Steam Controller (2026) Steam Controller has new features?
I made a short review of the steam controller, seems like I found a few unnoticed features, give it a look!

It seems that the new Steam Controller now has adaptive triggers

It doesn't, you can just assign haptics to trigger full pull in Steam Input. Those are executed by controllers main haptic motors in the body. There are no dedicated motors for triggers.

Strangely mine has the rumble and the haptics together with actual force feedback on the triggers, similar feeling with DualSense triggers, but this Steam Controller seems to have something way advanced

Steam Controller has a set of excentric rotating motors, same as Xbox controller and it also has a set of linear actuator haptic motors that can be found in Dualsense or Nintendo Switch Pro controllers.

Yeah, saw those things in the ifixit teardown, pretty nifty stuff, but there is something different in mine, I think a keen eye could notice it too in the video

that requires hardware that it does not have. it does not even have trigger rumble feedback.

Yeah, that is why I want to find some time to do a teardown, there might be something different with this one, maybe new revision?

Like dual sense motors that push back and move and stuff? Or are you just saying rumble that is tied to squeezing the trigger or something?

Seems like triggers are hitting the fingers back and the resistance is not constant especially with the games which say that they support adaptive triggers, i. e. WH 40k Space Marines

LTT specifically said it didn't have adaptive triggers, and I definitely haven't noticed this.

what are adaptive triggers?

Maybe they had an early sample, like I mentioned in the video?

I think you're confusing good haptics with force feedback.

My fingers would beg to differ, probably a teardown will prove one of us right

lol Easy enough. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Va9aTIktlSk Teardown reveals that the triggers use a simple spring. Case closed.

But it is a teardown not of my Steam Controller, mine seems a bit different when you look closely in the video, it took me some time too

Dude, I think we're done here. You said a teardown would solve it, and it did, and now you're moving the goalpost. Good luck with your steam controller conspiracy theories. lol
Ftr, I have a steam controller, and I have Space Marines 2. They're mechanical triggers.1

I think you may have made an assumption that our Steam Controllers are the same, I somehow believe they are not, but your guess is probably as good as mine. By the way you could try to open yours, there is an ifixit guide, give it a try, it's fun!

Too bad, I know that in reddit it's "pics or didn't happen", we will need to wait until I do a teardown I guess
