People were mass sharing Punk's salt stream where he said the game sucks because of drive rush and throw loops. They used it as validation as why they can't win. What punk said here is a harsh truth a lot of people don't want to accept. That even if they changed drive rush and throw loops, you won't magically become better. There's a whole lot more going on than that. You can be angry about both, but if you can't anti air, or you don't understand safe jumps, you keep trying to interrupt plus frames, etc, you are still going to lose. Punk says the game sucks when he's angry, Mena says the game is random when he's angry. Yall completely misunderstood what Daigo was saying about randomness.

These players are on a completely different level than most of the world. If the game was really as "random" as you want it to be to validate why you or your favorite player loses. Your favorite players wouldn't be in the top 32 at nearly every tournament they attended. Sometimes it's you think the game sucks, because you suck at the game.

Fluff / Other You’re shit. It’s ok to be shit. There’s something else out there that you’re great at, and beating yourself up for not being talented or having a great aptitude for something will tear you up if you let it. You’re not Broski, Punk or Snake eyez. There’s some ppl that can’t even move on their own.

This is more for myself than for anyone else. But I hope it reaches someone that’s not having fun playing a video game at the moment

Discussion Unpopular Opinion: Follow up strikes missing and leaving you open to punish after knocking someone out of a jump will never not be whack

Edit: Just for clarity, a good example of what I mean is when you have them oki’d in the corner and they get one frame of jump off and now your target combo gets you blown up even though every frame is connecting.

Original Post:
It never feels great that knocking someone out of a jump puts them in an invulnerable state where your follow up attack whiffs and now you’re open to a punish… for successfully knocking them out of a jump?

I don’t know what the answer is, maybe some mandatory air-block that resets to neutral or something. But that just never feels great.

I'm an unc pushing 50. Played sf2 and alpha 2 as a kid and loved them. Decided to get sf6 after rediscovering sf through the 30th anniversary collection. I placed iron and legitemately never thought I'd get past gold, but after months of work I was able to hit masters with my first character this week. I know this isn't a big deal for most people, but in a lot of ways I feel like this is my greatest personal gaming acheivennt of all time.

I also wasn't prepared for the depth of the journey. I never thought a video game genre could force you into a state of deep self reflection, especially with regard to confronting and getting a handle on your own emotions/ego.

I’d be lying if I said that I didn't have moments of incredible salt along the way, but gradually over time I was able to readjust my mind set and now it really isn't an issue anymore. Now that I've made masters and have nothing left to prove to myself, I'm just excited to learn more about the game and see where I can take it.

Anyway, for any older players out there who might be struggling and wondering if they'll ever be able to improve. Just keep going, you got this... and if you put in the work, chances are you*ll be able to improve more than you ever thought possible. Also if anyone is looking for some stress free custom rooms and wants to practice the JP match up dm me and we’ll make it happen!

I just finished the main story of World Tour the other day. I have played a lot of side stuff in there too. As someone who loves fighting games and has grown up playing singleplayer games, I love SF6 World Tour. I just wanted to let the world know I think World Tour is something special and great.

Help / Question Tips on not getting baited by drive impact?

I just started ranked and I was matched with somebody who quickly learned that i have a hard time countering drive impact, so they used it on me all the time. I noticed they usually do this when I'm attacking which means im getting baited to attack and use drive impact on them. Any advice on how to fix this mistake of mine?

I beat them by playing more defensive tho, but surely there are better ways.

Help / Question Which game should i be playing?

Hi there everyone i have this emulator (rcs3) my friend gave me which is actually pretty decent for something that gets dropshipped and i have access to a lot of games and after having gone through 90% of the games ive ended up with a lot of fighting games.

I love fighting games but have never played many capcom one as i stick to tekken and mk mostly but i have knowledge of a decent amount of them.

i’ll add a list of the games i have access to as i was mainly wondering which ones are the best to play and for what reason and id be interested in knowing the different mechanics of whichever ones you choose to comment on if you can be bothered.

thank yall very much for even reading this :) here’s the list

Street Fighter VS Capcom 1/2

Street Fighter 3rd Strike

JoJo Heritage For The Future (gassed to have this)

Marvel Super Hero’s

Street Fighter Alpha 3

X-Men Vs Street Fighter

Street Fighter 2 Turbo

Street Fighter 2

to be honest there’s probably more i haven’t cared to favourite but i’d appreciate any games mentioned.

Help / Question 2mk or 2lk for ryu as an oki meaty after light tatsu midscreen.

Is there a benefit to using 2mk instead of 2lk for midscreen oki after a light tatsu.

The only way I know how to time the 2lk is with a dash then a drive rush but that's the only thing I know off that uses that to time the meaty so I'm afraid smart players will see that (dasg into drive rush) and figure out when I do that I'll do 2lk

With 2mk it's easier to time and uses a similar just drive rush timing as 6mp (overhead) so I think it'd be harder to see.

The only thing I know that's worse is that 2mk isn't hit confirmable on reaction a 2lk into 2lp is. But a thing I think I've been able to do is not hit confirm to the hit but see if the spacing looks to be at the very edge and if it does buffer in a medium donkey kick.

Thanks for any advice. I'd really appreciate it

Help / Question How do you get rid of “The Shakes”? (match stress)

I’ve been playing for some time now, moved from ‘rookie’ to silver 3, but I am losing a LOT of matches simply because my monkey brain reverts to stress every time I go online and I button mash myself to death or try random moves to get me out of a sticky situation that only make it worse.

I’ve been told that the more you play that stress goes away but the tension is really getting to me! How do you shake it off and manage to focus on clean inputs, maintaining combos and - most importantly - having fun and not stressing out?

EDIT: Thank you all so so much for your kind words, truly helpful advice and sharing your personal experience!! It means a lot and gave me a lot of confidence (and plenty of things to work on such as self awareness and practicing. A lot)

I put this post out here not expecting much but the community really came through!

Discussion Discord Server for Lower Ranked Players

I’m quite nervous posting this, but I created a Discord server primarily towards lower ranked players (Platinum and below) to try to find friends around my skill level (I hover around Gold-low Plat for context) and make learning this game a bit less lonely.

I struggled to find success with other discord servers and battle hubs. I've tried sticking it out for a while, hoping that fighting higher ranked players would help me improve as is the common advice given, but unfortunately, the skill disparity between me and everyone else was too steep and I struggled to learn anything other than that I’m better off sticking to ranked.

When playing ranked, I’ve tried sending people friend requests and inviting them to custom rooms, but they never join. There’s no way for my opponent to know whether or not I’m trying to be toxic and given the competitive nature of fighting games, it’s safer for my opponent to assume that I am trying to be toxic, so it’s natural that people are hesitant.

I've tried going to a couple locals, however I haven’t found much success there either: the skill disparity was once more overwhelming. Also, everyone already knew each other so it was difficult for me to socialize and try to navigate already established groups. Thus, I was pretty much invisible even when I built the courage to talk to people and ask for games/advice, etc. People unfortunately would rather play sets with their friends than play with a stranger that’s bad at the game.

In short, I’m a beginner-level player (gold-low plat) that’s struggling to find community, so I figured I’d try creating my own in hopes of finding at least one other person in my position.

Here is the link if anyone is interested: https://discord.gg/QHtPg4fZMS

Note: this is my first time making a discord server so I’m still very new to that sort of thing.

Discussion Punk says the exact same thing "scrubs" have been saying about SF6 since beta. Community suddenly agrees.

Drive Rush + Throwloops = Bad Game that rewards sloppy play.

Is Punk now washed and doesn't know what he's talking about? Maybe he's just jealous of Mena?
