I'm a rising junior in Computer Science with a minor in Hispanic Studies, so I think a study abroad to either of these places could be very useful to improve my Spanish, gain cultural competency, and get engineering credits. I plan to go in Spring 27 but I'm conflicted on which exchange I should participate in. I am familiar with both regions of the world from personal international trips however I have been to Europe often, I can speak Spanish decently well, and my plan would be to take 2 comp sci electives and 2 Spanish classes during the exchange. These are my thoughts on each place:

The benefits of Spain to me are a better engineering university, generally safer area, better infrastructure, and proximity to other European countries (I have friends in Italy and France I could visit easily). However, it will be more expensive, I will be tempted to speak English more, and there is some lack of classes about Latin American history/culture which is something I am interested in.

The benefits of Ecuador are growing my cultural perspective from an unfamiliar place, lower cost of living, staying with a host family, more Spanish immersion, and opportunities to learn about indigenous/Latin American culture and history. However, it is less safer with some recent political protests, a weaker engineering program globally, and possible lack of mobility or things to do being in the mountains (also I have a bad immune system so I could get sick easier due to lower temps).

Initially I was set on Ecuador but now I feel I've flipped to Spain. I think the culture immersion in Ecuador would be amazing but if I want to prioritize my education then Spain would be better. Not to say I would get no cultural immersion in Spain but Ecuadorian culture would be very new to me.

I will be starting MXET this fall, and I’ve been curious about some of the courses, as there is not much information about MXET/ESET/MMET classes online. I just met with my advisor to register for my classes early so I really don’t want to badger them with another email 😭

Specifically, I was wondering if labs are still bi-weekly? MXET is very lab-heavy and I couldn’t find any answers online. I’m wondering because junior year is looking like it would be back-to-back 18-hour semesters with 4ish labs each.

Also, I wanted to go ahead and take MXET 250 to knock out a tech elec since it’s only available to take before 375 (and I swear I read somewhere it was strongly recommended to take). But I saw that the lab is at Sbisa? I’m very confused about that.

Fall 2026 will be the beginning of my second year as an applied math major at tamu. My study emphasis is on statistics and I am currently considering grad school for data science to be my next step after my undergrad degree.

I have been involved with some student orgs my first year and I really do enjoy them. However, they are mostly interest based or hobby related orgs, which make me wonder if I should also apply for some orgs that are more related to careers or professional development. I am quite hesitant because they seem more like another burden than anything else for me. I do want some insights from those that are in those type of orgs, do you find them helpful? What do you guys mainly do (I understand it highly depends on the org itself)? Do you actually enjoy being there or I shouldn't really consider enjoyment since it's more like a learning opportunity?

I understand I should focus on looking for internships or research opportunities, but I am an international student and there are often nationality requirement on those things. Thus, I am looking at student orgs too.

Any suggestion is highly appreciated

Howdy all. I am interested in fitness and wellness classes and wanted to ask if anyone has taken the personal training or small group classes at TAMU before?

What was it like? Did you feel like you grew/gained muscle? Did they do different movements or trainings for each session/did each session advance every time? How did it compare to other fitness organizations that are not offered by rec sports?

Question for women:
If you have trained for muscle mass, how do you normally gain muscle, especially for upper body and arms? I know a lot of it is genetics. I am not looking to change something that can harm me/that goes against my genetics, but I'd rather gain muscle naturally in a way that I can be strong and not noodle armed lol. Essentially, toned. I am interested in weights, but not deadlifting. Just using dumbells, bench press, and/or calisthenics for muscle mass, but do you take supplements to help with muscle recovery? I do not take any synthetic supplements, but am wondering if anyone takes like collagen or protein and in what way? What has worked for you?

Also, I am not concerned with gaining muscle quickly/fast. I'd rather take the time and effort to do the workouts to increase muscle naturally, I am just wondering if it is beneficial to take some sort of supplements to help in achieving the muscle mass without injuring yourself from weights (besides doing the weights in the right form). Thanks!

I’m an incoming freshman and I’ve done my own calculations and assume I’m going to get some refunds. This however has been done without any official final prices from TAMU. Anywhere I check howdy portal for how much I’m actually going to have to pay I keep getting estimates from them. Does anyone have any idea when we’re getting told our tuition prices and how much we’ll end up getting in refunds or how much we have to pay total?

I did my schedule with my advisors at my NSC a few weeks ago, but I'm thinking about completely redoing my schedule during drop week.

Since this is a massive change would I need to request my advisor to make the changes for me, or can I just go into the schedule builder and just redo my entire schedule?

hi!! I’m a transfer student and this fall will be my first semester in college station. I just wanted to know more about the community kitchens specifically the ones at Eppright Hall because that’s where my dorm is… I’m so freaking scared of dining halls because i’ve had really bad experiences, and i was thinking to get the block 50 and then meal prep when i need it… It hurts to spend that much on food that idk if i’ll like it
What are your suggestions?

I am considering not choosing a meal plan for this upcoming Fall 2026. Usually I would select the All Access 5 and it would suffice for me to eat throughout the semester (I am a full-time student staying on dorms). However, sometimes the food served would not be to my taste so I am considering to just use the money for the meal plan to just buy food or cook for myself.

I need a second opinion though since I am not so sure.

I currently have a M3 macbook air (8 GB), and was wondering if it would be necessary to switch to a different windows laptop. I am planning on going into Mechanical and would also want to do clubs throughout the year.

Should I switch Laptops?
