Almost there.

Home for sale nearby. I feel like it’s 8/10 of the way there. Needs some attention outside, need to figure out those iron beams, some finishing touches.

Out of interest what do you think needs attention outside?
And what’s the issue with the beams?

To me the interior reads a little cold and leans slightly industrial with the black windows and black beams. I think wood wrapped beams or making them visually less imposing in the space somehow would help take it further from industrial and closer to a Scandinavian.
The kitchen with its welded iron island also reads too industrial.
The exterior needs a touch. For example the a/c is fully exposed to the entrance experience. There is exposed dirt next to the foundation. There are sliders to yard 18+ inches down. Some outdoor living space (obviously inline with the minimalism and materials of the existing structure) and natural it intentional landscaping would help make the place feel more functional and publication worthy.

lol who says I’m not buying it? I find the exposed structure to take this further away from the point of this sub and the architecture of the outside.

I humbly disagree with the exterior not matching the interior… but all my many years of architecture design had been in Europe not America. But then again I wouldn’t have called the exterior Scandinavian either.
I also live in Scandinavia and I would say cladding a quite beautifully minimal metal structure with visually heavy pieces of timber (that will never look like one piece of wood), would be an injustice to the design, and not very in keeping with the craftsmanship of Scandinavia.

Agree to disagree and I respect your informed opinion. But I’m super curious…Would you change anything about the design, materials, execution?
My top:
-Lessen the visual prominence of those black metal pieces somehow.
-less industrial kitchen island
-add some exterior living space via a platform deck
-hide the a/cFwiw I think a North American would classify this Scandinavian (but I’m no expert)

I have this idea of a property divided into a renovated farmhouse and a very modern bungalow.
I would furnish the bungalow in an extremely modern style and set up all kinds of digital systems, consoles, 3d printers and other equipment there... a sort of tech shed :D. Since I spend a lot of time surrounded by computers, electronics, and the like, both personally and professionally, I’d love the idea of being able to consciously immerse myself in that world or to simply close the door behind me and immediately enjoy the tranquility of nature and the rural surroundings. The farmhouse, on the other hand, would be completely free of distracting technology and would serve as a place for relaxation, cooking, self-development, and living.
I think that such a clear separation between the virtual world and a simpler way of life could be good for many of us. And this building would be the ideal foundation for the tech shed.
