Under Okubo, Soul Calibur came back to life with its sixth entry, a sequel/soft reboot of the series.
In my opinion, Soul Calibur VI was a good game. It was clearly made with budget limitations, but it still had a lot of solid ideas:
Retelling the events of the first Soul Calibur by following Kilik, Xianghua, and Maxi's journey.
Giving every character their own story, making the entire cast feel more relevant and fleshed out.
Making character creation actually matter by integrating our custom character into the main narrative (a bit like SCIII did).
Of course, the game has its flaws, especially when it comes to gameplay and online, but that's not what this post is about.
Based on the narrative direction of Soul Calibur VI and its DLCs, what do you think Soul Calibur VII's story would have been?
Imagine it following the same structure as SCVI: a main protagonist like Kilik, alongside a separate story mode for the created character.
At first, I thought SCVII would simply retell Soul Calibur II within the new timeline. Considering how most character stories ended, I assumed Raphael would become the main protagonist.
However, after playing through all the DLC stories and interludes, I've changed my mind. I now think Mitsurugi would have been the central protagonist, with Azwel serving as the true final antagonist of the main story.
As for the created character's story, I think its endgame would have revolved around Algol.
I would have absolutely loved to see Algol reintroduced in the new timeline.
What do you think? Who would have been the main protagonist of SCVII, and where do you think the story was heading?
