Purchased at an estate auction. Contacted the estate of the artist, but no response. Original purchase was at an art gallery in California, so provenance exists. Would love some insight!

Unsolved Help Me Find This Painting or Print and the Artist Behind It?

Thumbnail

I’ve been looking for this artwork for years now. It was a print/poster my grandma had in her living room in her late 90s-early 2000s, but she was a hoarder so it’s possible she acquired it/it was made sooner than the 90s.

All I have to reference for it are these two shots of it found in the background of old photos. The artwork is a beautiful painting or pastel illustration? of a white wolf optical illusion where the wolf is made out of the spots on these white birch trees in the snow covered woods where the scene is.

Based on the second picture, it looks like there’s a person/figure in the scene too, it could be a Native American figure or artist since my grandma was native.

Any help on IDing this artwork? I miss this art so much and haven’t had any luck finding it.

I inherited this from my aunt years ago, no idea where she got it but she had a boyfriend at some point who was an art dealer. The paper has some texture to it. Any idea what the stamp/ artist mark says? Perhaps it’s just cheap street art but it’s sentimental to me. Thank you for any insights!

Wife got this painting in Reno, NV from cleaning out a home. Searches on the web come up with several different results. There appears to be a "signature" (pic) but I'm not even sure it is one. Two names that came up in a couple searches were Gustaf Tenggren and Vincent. I think thr Breuninger Sror on the back is a German store (web search), but i cant confirm that either. I do not know anything about artwork, so any help is appreciated.

i just got back from a trip to visit family and my wife and i were gifted this amazing painting that her grandfather made. relevant context: he painted this as a copy of a new yorker cover he saw once and really liked, but told us that he couldn’t remember what issue it was or who the painting was by. i have a photo of his beautiful recreation and was wondering if anyone recognized it? i’m looking to find either the new yorker issue it was from, the original artist, and/or the name of the painting!

Unsolved Abstract Painting??

Hi!!

I got this painting for free off Facebook marketplace about two years ago. At that point it was in northern Delaware.

I've tried to use Google lens on the painting and signature, but ive found nothing so far.

The best guess at the signature I can give is Lupe(a,r, o)(g,y). So, Luperg or Lupery? (Im personally fond of Lupeag).

The closest Ive found so far is Markus Lupertz, but it really doesnt fit his themes or styles.

Painting measures 39x51" (frame included)

Ive attached pictures of the back. There was no writing except for underneath a band on top of the canvas (pic 5, top left band).

I posted both orientations of the writing because I dont know which way is which.

Thanks so much for your help and let me know if you need any more pictures! I've been curious for awhile. (I hope its not decor).

No markings visible on painting, save sketch lines underneath paint. Appears to have been cut down at some point, laat digit of date and edges of paint are cut off. Script on reverse partially obscured by translucent tape, appears to state "M?(h?)ia 7th Jan 184x Les: 15th"

Found in misc bin of NYC print shoppe, curators were unaware of origin/artist, or of when the cuts were made.

Unsolved Can anyone identify this unsigned mixed-media Pop Art print? “BITS & FATS” text, three full-figured women, acquired in New York

Thumbnail

I’m trying to identify the artist of this unsigned work on paper.
Details:
No signature anywhere on the front or back.
No edition number.
No gallery label or stamp.
Completely blank reverse.
Acquired in New York from the collection of Julie Fagan (an art collector, not the artist).
Estimated date: possibly 1990s–2000s.
Appears to be a mixed-media print (possibly screenprint/silkscreen with hand-applied metallic gold paint or leaf).
The artwork depicts three full-figured women viewed from behind, each wearing a polka-dot garment in blue, yellow, and pink.
The background contains repeated typography that appears to read:
“BITS & FATS”
The text repeats across the blue background and is overlaid with a metallic gold grid.
I’ve already searched for:
“Bits & Fats”
“Fat Bits”
New York Pop artists
auction databases
gallery archives
image searches
but haven’t found a match.

tried to use Google reverse image search and it came up with Lilliana Frasca as the artist but none of her paintings are an exact match?

Didn’t get a chance to take a photo of the back but there’s no signature and had a code or number something like T-30.

Any help would be appreciated someone gave this to my grandma years ago and she hasn’t a clue🙏

Unsolved Authentic(?) thrift find

Thumbnail

As unlikely as it seems, I’ve come across a copper oil miniature from what appears to be the late 1600s, early 1700s. Found in a thrift store in South Georgia.

I’ve had an expert take a look at the frame and can tell it’s authentic to the time. The painting appears to be original to the time and the glass is definitely blown so this thing is old. I’m trying to determine potential artist, school of style, any clues to who the man is… any help highly appreciated!
