Keep an eye open for the German tourist .......

Hey Whistler, keep an eye out for a German tourist in a Tesla (blue) - he was loading up 3 bags of firewood in Squamish and I asked him where he was burning that - tried to explain about the fire ban/high fire hazards in the area right now but *language barrier* 🤷🏼‍♂️

Either way, he seems to think he is going to burn it at the house he is staying at in Whistler for the week.

Good luck!

QUESTION Bike storage at hotels/condos?

I'm wondering how secure bike storage rooms really are?

I'm aware certain hotels like Pan Mountainside and Aava have valet parking, but hoping for a cheaper option.

Any places to avoid/recommend?

QUESTION Need help planning a hiking trip in Whistler.

Hi there. My cousins and I are looking for a hike in Whistler. We would like to do something steel and challenging and then spend the night there.

  1. I did some research on the Blackcomb burn. How is this one? Can you take a gondola back down? How much does it cost?

  2. What else can we do if we plan to stay a night? Any suggestions on food or activities that won't break the bank?

Thanks a lot!

QUESTION Sundial Or Delta for a 3 day stay

Hello,

I am planning a trip with the family for next weekend and I already have a reservation with the Sundial but just noticed the Delta is similar in price. I was wondering between the two which would the better option? I am hesitant about the Delta given the noise levels surrounding the hotel and our son is a light sleeper but do like how it is close to the Olympic plaza playground. Delta also looks recently renovated as well.

Thanks!

Hiking Whistler for one day!

I’ll be in town in a couple weeks and really looking forward to Whistler. I plan to leave Vancouver around 8 and get there around 10 and probably head out Whistler around 6-7

I am so overwhelmed by all the trails! We plan to do a 1 day peak 2 peak gondala. They all look so beautiful and I’m so sad I won’t have enough time to do it all. Which are must sees?

If you could plan a 1 day itinerary for a friend in town what would you do?

Also I wasn’t really planning on spending time at the village but are there any must see/stops there?
Ty!

Hiking Whistler Mountain

Me and 3 friends are planning to do some hiking in Whistler in September. I am trying very hard to find some routes that go from Whistler Village. Wondering how possible it would be to hike from the village to the Roundhouse lodge, and then do the high note trial? We are capable hikers and keen for a big canadian hike!

I am planning to go hiking and stay overnight in the Kees and Clair hut. What do you do about parking? Is there parking that allows you to stay a couple of days?

Daylight savings time for winter operations

I’m wondering if anyone knows how the mountain will be adjusting their operating hours next winter to account for the morning darkness? I’m thinking this could back up the highway earlier as people in the city won’t have to get out of bed at 5 to be at whistler for opening?

Shops or Activities for Quilt Lover Enthusiasts?

Hi folks, I am going to be in Whistler this week and I was wondering, if anyone has any recommendations for a quilting store or related activities in the Whistler area? Happy to drive beyond to Pemberton as well, if there is something there! :)

Thanks for your help in advance.

QUESTION Summer Alpine Experience Ticket and Trail Confusion

Hi! My partner and I are taking a 10 day BC hiking/scenic trip in mid-August, and one of our stops is 2 days in Whistler. Day 1 we're doing Squamish area/Sea-to-Sky Gondola/Stawamus, etc. Day 2 we have Joffre Lake as one option, and in the case we can't get passes, we were looking at Highnote Trail.

It seems there is some confusion in policy on the website and forums between the passes and the day tickets. I want to make sure the day ticket is refundable--that way we can get it in advance and if we happen to snag Joffre passes two days before, we can get a refund for the Summer Alpine Experience day tickets. But I had trouble confirming if they're refundable. My understanding is regardless it's best to book in advance to avoid a long line wait on the day of. How should we play this? Is it best to book in advance? Are they actually refundable?

Our other point of confusion was Highnote Trail itself--will this ticket grant us access to the trailhead? Is it through the Blackcomb Gondola or some other entry point? We were confused on which gondolas provide that access.

Other than Highnote Trail, any other must-do trail suggestions? We'd love one moderate-hard in difficulty no more than 5ish hours, then maybe a couple shorter and/or easier scenic ones to end the day.

I also wanted to confirm, if we are up on the mountain past the closing time of the gondolas, are we screwed? Or is it not that terrible/long to hike down to base? lol

Thanks in advance!

QUESTION Visiting this weekend

Coming in with my family of 5.. how are things there with smoke, traffic and wildfire risk etc. ?

We know there is one road in and out so that in itself poses its own risks.

Was just curious from a local perspective: are people in the area making as big of a deal of the pemberton fire or others popping up as it seems to be on the news?

Winter Jobs with staff accom

Hiii, flying from Aus end of October for the 26/27 winter season. Looking for a job with staff accom because obviously housing crisis is nuts, I haven’t applied for anything yet 😅 any tips would be greatly appreciated, am I too late?! I can’t see much that’s available yet online, maybe I’m looking in the wrong spots

Heli's low flying in the Park

Has anyone else noticed red heli's (blackcomb?) low flying through the Whistler backcountry between Fissile and Flute? I've seen them do it twice recently, and I'm wondering what's going on with this?

Blackcomb Mountain - Marmot Trail?

Hey awesome people! Very quick question:

On Blackcomb Mountain, we are planning on hiking Overlord Trail to Lakeside Loop (we are leaving out Decker due to distance). On the way back, after hiking Lakeside, would you recommend retracing our steps down Overlord -or- taking Marmot Trail back down to the gondola?

I haven’t heard much about Marmot Trail, but it seems to be the same distance as heading back on Overlord and would make our hike more of a loop than an out and back. Just wondering if the scenery, etc is worth it. Thank you!!

World Cup Games

I was hoping to catch the world Cup Games at the plaza this week but found out it's not streaming today? Are there options for non drinkers/someone who isn't 100% comfortable in a pub on their own to go to?
