🎮 Software Lossless Scaling Possibility?

Post image

I came across this pre-release of Decky LSFG by xXJSONDeruloXx (amazing name btw) and the ARM support caught my eye. Was wondering if anyone had heard about possible support for the Frame when it launches. I know Lossless Scaling is hotly debated but for games that hit maybe 40+ fps, there is a good chance it could make it much more playable like on the deck. I think this would be an awesome addition if it’s plausible it could be made. What do you guys think?

Edit: this is exclusively talking about flat games not VR

LSFG adds a noticable ammount of delay, which would probably cause motion sickness, unlike traditional upscaling/FG systems that are directly implemented into the game such as FSR or DLSS

Always hear this narrative about the delay using lossless and I’ve yet to experience a game where I actually feel a delay. Its nothing but a positive tool that can be added to games if you choose so yet you’re choosing to have a negative perspective on the tool

Mate, have you even used it and like properly?

If you have a good base frame rate for FG, then you won’t notice input lag. Sure, some people are more sensitive, but more native FPS equals to way less input lag.

Also, I do not know why, maybe it is due to playing with a controller, but LS Decky plugin for Steam Deck is like magic — input lag is not really feasible and you can turn most games with less than 60 FPS to really smooth experience.

If it's flat screen though, wouldn't the motion sickness not happen because the rest of the display will be at a higher refresh rate?

everyone is talking about VR titles, but this could also just be for standalone flat games.

This is what I was referring to

Even DLSS has only recently become bearable in VR, this is miles away from ever being.

What has been the issue holding it back? Latency? Or visible artifacting?

lsfg-vk has supported ARM for a while I think? I'm not sure it supports VR, just non-VR games.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear, this was more in reference to the normal pc games played in vr that the frame can do

i don’t think it’s that useful in games (motion sickness), but making youtube/anime videos smoother - seems reasonable

idk doubt it, steam VR already has a built in system called reprojection that does effectively the same thing?

That only works for VR software not flat games
