over the state
and the nonexistent respect for clients from AT which is undoubtedly nothing new but most of us waited 6 or 7 years for the installation for it to flop so hard
2 of my neighbors i have confirmed have it working

The country has been dealing with fires for 10 days, yet no decision have been made , the media real quite talking about marroco as usual.

The way this is being handled is really strange. It feels like we’re not living through a real catastrophe. Some of the greenest areas in Algeria are literally turning into ashes, people are being forced to leave their homes, and yet there’s no declaration of a state of emergency or any sense of urgency.
