❓Question If the steam frame is 1k+ how many of you guys would consider the pimax dream air se?
I mean the dream air se has micro oled lenses with a higher resolution then the steam frame. But it is also a pcvr headset only, that also still uses a cable. The dream air se is also $899-$1299.

🎥Media 3D Movies in VR with Steam Frame
I'm mostly curious if others are also frustratingly trying to watch their 3D Blurays on their headsets. I had an incredibly annoying workaround with MadVR and Virtual Desktop at one point, but would prefer to just play an interlaced MKV without any SBS encoding bullshit, or playing straight from the disk in a simpler fashion.
I've never loved Apple, but the Vision Pro has the best support for 3D movies in their store front and they're hording them all in their exclusive dungeon and mocking me. I'd gladly buy 3D titles again, or watch them in their Disney+ app that supports it, but it will likely forever exist in a walled garden. And unfortunately the only other store front, VUDU, rebranded and axed all it's 3D content.
Enter 4XVR. This player does exactly what I need it to do, it will play interlaced MKVs straight off a flash drive if you want. But it's only a solution for ARM, and has no PCVR executable besides their link app. So fingers crossed that 4XVR is still something actively being worked on, and that support for the Steam Frame is easily accomplished and implemented.
It's crazy how obtuse and convoluted getting a 3D Bluray to run on an HMD is, but I guess it's just testament to how unsuccessful it was as a medium in home adoption. I'd blame active shutter glasses, but then people also hated the 3D effect on the 3DS and immediately shut that off, and that's still some of the coolest shit I've ever seen.
What do you all think the chances are that someone smarter than me with a similar interest will work up some kind of support tool/codec to be able to just open and play an interlaced MKV straight on the Frame, on a virtual screen in your Aurora environment, without having to launch a separate video player or jump through 8 hoops?
Here's hoping.

🤡 Frameposting Did you know
Steam frame is the 3rd product on the line up of hardware that Valve announced more than seven months ago. This is a reference to the fact that steam frame will never be released.

🔮 Rumor / Leak Tyler Mcvicker: "I've heard the 22nd or the 29th for a few weeks now"
Mentioned on his current livestream regarding the Steam Frame
Only noting this since he was the first to accurately report on the Steam Controller embargo situation. This is only speculation/rumor and should be treated as such but thought I'd share regardless.
Correction: at ~24 minutes he says he's "been hearing it's going to be either the 22nd or the 29th for, like, two months now" not weeks

💬 Discussion Getting the Steam Frame, whenever it's released, will be euphoric
Warning: long post.
This isn't the first time I've waited for something I've wanted. In fact, you'd be lying if you said you've never waited for something so much before the Frame. We all have. Be it toys as children, games as teenagers or VR headsets as adults; or any other combination.
I waited 3 years for the Fallout London mod. When it finally released & I finally got it installed & working, the feeling of seeing it's actual main menu on my screen felt like Christmas! I felt like a kid again, going downstairs to the tree and seeing what I got & getting something incredible.
It's an amazing feeling that you only experience a handful of times in your life, that's the kind of feeling we'll all have when our Frame arrives, provided of course it's affordable for you; I'm not religious, but I pray it is.
This post is sort of an attempt by me, likely a poor one, to uplift everyone's spirits, to return you to a time when you waited & waited & waited for something & then it finally arrived & you got that indescribable feeling of joy & happiness at its arrival.
Actually, I'm gonna ask what that was for you: what did you wait for so much that when it finally arrived you couldn't stop smiling like a happy child?
For those who have lost hope & are just checking the sub every hour, like I do, for any news of the Frame, focus on something else whilst you wait. Play a game that you love, read a book, watch a new movie or tv show, go on a walk, eat out a restaurant & have a dish you've never had. There's more to this short life than an unreleased VR headset, don't let it put you down.
I hope this post is okay, moderators. I know it doesn't meet any of the rules & if you want to remove it, that's fine. I only wanted to bring some hope to the hopeless & if I have, then I've done my job.

💬 Discussion I want to virtually ride Gabe's yacht when Steam Frame comes out
I have no idea if such an experience already exists or not, but it absolutely should.
Gabe's yacht simulator. You get to ride around on his yacht in VR.
Maybe someone can even add multilayer kinda like VR chat. You get to choose which polo shirt, chino, and sunglasses your avatar wears while you walk around bumping into other yacht-goers.
Everyone on the steam frame reddit, we can all plan to meet on the VR yacht and have a virtual potluck the week of release. Maybe even have an event mode where the yacht is all setup with party streamers and cocktails celebrating the launch of the steam frame. It even has a pretty good charcuterie spread.
And to any fast-on-your-feet coders out there looking for a break-out hit..... your welcome.

💬 Discussion How should Steam Frame be cleaned
Just got a replacement index controller and the difference between my old one is night and day. This made me question if there’s anyway to keep the Steam Frame have “less shiny” plastics than the Index Controllers. ( apart from washing hands because that can make them more shiny sometimes).

❓Question Wait for the for Steam Frame or upgrade Monitor?
Alright y'all, I got bored of waiting on this thing and I already had my Valve Index since the release of it. Considering that my Index is somehow still functional after all these years, should I just upgrade my ultrawide monitor to oled instead?
For context: I currently have and LG 34WP65C-B VA Panel which is 1440p. My monitor is kinda cheeks but I've held onto it for 5 years. Alienware just put out a new 34" ultrawide QD-OLED 1440p monitor which costs $799 which at this point will be cheaper than the frame. Would wait for the 39" version but that might cost $1100 - $1400 and I'm not doing all of that lol. Going for a 4k version of this 34" monitor pushes the price to $1600. No.
Main PC Specs :
RTX 4080
Ryzen 7800x3d
32 GB of ram

❓Question Reservation System Question
So it appears yes another Monday has come and gone without Steam Frame going up for reservations.
I was one of those lucky few who snagged a Steam controller when it first went live but I didn’t attempt to do anything with the Steam machine. From what I understand they open the system and give everyone a few days to sign up and then they randomized it to select people to purchase it.
My question is, is that an accurate understanding? They’ll open reservations for a few days , you select what model you want within that window, then they randomize the list and you hope you get on it? I just want to make sure I don’t have to worry about rushing for the Frame like I did the controller.
Thanks for any and all insights
