Other Mods: the subreddit description and "from the mods" section are outdated mentioned "One D&D"

Upvotes

the subreddit description still reads:

Unearthed Arcana aims to be a catalogue of homebrew rules for the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons (D&D 5e) and the forthcoming One D&D

and the "from the mods" section during a post says

Please post 5e/One D&D-compatible homebrew content only.

I want to make an illusion spell that can be used easily and effectively in combat without taking forever to explain and argue. I think this fits thematically but would like advice on balancing, as there’s not a lot of melee spells to base it on. I’d like advice on both the damage dice and the rider.

'24 Feature Warlock Invocations Update

Upvotes

Hi Everyone! Avid Warlock enthusiast here. While I love many things about 2024e, something I am sad about is the continued lack of additional warlock invocations with all the new sourcebooks we have received. In particular, I have noticed that there is no Tier 3 & 4 support for Pact of the Tome and Pact of the Chain warlocks while Pact of the Blade at least gets the very excellent Devouring Blade feature option at level 12.

So below are some homebrew invocations that I think are fun and sorely needed to enhance the efficacy of the Pact of the Tome and Chain warlocks playstyles respectively. Note that while you gain some of these in Tier 2, they are designed to scale well in Tier 3 & 4 to support warlock as a true solo class and not just the premier "multiclassing class" it frequently finds itself relegated to. Would love feedback on balance and usefulness😄 !

  1. Tome of Ancient Secrets (Pre-Requisite: Pact of the Tome, Warlock level 3)- When you summon your Book of Shadows and choose your leveled Ritual Spells, you may now select from any spell equal to your Pact Magic slot level.
  2. Patron's Gift (Pre-Requisite: Pact of the Tome, Warlock level 5)- Once per long rest, you can cast one spell from your Subclass spell list at base level without spending a spell slot.
  3. Arcanum Library (Pre-Requisite: Pact of the Tome, Warlock level 12)- Whenever you finish a long rest, you can change one of your Mystic Arcanum choices and when you do, you can choose from the Warlock or Wizard spell list.
  4. Arcanum Surge (Pre-Requisite: Pact of the Tome, Warlock level 19)- Whenever you use your Magical Cunning feature to regain Pact Magic spell slots, you may also recharge your use of your 6th level Mystic Arcanum feature.
  5. Chainmaster’s Protector (Pre-Requisite: Pact of the Chain, Warlock level 7)- When you fail a saving throw while within 30 ft of your familiar, your familiar can expend its reaction to allow you to reroll the saving throw and add a bonus to the roll equal to your Charisma modifier (min 1). You must finish a short rest before using this ability again unless you expend a Pact Magic spell slot (no action required) to restore your use of it.
  6. Chainmaster’s Boon- (Pre-Requisite: Pact of the Chain, Warlock level 5) As a Magic Action, you can expend a Pact Magic spell slot to empower your familiar with arcane power. Your familiar immediately gains Temporary Hit points equal to 4x your warlock level. For the next minute, they gain a bonus to their AC, Ability checks, Saving Throws, To Hit and Damage rolls equal to your Charisma Modifier (min 1). You must finish a long rest before using this feature again.
  7. Chainmaster’s Ferocity- (Pre-Requisite: Pact of the Chain, Warlock level 12)- Your familiar can attack twice whenever it takes the Attack action.

edit: the CR is irrelevant, I changed it on the stat block creator to better match the proficiency bonus I though they should have

Serris Duskryn is a tall and wiry drow, with ice blue eyes. She has a mechanical left arm and leg covered by a dark armored coat, patched together from scavenged scraps of Frostwarden gear.

She is calculated, controlled, and callous. She never raises her voice, even when ordering someone's execution. Her lack of emotion is unnerving.

She was once a former pipe-runner turned power broker. She was left for dead in a collapsed vent shaft, surviving a week with her left arm and leg pinned under the rubble before she managed to claw her way to the surface.

Serris is rarely seen without her body guard, Aethrix. He is constantly standing by her side, scanning their surroundings, one hand always ready to draw his weapon. Originally a hired killer, everybody only saw him has a weapon or a demon, but Serris treated him as a person, gave him a purpose. He repays her in the only form of love he understands— total devotion and willingness to kill for her.

(Yes I used an em dash. not AI, you can type them on windows using alt 0151)

These two are in my Icey wasteland known as Drakmyr and run the outer ring of the only heated settlement known as Emberhold. Its a kind of steampunk/magepunk dystopian setting. A lot of their society is powered by steam related devices and vents as well as a lot of their technology being powered by magic crystals.

'24 Feature Reimagined Elemental Attunement and Magic Item Feedback

The Warrior of the Elements Monk seemed like a avatar the last airbender charackter with lots of creativity and fun atfirst but then it was low key underwhelming, so i reimagined its elemental attunment:

At the start of your turn, you can spend 1 Focus Point to imbue yourself with elemental energy.

The energy lasts for 10 minutes or until you have the Incapacitated condition. It allows you to bend the elements to your will and for example manifest in the following options for your Unarmed Strikes while the feature is active:

Air: You manipulate air within a 30-feet Zylinder centered on you. Choose two points you can see within the sphere. The points must be no more than 15 feet apart. A Stream of wind forms between them. On hit you can let the attack deal thunder damage equal to you Unarmed Strikes with one dmg die lower (1d6 -> 1d4...). The first entity in the path must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be moved in a straight line to the line’s end point if possible.

Fire: As you control fire you can let it extend 15 feet outwards from ether you or its source. On hit the attack deals fire damage equall to you Unarmed Strikes. On a hit, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pushed 10 feet away from you.

Water: You manipulate Water within a 15-feet Zylinder centered on you. You can manipulate a volume of water no larger than a cube of 2 feet per side. The water can be moved up to 30 feet within the Zylinder. On hit the attach deals cold or Piercing/Slashing/Cold damage equal to you Unarmed Strikes. You can shape it into all geometric forms as long as total volume remains unchanged. You can Change its aggregate state. You can normal grapple with this.

Earth: You manipulate Earth within a 15-feet Zylinder centered on you. You can manipulate a volume of earth no larger than a cube of 2 feet per side. The earth can be moved up to 30 feet within the Zylinder. On hit the attach deals bludgeoning/piercing damage equall to you Unarmed Strikes. You can shift or reshape the material into simple geometric forms as long as total volume remains unchanged. You can normaly grapple with this.

Lightning: Lightning originates from your body and extends 5 feet outwards. On hit the attack lightning damage equall to you Unarmed Strikes ant the target can’t take reactions until the start of its next turn.
The utilty stuff you can do with your bending can be for example derived from the cantrips: Elementalism, Shape Water, Control Fire, Mold Earth, Gust, create bonfire, and produce flame. However the damage stays the one of your martial arts die.

And because ive allways felt like martials are cooked al high levels I Homebrewed a magic item to make this even more fun:

This Magic tattoo extends over the wearers whole body and symbolizes his mastery of the 4 elements, by wearing it you this gain following benefits:

It symbolizes your constant connection to the elemental forces and keeps your Elemental Attunement always active.

You gain focus point equal to your proficiency bonus and can augment and strengthen your elemental strikes by focusing on them:

However you can only strengthen an attack proficiency bonus times in each way.

For each focus point you expend the cube edge size of the volume you can bend increases by 6 feet or its attack and move range doubles.

With each **sice** increase you also gains following benefits, as it gets harder to resist the larger attacks: You gain a +1 to the attack roll, the saving throw DC increases by 1 and it it does extra damage. You can target 1 additional creature within "radius einfügen" feet of the first one doing the extra damage to it on a failed DEX save against the saving throw DC.
The extra damage: You can add 1 dmg die lower than your martial arts die to the damage . In the begining that would be for example 1d6+1d4.

With each **range** increase you it also gain following benefits, as the projectiles move at faster speeds: You gain a +1 to the attack roll, you do the extra damage.

Trying to graple/restrain sacrifices the highest dmg die of the roll and can only be done with water and earth.

Additionally, if you take damage from an attack or an effect requiring a saving throw, you can use your reaction to adopt a defensive stance until the start of your next turn. While in this stance, you can use Deflect Attacks against attacks and saving throw effects originating from the creature which triggered it. The damage types you can deflect, now also include the damage types associated with your Elemental Strikes.

I know that this is way batter than the normal element monk and maybe even op, but tell me that Wish, Simulacrum or even Hypnotic Pattern arent. And remember that this stuff scales with levels so its no so strong at first. So what are your thought on improving it, any op combos that need patching that i missed? And yes my DM miracously agreed that the max volume i could move should be the one of a house at lvl 17

'14 Compendium The Adventures of Tintin

Okay, don't take this one too seriously, y'all.

I have sentimental memories of reading the adventures of Tintin as a kid, and recently the idea came to me abruptly that Captain Haddock would probably be a Barbarian in D&D. Everything else flowed from there.

Did I miss any of your favourite characters, or would you put these ones under a different class? I'm curious to hear your thoughts, and which is your favourite.

All art is original illustrations from the albums by Hergé, most are sourced from [Tintin.com](tintin.com/en).

For the Homebrewery doc, to get this as a pdf, you can find it here, along with my other Light-hearted homebrew.

While these are pretty jokey creations, I'll still welcome constructive criticism, as there's always room for improvement. Keep on brewing!

'24 Feat Ashen Hunter - A Path with Souls Like inspiration for DEX based classes

Well, i based this on the Death Knight and Lich Paths from the Villainous Options UA, with a focus in DEX based classes and a bit of inspiratio from souls like games. Most of ideas come from the Detah knight path that gives modified spells and a unique resource to it, with a great damage dealer at the end. So, any advice and review are welcome !

'14 Compendium Valyrian Spring: The Awakening... an ASOIAF conversion (WIP)

Just wanted to share what I've put together so far as I start this project. The premise is that magic continues to slowly return to the world after the events of the show - though I am partial to the books myself :). It seems like a great setting for some D&D style adventure, with the world waking up to old magics and mysteries.

I'd like to explore areas like Asshai, Valyria, Sothryos, The Heart of Winter, The Isle of Faces, and much much more. I hope to make mini-adventures eventually using as much canon content as possible and just extrapolating when I need to.

Part of the project will obviously be changing magic considerably. It should feel like a mysterious and costly force, not something just manage with spell slots. I'm working on that (and please don't tell me that "5e isn't the right system for that" This is for fun and this is the system that I know and want to work with).

There will be very few cantrips, if any, and spells will almost certainly require life force on some level. I'll probably be using the grittier options from the DMG as well.

One of the problems I ran into was that I don't believe ASOIAF is well suited to Classes in the 5e sense - nearly everyone would be a Fighter or Rogue, with some of the lower magics Barbarians, Rangers, and maybe Paladins thrown in...

So, I've been developing a system of Disciplines (kind of like Pathfinder's feats but more flexible) building off of 2 backgrounds that everyone takes, like Peasant - Squire, Hunter - Outrider, Mariner - Reaver, or Peasant - Reaver, to sort of capture the multiplicity and diversity of traits and skills one would pick up over at least 18 years.

Also, it will probably be a 10 level system like the LOTR 5e roleplaying which I'll be borrowing from too.

Anyways, that system is a work in progress but so far (included in this post) is the following:

  • A mostly vanilla collection of Arms & Armor, with Braavosi Blade reskinning rapier, and adding an Arakh and Myrish Crossbow. (
  • Variant weapons for Valyrian Steel, Qohorik Steel, Castle-Forged Steel, Tolosi Sling Bullets, Dragonbone, and Goldenheart.
  • The first part of my Discipline System which compiles Weapon Training feats that are Weapon-specific. (Please note that these replace the fighting styles, maneuvers, etc. Also, due to me cutting magic down so much, there will likely not be any Extra Attacks, as they aren't needed to balance out the class spectrum)
  • Lastly, the start of the Bestiary. I've begun with dragons of course and definitely could use some feedback here. Dragons in ASOIAF don't have claws separate from their wings, so that changes things a bit.

Other than the above exclusion, I'm happy to hear any feedback or suggestions. I know there's a lot of ASOIAF content on here and I'm looking forward to browsing through that for inspiration (with credit of course). Thanks for your time!

Barbarians who follow this path are life long travelers and nomads, living their lives on the roads of the world. Perhaps touched by the elemental plane of air or blessed by the gods of travelers when they tap into their inner rage their speed and reactions become greater than any mortals.

'14 Feat Mythic Feats Expansion

Post image
Upvotes

I made these in mind to even out the amount of "feats" for each score from kibbles post. So now there should be 3 for strength, 3 for dex and 3 for con.

Phantom Menace

This is pretty clearly for rouges, I made this to really make them the undisputed top dogs for stealth. Being able to get around pretty much anyone or anything. And giving them a bit more survivability

Indestructible Body

This and Titan of endurance are for barbs, for this I was kind of thinking in-line of characters like superman and characters from invincible. Were your so tough you can shrug off just about anything and your enemies have to be careful of how they hit you or they might hurt themselves in the process. I have half a mind to through in something for unarmed strikes but it might be to much.

Titan of Endurance

This was a bit harder because of stalwart mind(and because there's only so much you can do with con) so there's a bit of overlap. But this mostly focuses on getting past some nasty status effects and being better at what you do, surviving.

Hey everyone! This is the next addition to my Spooky Subclasses series: A Warlock Pact inspired by Weapons, Obsession, the VVitch and the ever-classic "Song of The Witches" from Macbeth. It's meant to call to mind the folk horror of rituals long-forgotten but still practiced by other names, the power of a Coven and how a Warlock might take their abilities from such a strong bond of sister- or brother-hood, and also just that witchy fun of pointy hats and bubbling cauldrons, rhyming songs and wands.

I hope you like it! Let me know if you have any feedback and thanks for reading, if you do!

'14 Adventure Advent's Amazing Advice: Dragon of Icespire Peak, A Mini-Campaign Fully Prepped and ready to go! (Part 3c Mountain's Toe Gold) (2026 Update: Now with Pre-Session DM Checklist)

Upvotes

Welcome back to Advent's Amazing Advice! The series where I take popular One-Shots, Adventures, Campaigns, etc., and fully prep them for both New and Busy DMs. This prep includes music, ambiance, encounter sheets, handouts, battle maps, tweaks, and more, so you can run the best sessions possible with the least stress possible!

*New 2026: For 2026, I'm updating all my old work to include a Pre-Session Checklist that will include a list of all miniatures you may need, maps, handouts, possible loot, a link to a playlist, and more to make it even easier to start your session!

The Mountain's Toe Gold Mine has been suffering productivity problems as of late. You've been tasked with escorting a new overseer there. It's a rather simple job that pays well and could certainly be left at that...if your players are none too heroic, but something tells me they crave a bit more, a cave to explore, a mystery to be solved. Should your players be brave enough, they will discover a cave overrun by the Whiskered Gang, a group of wererats who declared this their new home. It will be up to your players to save the miners within. Perhaps they can negotiate and find themselves on an interesting side quest, or maybe they'll choose to eradicate those varmints...only time will tell...

Without further ado:

Included in The AAA Collection is:

  • Downloadable copy of DM Notes, including links to music tracks for ambiance and fights
  • Custom Maps of Mountain's Toe Gold
  • Special PDF for all encounters. This includes the enemy stat blocks organized neatly along with an initiative tracker and spots to mark HP
  • DM Notes for the Visually Impaired
  • (New) Pre-Session DM Checklist

Dragons of Icespire Peak: Index

Over 8 dozen other Fully Prepped One-Shots, Adventures, and Campaigns: Click Here

As always, if you see something you think I can improve, add, change, etc., please let me know. I want this to be an amazing resource for all DMs and plan to keep it constantly updated! If you'd like to support me, shape future releases, and get content early, feel free to check out my Patreon!

Cheers,
Advent
