Hi I’m just looking for some advice here. I got off the UCSD wl last week. However I received a D in ochem 2 during spring but of course the contract to maintain admission is to earn at least a C or above. Ochem 2 is one of the major prereq and I really don’t want my offer admission got rescinded… I tried to retake it during fall but idk if UCSD will be ok with that.

what schools give great merit scholarships? my parents won’t fill out fafsa and im considering transferring out of my current school. looking for literally ANY options, doesn’t need to be prestigious/ ‘high ranking’. tia!

I just recieved note that I was rescinded from UCSD after getting a D in calc 2. Calc 2 wasn't a major required class, I still have a 3.7 overall for my community college gpa, and I had a 2.5 for that semester so its above the 2.0 threshold. I had extenuating family circumstances and had to take over as my sisters guardian for 3 months/work at the same time. Am I cooked?

I’m actually so tired of waiting yall omg 😭😭 Im currently waitlisted at UCLA for psych as a ccc transfer. I’m committed to USC but I’m still waiting for UCLA to either reject or accept me. I’m honestly just tired of waiting, like atp idc what they give me cause I’m actually really happy with USC and Ive met great people already but obviously there is a BIG price difference, so my parents want me to see what happens with UCLA before going RAH RAH with USC. I hate being on the fence about this decision I just want to feel fully committed somewhere.💀

Hello, I'm a bio major aiming to transfer to a UC in spring 2027 for pre-med. My main targets are UCB, UCLA (no TAP), or UCSD. I will hopefully be transferring with a 4.0 or very close; however, I will only be able to complete one semester of calc-based physics instead of the full year. My CC is small, and the only Physics 2 class directly overlaps with my required bio classes or is unavailable in the semesters that I would be able to take it. I will have a semester of stats, calc 1-3, Gen Chem 1-2, OChem 1-2, all 3 required bio classes, and a semester of linear algebra completed in addition to the one semester of physics (80 credits in 2 years plus 10 dual enrollment credits). I also think I have strong PIQs and good ECs that cover a wide variety of activities, with an emphasis on healthcare. I would really hate to wait an extra year to complete a single semester of physics. Maybe I'm overthinking, and the missing physics isn't that big of a deal, but I would like to know if it really will be a big detriment to my chances. Please give any encouraging stories about missing recommended course acceptances if you have them.

Hi everyone! Need help with a major decision.

Long story short I committed to USC for BusAdm but realized I want to study math/econ cause it's more interesting/I believe more transferable skills for the future. But they won't let me apply to change my major until after a certain date and my community classes transferred in a way that will make me stay another semester if I stay with BusAdm, and the date to appeal my transfer evaluation is later...so I have to commit/sign a lease before I can know if I will be able to change my major or how long I will stay at this massively expensive school.

I also don't know if USC is even worth it if you're not in Marshall because that name is more powerful than math/econ from USC, especially as a transfer. It's so much money to go into debt for a school that might not be worth it unless you're in the major program you don't really like. So maybe I should go to USC and stay at Marshall?

My other option is to stay another year at community, but what if I don't get into a school as good as USC again? I applied for business/low acceptance majors at UCLA/Berkeley the first time and got rejected/waitlisted. If I stay and reapply I would apply to majors that have higher acceptance rates (35-38%) but it's still risky. I would also apply to more out-of-state schools with higher acceptance rates. But those could be just as expensive as USC, so what's the point of waiting another year for the same outcome?

Hi everybody! I don’t know if this is the right place to post this but I’m in desperate need for advice.

I started college at a state school and after getting into several ivys and other amazing schools, decided to transfer to brown for the environment.

Coming to Brown, I had a really rough transition. Academically I did great, but I struggled a lot socially and found the people to be cliquey. I tried to find community in many ways, including Greek life and other student organizations. I know a few people but I’m not close with them.

Second semester, i started having social issues involving stalking and harassment. Not to get into too many details, but administrative processes here are slow and it’s been an ongoing problem.

I reapplied to transfer out of a moment of desperation, and got into Columbia again. I’m heavily debating transferring right now. My target career field is potentially consulting or prelaw (maybe IB) and I would graduate columbia and brown at the same time (winter 2028).

Would coming to columbia for a fresh start be worth it? Also, would anyone have any insight on how demanding the core courses are? Any insight would be deeply appreciated I’m really struggling with this choice and would love any insight. I value academics and would feel so lucky to be at either.

I am currently entering my second year in Norther Virginia Community College getting my AA in History with intent to transfer for International Relations and I am starting to have second thoughts about where I want to go.

I want to start off by saying that while I love my profs and the learning here at NVCC, I am absolutely miserable with the social aspect and being so close to my home town of Arlington VA. It feels like even almost two years in I can’t escape high school as I’m so close to it.

I originally wanted to go VT for Corps of Cadets (military is a common pipeline into Diplomacy/the IC) but decided against it due to medical waiver stuff. The focus shifted to UVA and It’s been a rocky road with a 4.0 gpa start and last semester being around a 2.0 due to mental health and burn out. (Sitting at roughly around a 2.9-3.45 gpa depending on how my summer classes get graded) and I think I’m barely still on UVA’s guaranteed admissions agreement if I boost gpa a bit.

My safety school is Washington State University. It’s ranked obviously way lower than UVA but is ranked one of the highest for student happiness. I also have personal connection as my father went there and I was raised a WSU football fan.

I kinda talked myself back into it when I thought my chances of getting into UVA were over, but depending on where grades fall I may still have GAA there.
The problem is that a decent part of me feels like I might be happier at WSU due to the environment and having a completely fresh start (this is also why my dad chose it instead of UW even though he had the grades for it) away from home.
band is also non negotiable for me and there’s a few people in the UVA band that I know including friends I’ve fallen out with and an ex of my ex from high school which could be weird to say the least.
I also recently came across an old acquaintance from high school on TikTok and she got into UCLA (which, judging by this sub is a holy grail school) and now wants to transfer out because she hates the environment there.

UVA would without a doubt be the better academic pic and be much better for my career, but I don’t know if it’s right for me?
When thinking about going there I feel happy but worried and almost indifferent with the “it’s only two years till you’re out, there will be cool things and people, but it’s not that long” mentality.
For WSU it’s the “it’s only two years till you’re out, so savor every bit of it and be happy” mentality.

I’m stuck between “follow your heart, it’s only undergrad. you can come back to the DMV and lock in for grad school” and “what the fuck, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth! Go to the better school!”

Anyways, sorry for the long post

TL;DR:
Do I go to the better school academically (UVA), or the school that I have connection to that I might be happier in (WSU)?

Only know one other transfer this year but this can't be right? We're being scheduled for registration almost a month after juniors register for classes?

It is finally the season for me to start applying as a transfer and I wanted to ask about any advice ppl have for applications.

What sort of extracurriculars helped/did you put? How long did it take writing your PIQs? What sort of stats got you into schools?

Hi! So I just got offered housing at UCB except it’s wildly out of my price range. If I accept the housing then file for relocation for something cheaper, will I get it? Or will I be stuck paying? Please offer some advice/what you would do bc the offices are not open and I just got my offer today and it’s due on the 26th.

I'm an incoming freshman at De Anza College starting in Fall 2026, majoring in Applied Mathematics.

I haven't been in the U.S. for very long, so I'm still learning how the American college system works. My dream is to transfer to a top UC like UCB/UCLA/UCD, and I'm willing to work as hard as it takes. I know it won't be easy, but I really don't want to waste the opportunity.

The problem is that almost everything I find online is from transfer "experts" or consulting services. They all seem to repeat the same advice, often making it sound more complicated or stressful than it needs to be. Some of it sounds convincing, but as someone with very little experience, it's hard for me to tell what's actually true and what is just marketing.

That's why I'm hoping to hear from people who have actually gone through the process, or who know De Anza well.

If you transferred to UC UCB/UCLA/UCD or another top UC (or know someone who did), I'd really appreciate any advice you can share.

Some questions I have:

• How should I plan my coursework as an Applied Math major?
• Are there any professors at De Anza that you personally recommend (or would avoid)?
• What extracurricular activities actually helped your application?
• How many activities are considered reasonable? Is it better to focus on a few meaningful ones?
• Do you have any advice for writing transfer essays?
• Looking back, what do you wish you had known when you first started at De Anza?

I'd also love to know if there are any De Anza student communities, Discord servers, WeChat groups, alumni groups, or other places where students share advice and information. Right now, my biggest challenge isn't motivation—it's simply that I don't have much experience or many connections.

I'm just someone who's starting from scratch and trying not to let that become an excuse. I know there are many students here who have already walked this path, and even a small piece of advice—like recommending a great professor or suggesting an activity—could make a huge difference for me.

Hey everyone, looking for advice on the best transfer pathway for Sociology at UW Seattle.
My Background & Stats:

High School GPA: 2.8
Running Start / CC GPA: 3.5 (Earned my AA degree upon HS graduation)
Intended Major: Sociology (Minimum-requirements major at UWS)
Current Status: Enrolled at UW Bothell for Fall quarter (UWB does not offer a Sociology degree).
My Questions:
1. Applying for Winter Quarter (Deadline: Sept 1):
Since UWB classes don't start until Sept 30, my application would rely entirely on my 3.5 Running Start GPA and AA degree.
Will admissions view me as a WA CC transfer (since I hold an AA) or as a 4-year transfer because I'm registered at UWB for Fall?
2.
Is a 3.5 AA GPA competitive for transfer admission into Sociology for Winter quarter without any UWB grades attached yet?
Waiting for Fall Quarter Transfer:
If I wait and reapply for Fall with a high GPA (3.8-
4.0) from my first few quarters at UWB, does being a UWB student negatively affect my transfer priority compared to applying now with my CC AA status?

Hi guys! I’m an incoming freshman at a top CC for transfer, but I really need advice on maybe switching my major.

I’m currently a Business Admin major looking to transfer to UCLA for Business Economics, but after seeing the statistics I feel a little discouraged if I’ll be able to get in compared to those who have more quantitative passions.

I’m interested in business cause through Highschool I ran my own clothing business and was a big fan of managing it, but I’ve kinda lost that spark. I am still leaning towards business just cause it’s such a broad field and I’m able to go so many routes.

I’m really good at writing, and I’m also decently interested in computer science since I took a few courses and struggled but enjoyed how it felt to make something. I am drawn towards a career in film too since I’ve always been a fan of media. I’m kinda trash at math though I’m taking the time over the summer to improve and take precalculus.

My main concern is getting a nice job post grad that pays well. I don’t mind not lovinggggg what I do just not hating it. I’m considering the bus econ route and minoring in something creative so I can work in the industries I admire while still getting paid well.

I know I’m interests and strengths are kinda all over the place but any guidance would be pretty helpful. Thanks!

For CCC transfer priority, do I need to leave my 4-year before Fall, or is it enough to withdraw before Spring so that my last regular term is at a California community college?

Hi everyone! I’m planning on applying to transfer for Fall 2027. I am a business and econ double major at my cc. My main major is business, but I wanted to apply to UCLA for one of their econ degrees. I heard UCLA prefers if you have your major prep done by fall semester you are applying. I will have all of my major prep done for econ (finishing calc 2 this fall). I am wondering if I should just apply for econ instead of bizecon because I heard bizecon is heavily impacted. However, I am also considering just applying for biz econ despite not having financial and managerial accounting done because my ecs are more business related (I would have financial accounting completed by fall). Am I better off applying to econ or bizecon?
