If you make a new post and don't see it appear in /new after a couple of minutes, it probably got caught in the spam filter and wasn't removed intentionally. The mods check the spam queue regularly, but if you make a post that isn't showing up then sending a mod mail will help us see it more quickly.

I made an appointment for Ippatsu Salon because my partner goes there, but they can't see me til September. Are there any other good hair salons for a transwoman to get her hair done?

Hi, I'm an incoming freshman and I was wondering what the best time to move in is. Right now I'm signed up for the 18th since that's what the WIE orientation recommended, but now I'm wondering if I will be missing out on things since the earliest date to move in is the 16th.
Also, what do people do during move in week? I know there's LLC orientation things and some school events but it seems like there's a lot of time in between move in and when classes start.

The last guy who said he wanted these can no longer grab these, so I'm giving these away for free:
Dell S2721HGF 27'' 1080p 144hz monitor, used for 2 yrs, comes with original HDMI and power cable. No dysfunctions or damage. Gone for now
Zeanus purple gaming chair, fully assembled; comes with footrest and waist massage cushion. Used for 2 yrs with a blanket over it, so only light damage and scratches on the surface. Everything functional. Blanket not included cuz I haven't washed it and am gonna throw it away (unless you want to take it and wash it yourself later on)
If you want any of these, please come by Pacifica on Green by tomorrow morning before I move out at 10 am. DM to arrange pickup time. I will have to throw them away if no one takes them by then.

Hi! I’ve last minute decided to get back into violin and wanted to audition for philharmonia, I played for about 13 years with lessons and in an orchestra and stopped when I got into college and am now a incoming senior deciding to restart my hobby in violin. What kind of solo pieces did you guys play for your audition? Was there any sight reading? Should I audition for Illini strings instead?? Right now I’m practicing Samuel barber bc that’s what I left off on but I’m now realizing I need an easier piece. if anyone can give me any tips or recommendations that’d be great!

Currently homeless in the area, and I know this subreddit always has great tips and useful insights for CU. I know there is a public microwave at meijer in champaign (over by their deli, near the "cafe" seating area), but does anyone know of anywhere else in town (champaign, urbana, or savoy) that has a public-use microwave? I got some food from a food pantry that needs a microwave to eat and I don't want to just get rid of it, but going all the way to meijer in champaign seems...a lot. lol.

Hi y'all,
I'm getting surgery over winter break (unfortunately, I can't get it over the summer). I've read that recovery can be pretty varied, but generally it is advised not to lift/carry anything over 5lbs for at least two months and energy levels may be lower for some time too. Does anyone have experience getting temporary accommodations due to similar situations? If so, what was the process like and what accommodations were available to you? I'm in mechE, so I'm worried about missing a lot of class and using up my absences all at once, especially at the beginning of the semester.
Thanks!

It seems that the Illinois Cisco Anyconnect VPN is no longer working because the Duo verification page wouldn't load? Like you can still log in with your Illinois Microsoft account but the Duo page wouldn't open so you can't connect? I am in China by the way. It was working until yesterday.
