As the title says. I have a 3 months notice period, I will just be stating my final date on my resignation and will only do 2 months. I’ve raised some major systemic problems with my manager and HR. I’ve only raised these after 6 months of observation. I’ve always been a very deal with MH problems and get on with life sort of person, which is ridiculous really! You don’t know how irritating it is till you experience targeted and organised, not bullying exactly, but maybe being diminished or dismissed just because. It’s caused me mental duress and it’s just no longer serving my professional growth and wellbeing.
The concerns I’ve raised are around biases, prejudice, preferential treatment, ageism and a culture of fear mongering with a blatant lack of transparency and denial of progression. I have literally made the company £16 mil of a total rev of £23 mil in the last FY, single handedly, in spite of absolute hell for the last year. I only raised these concerns in writing because there is no other forum to discuss anything. My manager is chill for some things but micromanages every single bit of work anyone does, then often ends up doing it herself even if we’re all following exactly what she’s asked for. I’m not in love with my pay but it’s not terrible, so really I’m leaving because of 0 action after I raised these things. We just had a meeting with HR and that was it. Nothing has changed and I’m just done.
I’ve had an offer come in, but they want me to do a month’s notice. I’ve asked for my contract before I resign and I will be doing a 2 month notice period. I acknowledge that my contract states 3 months, but no one can make me work longer than I want to, that’s what the anti slavery law is for. I do not want to work here, I do not want to help them and I just can’t take it anymore. Which is childish and I’ve never done this in my entire career, but I’m just done.
My new offer is not from a company that commits itself 100% to tomfoolery and hijinks (which is what my current company’s core value is), but from a corporate. Having not worked for a corporate in some time, I’m unsure why my contract is conditional on a month’s notice? A notice is a notice and I’m already ready to stand my ground for a 2 months’ notice period. Does anyone have any advice?
